There is an additional queen size sofa bed in the sun room bringing total beds to 5 with a maximum occupancy of 6+ (but remember ... only two bathrooms)

5 minutes walk to several restaurants and shops in Stockbridge town center. A pleasant 1.1 mile stroll to the Norman Rockwell Museum (ask us for the picturesque woodland route) 5 minutes drive to Tanglewood.

Easy access to Tanglewood and all the delights of the Berkshire summer season including the many stages of the Berkshire Theatre Festival.

Ask us about Tanglewood/Shakespeare tickets (we sometimes have discounted tickets) and picnic chairs for the summer season.

This 2 bedroom 2 bath cottage dates from the 1800's and was the former carriage house of the 1792 built main house. Norman Rockwell's close friend Doctor Donald Campbell used part of the main house as his doctor's office and is featured in the Rockwell painting 'Before the Shot'.

Other nearby attractions include the Norman Rockwell Museum, Chesterwood, Jacobs Pillow, Kripalu Yoga Center, The Mount (Edith Warton's wonderful property), Canyon Ranch and the Cranwell Resort and Spa in the neighboring village of Lenox, Stockbridge Bowl, Berkshire Botanical Garden and Alice's Restaurant to name just a few.

Why Ruth & Gareth chose Berkshires

The cottage is part of a 1792 built estate that was once owned by Norman Rockwell's great friend Doctor Donald Campbell. The Doctor and his family appear in many of Rockwell's paintings including the most famous Before the Shot that was actually painted in part of the main house that was used as the doctors surgery.

Another wonderful two weeks!

  • 5 of 5

We just finished a lovely two weeks in Stockbridge in this wonderful cottage. We did the same thing last year and were eager to come back. THe house is so nicely updated and so comfortable. We never feel like we want for a thing and neither does our four-footed companion. And Ruth and Gareth, the owners are more than accommodating. We're already looking at next year's calendar!

The Enchanted Cottage

  • 5 of 5

That's what it is. Everything was perfect with the one exception of the rainy,

overcast days. But since all else was wonderful that's what we remember

about our stay. We had lived in this very same cottage, "The Campbell Cottage", owned by Dr. Campbell who lived in the big house next to it, 45 years ago and it was where we started our family. In the meantime, the

present owners have renovated the cottage beautifully. I look forward to

going back. Maybe even including our 45 year old twin sons and their

families. We six, and a little baby would perfectly fit. The stars say it all!

A wonderful Berkshire getaway

  • 5 of 5

We spent a lovely two weeks in the owners' lovely 2 br, 2bath cottage, along with our family four-footed friend. The house is beautifully appointed with anything one could want and the owners, who live next door, were more than accommodating to any additional needs. The house was an easy 5 minute walk to downtown Stockbridge and an easy drive to all the Berkshire attractions. We'll be back!

Comfortable and Spacious

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were more than happy with the cottage. Unfortunately for us, the owners had to be out of town for a wedding so we only met them briefly as we were leaving at the end of our stay, but they were available to answer any questions we had and were so gracious to leave a refrigerator stocked with essentials for breakfast.

The cottage seems to have been recently updated with beautiful bathrooms. The water pressure in the master shower was spectacular!

The location was super convenient. We walked into town multiple times each day as it was so close. Although the house is on a main street it was very quiet in the cottage and we slept well.

We look forward to staying again in the future.

Luxury and space in idyllic surroundings

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was beautiful, with every convenience. Ruth and Gareth, the owners in the house next door, had thoughtfully provided a comprehensive supply of food and drink items to ease us into the evening and our first breakfast. They were also more than helpful when we had a problem operating the drier, and quickly dried our things themselves. The gardens around the house were lovely with views of the river. The Red Lion Inn is a beautiful old place with lots of interesting curios and fantastic food. We also ate extremely well at Once Upon a Table just a few yards further down Main Street. When you stay here you must make time to visit the Norman Rockwell Museum and the Shaker Village (food was great here too) Both of which are superb. I have already recommended the cottage and area to friends and colleagues.
