The cottage is part of a 1792 built estate that was once owned by Norman Rockwell's great friend Doctor Donald Campbell. The Doctor and his family appear in many of Rockwell's paintings including the most famous Before the Shot that was actually painted in part of the main house that was used as the doctors surgery.

What a warm and charming cottage! The location is extremely convenient. Ruth and Gareth were very welcoming. We will stay agian.
Gareth was the helpful host of this lovely cottage, within walking distance to the Red Lion and the shops in Stockbridge. It has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths making it excellent for 2 couples. Very comfortable and cozy for our autumn weekend in the Berkshires.
Great host. Property is perfect for couples to explore Western Mass. and Vermont.
Our family of three adults spent a delightful August week in Ruth and Gareth's charming cottage. We are seasoned Berkshire visitors and we've sampled a wide variety of accommodations over the years. For us, this place is clearly tops. There's plenty of space, lots of sunlight, and (in our case) there's serious central air conditioning for those days when it's muggy and warm.
The kitchen and baths have "all mod cons" and the entire place is so clean it feels almost brand new. Our hosts were readily available for consultation, but we were in fine shape almost every minute. It's a rare treat to be able to gaze at the beautiful view out the back window at the "Housatonic at Stockbridge," calm and still, just as it was more than a century ago when Charles Ives chose the spot for one of his "Three Places in New England."
We just finished a lovely two weeks in Stockbridge in this wonderful cottage. We did the same thing last year and were eager to come back. THe house is so nicely updated and so comfortable. We never feel like we want for a thing and neither does our four-footed companion. And Ruth and Gareth, the owners are more than accommodating. We're already looking at next year's calendar!
That's what it is. Everything was perfect with the one exception of the rainy,
overcast days. But since all else was wonderful that's what we remember
about our stay. We had lived in this very same cottage, "The Campbell Cottage", owned by Dr. Campbell who lived in the big house next to it, 45 years ago and it was where we started our family. In the meantime, the
present owners have renovated the cottage beautifully. I look forward to
going back. Maybe even including our 45 year old twin sons and their
families. We six, and a little baby would perfectly fit. The stars say it all!
