Carolyn Wheeler purchased this house in 2011
This vacation rental property is adjacent to our sixth generation family farm and we wish to help maintain the open space for farming and the scenic value of the area.
Wheel-View Farm is a 320 acre working diversified farm (apples, hay, maple syrup, beef cattle, hard cider.), 2 hours west of Boston, MA, and 1 1/4 hours north of Hartford, CT, and located in a 4-season resort area. Families and other visitors are welcome year round. Tours of the farm are available if you call ahead. Our house has four bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathrooms and is comfortably furnished. All rates include electricity, oil heat, central air conditioning, satellite Internet and TV.
My husband and I stayed at Wheel-View Farm in Shelburne, MA and had an amazing time. We wanted to get away from all the city noise, and this turned out to be the perfect place. The house has 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, spacious living room and a full-sized kitchen (perfect for a large group), but we spent a majority of our time relaxing and grilling on a beautiful deck overlooking a peach and apple orchard.
Everything in the house was well maintained and clean, and everything (dishes, linens, towels, etc.) we needed for a long stay was provided. The owners, Carolyn and John live up the hill from the rental house, and are just a phone call away if anything is needed. The greatest thing about staying at Wheel-View Farm is that Carolyn and John raise USDA certified grass-fed beef, and sell farm fresh eggs, so we had locally raised food at our fingertips: eggs for breakfast, burgers and steaks for dinner, followed by succulent peaches for dessert (not to forget a plate of peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies that Carolyn welcomed us with)! Peaches and apples were in season, so we picked some to take home with us.
Shelburne is minutes away from Shelburne Falls, Greenfield and Northampton, so there is a lot to do in the area. We were interested in checking out dairy and grain farms, and there are many to choose from. The property has a good-sized yard in the back and great hills for hiking. We truly had a fantastic time and highly recommend staying at Wheel-View Farm.
We just spent almost 2 weeks at this house and we had a wonderful time. This house is very spacious, clean and well maintained. There is everything you need to stay and cook for the family even when you are snowed in. Our little girls were excited seeing cows next to the house and there was plenty of room to run around. Carolyn was always happy to help and even showed our girls their newborn calf. We can highly recommend this house for your getaway. Thank you for everything, we'll be back again!
Fantastic weekend getaway. Plenty of room for our entire family. Our children enjoyed a tour of the farm and were able to make their own Apple cinder! Steaks from the farm were excellent! House was neat, clean and had everything we needed.
Great fall family get away. Plenty of space
For all the adults and kids.
Beautiful scenery!!! Relaxing setting.
Beef from John and Carolyn's Wheel View Farm was a dinner treat.
In the fall, sitting atop a hill in the pastoral countryside of Shelburne Falls, this farmhouse offers outstanding panoramic views. Picture a majestic sunrise, leisurely breaking against a backdrop of mountains, and a landscape that mother nature has cloaked in all her brilliant fall attire. Interweave the serene image of cows passively grazing in the nearby fields and the sweet scent of apples from the onsite orchards. Instantly, a weekend that was set aside for a Fall Family Getaway begins to take on a magical life of its own.
Inside, this clean and spacious ranch-style home immediately generates a sensation of "welcome home, kick off your shoes, grab a book, put your feet up and relax". And, with a simple click, you can effortlessly add the ambience of firelight as well as warmth on a chilly fall evening. A well-equipped kitchen lends itself to a full range of meals. Whether your menu be rustically simple or that of fine dining, be certain to check with near-by owners, Carolyn and John Wheeler, Wheel-View Farm, in order to incorporate some of the area's best organic grass-fed beef. (We chose rib eye steaks to cook on the outdoor gas grill and we all agreed that they were simply delicious).
Whether you hike the trails, tour the countryside, walk the Bridge of Flowers, visit the glacial pot holes or the many farm stands in the area, we can guarantee you will enjoy ending your day back at the house......the perfect spot to unplug , unwind and focus on the lost art of conversation.
On behalf of my children, my grandchildren and myself, I say "Thank you Carolyn and John for making our extended weekend reunion a memory-making experience. Your gracious hospitality went above and beyond "
Went there with seven friends (women) We had such a wonderful time,,,felt right at home as soon as we walked through the door! We happened to be there for the Blood Moon Eclipse....had the best seats in the house! Plenty of space,,,very very clean ...Carolyn and John were very friendly and accommodating....got to visit their farm...lots of amenities,,,,full beautiful kitchen...plenty of bathrooms....downstairs was another apartment...player piano...books galore! (another plus!) close enough to highway but away from hustle and bustle....if you are looking for peace and quiet...this is your place...bring your camera...the morning out on the back deck will astound you...this property is a jewel! Can't wait to go back!
Eight of us stayed there last weekend. The house was beautiful. The views were spectacular. We were a little early for foliage colors, but that didn't matter, it was still stunning, and we were there for the "red moon". We never felt crowded. Between the four bedrooms and two and a half baths, it worked even for eight women!! It was a short ride to the Bridge of Flowers, Magic Wings (butterfly sanctuary), we even did a wine tasting in Amherst at the Winery!! I have lived in Massachusetts all my life and kept thinking I was out of state and not just two hours from home. Carolyn is a very gracious host and gave us a tour of her cider set up.
