The Nashack is well known for its eclectic charm and has been preserved with wonderful, historic splendor. This house, which is only eight houses from the corner of the Inkwell and Town Beach, is known for its stunning views. We stayed at this property for a long weekend in June. The house is very charming and feels like an old fashioned New England beach house. Yeah, the floors creak and the kitchen is a bit dated, but that simply adds to the experience.
There are many nooks and crannies for curling up and reading a book, and lots of cozy common areas where our family could gather and just hang out.
The location is excellent - close to all of the great activities, shopping, and dining options that Oak Bluffs has to offer.
Steven, the owner, was an absolute pleasure to work with - very friendly, responsive, and accommodating. Overall it was a great stay and we're looking forward to doing it again!
Overall Great Location! Walking distance from the ferry, to down town, and to the beach. It was so easy for me because everyone was arriving at different times and I didn't have to run shuttles back and forth from the ferry. It was so convenient to be able to walk to the beach and to go out at night. This made it easy for the entire group to meet up at the beach or leave when they wanted to go home at night.
The house had everything we needed and everyone was comfortable sleeping at night. Great side yard for outdoor games and grilling out. The front patio/deck was very nice and it was great for relaxing in the afternoon while everyone was getting ready for the evening.
Outdoor shower had great water pressure and was perfect for after the beach.
Already thinking about renting it again next year. I just hope we have the same weather.
Overall excellent experience at this home. Location is great, the home is a little older but kept in good condition. One can tell the home is laid out somewhat oddly, but is still homely. Owners were very responsive and a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend this home, and will probably come again in the future.
We spent a great deal of time on the front porch due to the great view of the park and the distant view of the water. Location was great, just a 1/2 mile walk to downtown. The home was old but fairly well maintained. The kitchen, however, could definitely use an upgrade. It was worn and somewhat dirty. Many of the dishes and glasses were chipped and dusty. Tires were flat on the bicycles. Suggest when you arrive and leave that someone accompany you throughout the house to verify that there are no issues. We were notified 2 1/2 weeks after leaving that there we're burn marks on the kitchen counter. The counter was old and had several cut marks in it. No one in our party recalls burn marks before we left. In fact, the cleaning crew came in as we were packing up to leave and commented how clean the place looked. All in all it was an enjoyable experience unfortunately marred by an issue with the return of the security deposit.
We stayed here with our two young children (5 and 1) for a few days in early June. You couldn't ask for a better location, particularly since the weather wasn't completely cooperative. It is a very short walk to the beach, or to the arcade when rainy. The park across the street was a great place to fly kites or just run around. There is no partking at the house, but plenty of on street parking. As you can see from the photo, the house is pretty close to the street. The street was busier than I expected, but only during the day.
The house itself is very clean and well maintained. It is an older home and has some of the "quirks" to be expected with a home of that era (some sloping floors, narrow steep stairs, and an unusual layout). The kitchen is not fancy, but has everything you need. The main bathroom upstairs is modern and very functional. The second bathroom downstairs is very small, but serves its purpose. The beds were comfortable enough (although the sheets from the rental company were terrible! - bring your own if you can)
The owner was very friendly, prompt and reliable. There is someone on the island to help if needed, but we did not have any problems.
Other Activities: clamming, Kayaking, frisbee golf
Golf: 2 golf courses both frequented by several Presidents
