Cute and homey
Served our needs. I served as a stylist during our stay for a wedding and brought my family along. We were only on this property to sleep and shower. I’m grateful that coffee filters, toilet paper and hand wash were provided. Our only hang up here was the short walkway to the house from the parking pad was very dark. Carrying luggage and a young child with special needs (leaving no free hand to operate my flashlight) was a challenge. Me and my family were comfortable!
Fun and Different
This is a "vacation rental" and not really a "business hotel", but I like staying at unusual places when I travel on business. Do not expect little bars of soap or containers of shampoo and conditioner, or boxes of tissues. On my third day, after poking around the kitchen a bit, I did find some coffee and filters to use in the coffeemaker, which was nice. There's a wood-burning stove, but no firewood was provided. Arriving after dark on my first two nights I was wood-less, but on the third day I arrived in the afternoon and found a couple of guys selling nicely-split wood by the roadside approaching Big Canoe. Heat and hot water worked well, and there were plenty of bedlinens and blankets. Big Canoe itself is amazing - an 8,000-acre development that feels a lot like a state park of the 1970s. I had dinner one night at the Black Bear Pub located in the lakefront Clubhouse, and it was excellent.
Great place to relax
This is the 3rd time we rented this house and we will return. We like the nice cozy felling of this house and we always have alot of fun at Big Canoe.
Not as advertised
Not as described. WiFi didn't work, didn't have two bunk-beds as the photos lead you to believe. States that hot tub and associated amenities are available, but are not included. We ended up spending an extra $35 to use a hot tub that was supposed to be included. The place is poorly maintained, the sheets had brown stains on them, the tub didn't hold water and the owner was defiant and indignant.
Hi Bill, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your stay fell short of expectations! We do apologize for any confusion about access to community amenities – it is noted that while the rental gives you access to multiple facilities, a small fee is required for their use. We have shared your comments with the homeowner and continue to work with them to ensure that every guest has a pleasant and comfortable stay in their home. Best, the Evolve Team
The place had a no soap for bath room, we kill about 8-10 roaches, the place was dusty, TV in bedroom was 12" and only 1 channel , refrigerator froze all the food and drinks
Thanks for taking the time to leave this review. We are very sorry for the issues you encountered. As we strive to provide each guest with a great experience, we have passed your feedback along to the homeowner, who let us know that the soap has been replenished and the refrigerator has been reset so as not to freeze its contents. Thanks again! Best, The Evolve Team
Not worth what we paid.
Though I liked this home, I would not recommend for families with small children. The winding staircase inside was dangerous. We came in late in the evening, well after dark. There are no lights to light up the walk way. The steps were tricky at best. The owner has been adding updates, since the pictures and reality are different. Being that it is a cabin, there is a musty smell. The area is beautiful but there are other cabins in the area that much nicer and do not cost as much as this one did per night.
Kathy, We are sorry to hear your stay fell short of expectations. We've shared your feedback with the homeowner so that any possible updates may be made to ensure future guests have an exceptional stay in this vacation cabin. We and the homeowner take feedback from our guests very seriously, and we thank you for letting us know. Best, The Evolve Team
