About Thea

I am Italian and I have been living in this beautiful area for almost 40 years. I know it very well since I have been working in the local tourism industry for 25 years and will be happy to provide you with all the information you may need to have a great vacation! I am not going to be present during your stay but will be available via phone, e-mail or text. I have 2 large dogs who stay in the property sometime when there are no guests. Please feel free to contact me with any question. Although I am fluent only in English and Italian I will be able to exchange written communications also in German, French, Spanish and Portuguese. I am a nature lover and, if you are too, I can give you suggestions for hikes and excursions around this area. My dogs are my best friends and I understand the importance to share a vacation with them. If you are a responsible dog owner and your pet is well behaved, both of you are going to really enjoy the house!

Thea purchased this house in 1993

Why Thea chose California

My husband and I bought this property 20 years ago and put a lot of work in it to make it spacious and comfortable. His green thumb and artistic nature transformed a yard of gravel and cement in a lush garden with trees, shrubs and flowers everywhere. Although the property is located very close to the city we love the tranquility of this area and the proximity to beaches, forests and mountains. A very relaxing place without crime, noise and pollution.

What makes this house unique

This is the perfect place to relax and rest after a fun filled day of sightseeing and exploring the magnificent region with all its amenities,

Beautiful and relaxing retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay at Thea's beautiful garden retreat. Here's why:

1) Thea was a wonderful host from start to finish. She was very proactive in our discussions prior to the trip and made sure we had all the information we needed to be comfortable during our stay. And she kicked off our stay with a nice surprise which made us really feel at home. (Thank you, Thea!)

2) Location was great! Initially we wanted a place in Sausalito because our kids (with a young family) live there, but their space is too small for comfortable grandparent's visit. We needed a place that was easy for them to go back and forth to their home base. As it turned out, this location was super easy access to Sausalito, even during the high traffic of Fleet Week. And with the amazing grocery store within 5 minutes - it was easy to grab food and eat at home. Saving money and time during our visit.

3) The home itself is lovely and very comfortable. The layout flows well and feels very open. The living room has three large and very comfortable couches surrounding a cozy gas fireplace that we used every night. Our favorite hanging out space was either the outside garden area or the huge dining room table that looked out on the garden with big french doors. We had two small children around much of the time, and they had plenty of run around space and we didn't have to worry about them breaking anything. The country style furniture is very sturdy, yet comfortable.

4) Great kitchen that was well stocked with spices, coffee (!!) and tea, and cooking tools. This made it easy to eat at "home", great for families who want to spend less money on food while traveling in this area.

5) Nice Laundry Room - we had small children playing in the garden. No explanation needed! :)

6) The two bedrooms were nice sized and had very comfortable beds and bedding. We also made use of the pull out couch bed one night. it was also pretty comfortable for that type of unit and Thea had plenty of extra linens.

7) While there was only one bathroom, it was nice sized and worked fine for us even though we had 5-7 people hanging around most of the time during the day.

We absolutely had a wonderful time and hope to come back some day. Thank you, Thea!

Perfect family retreat when visiting Bay Area

  • 5 of 5

We traveled from San Diego to San Francisco for a wedding at the Corinthian Yacht Club in Tiburon! Thea's home was the PERFECT location for our children to stay with their grandparents while we were busy with wedding festivities! Our 7 month old loves crawling around the open floor plan while our older boys' imaginations went wild in the garden that opens up to a playground and dog park! We were especially grateful Thea allowed us to bring our pug! The home is actually a lot bigger than photographed, beautifully decorated, lots of natural sunlight and comfortable! She generously has the pantry fully stocked with spices, vinegars, coffees and teas, while the bathroom had soaps and amenities! We loved eating as a family in the large dining table and lounging in the reclining sofa watching movies on the mounted flat screen on the wall! Our SoCal boys loved the chilly Bay Area weather and using her gas fireplace at night! The idea of staying in the hustle and bustle of SF was overwhelming for me. Thea's home was a refuge and a calm place to retreat to after a busy day. I was so happy we stayed here because it was conveniently located to everything and in a safe neighborhood! In our 3 night stay we went to the Exploratorium, Muir Woods, Tiburon, Muir Beach and enjoyed the hiking trails in Tennessee Valley to the beach! We are already planning our return and hopes to stay here again! Thank you Thea! You're professionalism and hospitality is unmatched!

Charming garden home with fantastic proximity to all things bay related!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four(parents and teenage boys) loved staying at Thea's garden retreat. The home is clean, comfortable and decorated with lovely furnishings. We enjoyed the down comforters on chilly mornings and appreciated the nice bedding. The kitchen is well-stocked and we were pleasantly surprised that many amenities(coffee etc.) were already in the cupboards! We enjoyed drinking coffee in the backyard and viewing the beautiful gardens(saw many hummingbirds). Our favorite part of every day was coming home late afternoon and enjoying the sun-drenched warmth of the California sunshine streaming in through the back doors!

The proximity to all the sites in the bay area is perfect. We day tripped to San Fran, Muir Woods, Point Reyes, Sonoma and Half Moon Bay. It is the perfect location! I highly recommend this home and would love to go back again. The Swenson Family, St.Paul, MN

Secret garden retreat with access to all San Francisco has to offer

  • 5 of 5

My family (two adults and two small children) really enjoyed this home for a week in July. The home is well appointed with a very functional kitchen and clean bedrooms. Great living space. The gardens in the back are beautiful and have a "secret" door to a wonderful community park that our kids enjoyed almost every evening after our adventures.

The best part of this home though is its proximity to fantastic sights in and around San Francisco. The Golden Gate bridge is 10 minutes away or if you prefer a ferry ride you can catch that from Sausalito (5 minutes away). The home is close to Muir Beach and Muir Woods and Napa Valley is about 30-45 minutes away. A great base of operations to see a lot of the San Francisco Bay area.

Highly recommend.
