Our cozy back house is outfitted with a Queen Sized Murphy bed with BRAND NEW SFERRA ITALIAN MADE BEDDING, Sateen Sheets and Soaring ceilings and blackout curtains! The Murphy Bed is wonderful because it fits into the wall and creates much more space. Space is definitely not an issue in this 660 square foot open floor plan with 16 ft tall vaulted ceilings! We use nothing but the best for our guests. The bedding is from Horchow-Neiman Marcus with sateen linens. The brand is Sferra, an Italian owned and family operated luxury linens company! We have down pillows and memory foam pillows with a down comforter and quilt blanket so you have plenty of options. There is a side table next to the bed with an alarm clock. All furniture that you will be using is from Crate and Barrel. The television is a flat screen Sony and is 42 inches. We have premium channels, such as HBO, Starz, Cinemax, and Showtime and all regular channels. The kitchen is stocked with a stove, microwave, dishwasher, kitchen sink, cooking ware such as a Panini Press, Blender, Keurig Coffee Maker, Kitchen Aid Chef Knives, silverware, glassware, dinner plates, bowls, coffee cups, Tervis Tumbler Cups, pots, pans, utensils, and with 2 Large Mini Fridges with Built in Freezers. Each Fridge is about 3.5 Ft tall. The Fridge comes stocked with glass water bottles from our filtered water system. The detached backhouse also has a full bath, complete with a bath tub and shower and plenty of space near the granite covered counter top sink, & has the washer/dryer in this area so it is quiet in the main living space. All counters in the bathroom are granite. The kitchen counters are stainless steel. This spacious rental with all luxury amenities is all in the heart of Dallas! A few new items to note are: The Amazon Fire TV including Netflix, brand new plush queen mattress, new Ralph Lauren bed linens, Molton Brown from London Bath Products, Nest handsoaps and hand lotions (all bath products purchased from Neiman Marcus). Less than a mile from Highland Park, Southern Methodist University, and the George Bush Presidential Library; you can also walk to dozens of restaurants, bars, & a concert theater with shows almost every night of the week! We are located in the Popular M Street area and is walking distance to the trendy area, Greenville Avenue. The area has undergone a restoration which has added dozens of fun restaurants and bars ranging from Mexican to steakhouses, to Cajun, and Organic farm to table concept restaurants! There is even a homemade popsicle shop that has been a complete hit with the summer heat! Some of the most popular restaurants in all of Dallas are located within walking distance to our home which makes it hard to eat in and not go out to eat! Also, there is a Trader Joes just about a mile down the road from us, which has become my new favorite grocery store. There are several local boutique shops too that you won't find anywhere else in Dallas. We also have one of the greatest cookie and cupcake shops near us and was featured recently on the Food Network. We are also conveniently located near the popular Knox/Henderson area which is a mile away or less. This area is home to the Apple Store, Chili's, Chuy's Mexican Food, the Famous Highland Park Pharmacy Soda Shop, Wild about Harry's Ice Cream and Hot Dogs, Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, and several other shops and restaurants. Mockingbird Station is about a quarter mile from our home and is home to the Angelika Movie Theater, SEVERAL shops such as Urban Outfitters, Gap, Victoria's Secret, Bath and Body Works, Movida, and restaurants that serve Mexican food, burgers, sushi, and even an Irish Pub. The famous Uptown area is just 2 exits away from our neighborhood, which is home to several Bars, restaurants, and shops. This is where I lived right out of college until we bought our home here in the M Streets! Our area is truly one of the best places to be! There is a private entrance to the backhouse from the gate which has a private code for security. We also have 4 security cameras throughout the property to ensure safety! The bedroom is a queen sized Murphy Bed, so can be put up when not in use for more space. The bed includes sateen linens and down pillows. Extra blankets are provided in the closet. The 42 inch flat screen tv has direct tv with all premium channels! There is wifi internet, multiple board games for entertainment, and access to menus to several restaurants! Wine glasses and a rabbit wine opener are provided as well. We also provide a Bluetooth speaker set so you can connect it wirelessly to your phone or iPod for music! Extra towels are provided and all toiletries are provided as well, such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and bars of soap. We also provide cozy bathrobes in pink and blue. Parking is free and there are atleast 4 spots available for use. The AC unit is personally controlled by the guests and can be as cool or warm as you prefer! The guesthouse is also about a 20 minute drive to the cowboys stadium in Arlington, is very close to downtown, and Fair Park and the Convention Center. The cozy space is outfitted with tall vaulted ceilings, and is truly an experience that will make you feel right at home! Anything you need in addition to everything we provide, just ask! We want to make this comfortable for you and fun so just let us know what you need! Guests will have access to the nice wrap around patio equipped with a flat screen tv mounted on the wall in front of the outdoor dining table, where they can eat dinner outside while watching tv on the big flat screen. They also can enjoy their own patio to the side of the backhouse. In the winter time, there is a gas Santorini Fire Pit to keep you warm and cozy! We also provide blankets for outside so you can relax in the winter! The back house is very private and guests have their own private gate and door entrance. Guests are welcome to use their own patio to the side of the back house. You will feel as if it's your own home! We are very friendly people so please do not hesitate to visit with us if you desire. This neighborhood is probably one of the most popular spots in Dallas right now. Our home has the charm of a 1940's style home but fully renovated on the inside with all of the modern amenities. Our home is situated on a corner lot and is easy access to the main highway in Dallas but also just 2 blocks away from Greenville Avenue where you will find dozens and dozens of restaurants and bars! There is even a historic theater called the Granada that plays weekly concerts. We are also less than a mile from Mockingbird Station where you will find dozens of shops, restaurants, and a movie theater! Basically, this area is so unique because we are right in the heart of Dallas with all the great restaurants and shops, but once inside our neighborhood and home, it is peaceful and quiet! Living in Dallas for 12 years, I have never been able to have the best of both worlds until we found this home! The train station is less than a half mile away and there is a bus stop right down the block from us in case you need that type of transportation!

The property was in need of some TLC.

The area has some very cute homes, but this above the garage unit was in need of some good property management. Electrical was primary concern. You could not run the microwave and the A/C at the same time. If you lost electrical, you had to go down to their garage and flip the breaker. Lights that needed the bulbs replaced.

Cobwebs underneath cabinets. Squeaky front door.

Water draining from main house right in walk way to get into the rental (messy and a potential slip, trip and fall waiting to happen).

The home is located on two very busy streets. Very noisy and busy with traffic. To top the traffic noise, you have to run an extremely noisy A/C unit.

Needless to say, not a pleasant experience.

Owner's Response: I am VERY saddened by this review as you can see by all of our others, we have had nothing but 5 stars! This guest was here for her husband's surgery so I am not sure if a rental Home Away property was the place for them. I have a cleaning crew come in after each guest stays and details it so that I would feel cozy living back there. I also double check things before the guest arrives so I know that there were no cobwebs. Secondly, our home is very quiet-my bedroom is on the same side of street as backhome so I know it isn't noisy. They are from NM so may not be used to being in the city. I stay back there mnthly to make sure everything is in TIPTOP SHAPE! There was just nothing I could do to make the guest happy. From the start, I could tell it was going to be a disaster. She broke the door knob with the key in it, and locked herself out, so I had to hire a repairman to replace door knob in which she didn't even acknowledge. She then didn't like her parking spot, so my husband gave up his parking spot for her and she still complained. I have VERY detailed instructions in my Welcome Letter about how we have "Grounded Electricity" for the backhome and she just didn't understand or refused to listen when I tried to explain. We were told by an electrician that this would be the safer route to go if we were going to have guests come and go all the time without us being present. No light bulbs were out as I checked the day they left. I do a walk thru as soon as guests check out and everything she has listed above are things that either are not true or she just didn't understand. It's upsetting to me bc as a host, I go ABOVE AND BEYOND to make my guests feel like they are at home! But there are those who expect a Ritz Carlton type experience when paying for our place which is less than the Holiday Inn charges. All of our bedding, linens, and towels are from Horchow and Neiman Marcus. Our bath products are all Asprey London which the Ritz carries in their hotels. We put together a Welcome basket with drinks, snacks, and toiletries. We have different types of pillows so you can be completely comfortable. We have top of the line kitchen ware and Keurig maker. We have large flatscreen tv with all premium channels with options of Netflix and Amazon as well. I just don't know what else I could possibly add to make our place have a higher quality. It almost hurts my feelings as I did everything in the world I could think of to make her happy and she was still rude.

Little Rock

Great location and wonderful stay in Dallas

We enjoyed a long weekend in Dallas and felt right at home in the guesthouse! The location is great. Close to tons of restaurants and the SMU campus. The 16' ceilings and cathedral windows are beautiful and the kitchen had everything we needed. We cancelled our hotel reservations when we saw this listing and were happy we did! Hope to get back there soon!

My wife and I found this rental to be a delightful experience.

My wife and I stayed in the rental property for 30 days while I recovered from some medical work. The property was accurately described and met all of our expectations. The lay-out of the living space was quite efficient and well thought-out by the owners. It was well maintained and had all of the amenities one needs for a short or longer stay. Our few requests were promptly and satisfactorily handled by the owner. The property location is terrific ... everything you could want is within a short drive distance or even walking distance if you were ambitious enough. Since we were there for a month, Trader Joes became a frequent source for our dinner needs whenever we chose to cook-in. The place is really quiet and private as advertised. The cathedral ceiling and huge window made it a delightful place to stay. We would highly recommend this property for short stays or longer ones such as ours.

This studio style, basically apartment, was absolutely perfect for our family. Julia had great communication prior to arrival. Finding it and getting in was easy, even though it was late at night when we arrived. She had a little welcome basket waiting, aside from it being an overall cozy and welcoming place. Julia was always a phone call away and checked in with us while we were there. Our trip was a week, and we had no issues the entire time! Location was great - 15-20 minutes or less to any of the bigger venues. There was also plenty to do within walking distance, if you wanted to stay closer or have a more relaxing day. The neighborhood was beautiful and safe. I think we actually left our van door open (love those automatic shutting ones) one night and it was untouched! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great little place to stay within the city and great location, clean, everything you could possible need and a great hostess - as well as economical!

Wonderful Stay!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay. The back-house, location, amenities included and Julia herself were all above and beyond expectations. The power went out Saturday morning right before we left for the day and Julia handled the situation promptly and when we returned power was restored! Can't wait to come back and stay here again!

Excellent accommodations, better than any hotel!

We booked this rental on the Fourth of July weekend as a last minute choice because we were hesitant to stay in just another hotel. We showed up late with your two children and had absolutely no issues accessing the room or any of the amenities listed on the property description. The property was beautiful and laid out in the exact manner that Julia described. We were so happy with our decision to stay here. The room was clean, updated, and cozy and all the little "extras" made our stay feel more like an actual vacation that we would have gotten at a hotel. The location of the property was ideal for us and the longest we had to drive in any direction to get to our destinations was maybe 30 min. We were able to take our time and cook breakfast for our children in the kitchen each morning, do laundry and basically just sit back and enjoy our time in Dallas. We are already discussing our next trip and our desire to book the property again. Thank you Julia for providing such a lovely place for us to borrow. We definitely look forward to coming back.
