This cabin has been in my family since my grandfather and uncle purchased it 52 years ago. It has been owned for the last 40+ years by my father who passed in the last year. In the past 15 years we have upgraded the place to a modern home with all the amenities. In the past month my family has purchased the cabin. I have 5 kids between the age of 9-20 years old. 3 girls and 2 boys. I hope to create lots of memories for the future and someday pass the property to my kids.
paul purchased this cabin in 1962
The reason that my family purchased land in this area was my uncle was a caretaker at the Lutheran bible camp up the road. Mount Carmel
The lake is large, weed free, and great for swimming.
This is the second time we have stayed at the Freeberg cabin and I would definitely recommend the cabin. The cabin is always clean with great accommodations. We really enjoyed the back yard with the grill area and firepit. We also enjoyed the hot tub to warm up after a cool rainy day on the lake. We brought our own boat and the boat lift worked perfect to store our boat overnight. The owner is very nice and easy to work with! He is very accommodating. Overall this is a wonderful place to enjoy your time at the lake.
Although we chose the hottest week of the year, we still had an awesome time! We had been out in the boats at 100 degree + 'feel-like' temps for over 5 hours a day (got nice tans - lol), but we were able to come back to an air conditioned cabin, a hot tub we turned down as cool as it could be, and had all the things you have at home. The TV is limited, but we played Trivial Pursuit instead while our steaks were on the grill (both gas and charcoal are available). The washer/dryer are very convenient, and so is the fish cleaning station. We took FULL advantage of the fire pit (fire wood supplied) - the back yard is very nice! The only thing I had problems with is the well water - it's drinkable, but I don't like it. Bring lots of drinking water - there is a reverse osmosis system installed - just call me crazy. We plan to book a whole week next year (depending on schedules) - but we had a BLAST!!!!
This worked great for our girls get away! The layout of the home has a large kitchen that is open to the living and dining room it worked great for multiple people to help with kitchen prep, and still be able to socialize with everyone. The large sleeping rooms and generously sized bathrooms made this cabin feel more like a house than a cabin.
We thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors with ample backyard seating, a wonderful fire pit and relaxing hot tub. The lake across the street had a dock that jetted out to a crystal clear shoreline! We were lucky enough to have a PERFECT day on the lake!
Would definitely recommend to familys and group gatherings.
Overall, I was very pleased with our stay. While I knew that the landing was on the other side of the street, I thought it would be more directly across. It was unclear which landing was the one to use; I felt there should have been house numbers on the stairs leading down to the landing. We didn't use the swimming dock or the water toys as they were on the shore and looked like they hadn't been used in a while. I did contact the owner regarding the swimming dock. He said he didn't have it in the water because people with boats thought it was in the way. He did say I could put it in the water. As I have never done that before, I didn't feel comfortable putting it in. So, if you want the swimming dock, make sure you ask for it. The hot tub had a green tint to it. I was assured that this was because of the well water and that all the levels were ok. We didn't use it. The grills were great. The fire pit was awesome. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need. The beds were very comfortable. I would not hesitate to rent this property again.
My husband and I along with my mother in law and brother in law rented this cabin for a family wedding in Alexandria. We wanted something close to the event on Lake Louise and found this cabin was PERFECT - we were able to relax between all the events and we all had plenty of room and fresh coffee in the morning. Loved watching the birds and squirrels in the back yard. Will keep this in mind for 2017 for sure!
My husband, I, and 2 work friends went up to exclusively go fishing and party. On our date of arrival, we went up early to fish before we checked in. Unfortunately, it rained the whole day, was windy and chilly. We had complete rain gear, but after about 4 hrs. in the cold, windy rain, it was getting miserable. I called Paul, and we were allowed to enter the cabin a few hours early. (THANK YOU PAUL!!!!) Once we got unloaded, it was very enjoyable to hit the hot tub or over sized bathtub in the master bedroom to warm up!!! (We did turn the hot tub temp up while we were there, but turned it back down before we left.) The interior of the cabin is VERY clean, well stocked, and comfortable. We found it very convenient to have a large number of board games available with the rainy nights. The family pix made it very homey - you care about the place - Very nice.
Being fisher people, we don't mind the 'first landing' being about 1.5 miles down the road. We roam all over the lakes, so we checked out a bunch of landings. Having a private landing was not important to us. We DID catch a few sunfish off the dock, and saw some small northern, but being out on the lake in a boat was the best fishing. We did not go into the 'beach house' for toys, but it looked well stocked for swimming with kids and the yellow swimming dock off the boat dock looked like fun for kids.
Overall - this was an excellent vacation and will be booking for a week next year! And the price was cheaper than anything else we looked at. Paul was just a phone call way, and he encouraged us to call if we needed anything at all. He had wireless internet connection which worked great. All in all, if you want to "get away" from it all, with a hot tub, wireless if you need it, plus multiple lakes to fish, this is the place to book. Thanks Paul !!!!
