About Narciso 'Narci' Tavas
My name is Narciso 'Narci' Tavas. I am a retired electrical engineer who came to the United States from the Philippines through employment with a global CPG firm with whom I had a long career. I greatly enjoyed the travels that came with my employment. I had memorable stays in Europe, particularly a one-year assignment in the Canary Islands, Spain. I have six children who grew up in Chicago, all of whom live within a short drive of Lincoln Square. I am a widower but happily re-married and live about a two-minute drive from this property. My wife and I enjoy times with the family, grandkids, travel, church functions, dining out and ballroom dancing.
Narciso 'Narci' Tavas purchased this Apartment in 1997
Why Narciso 'Narci' Tavas chose North Center
The family and I love this property because of the neighborhood it's in and the rich experiences we enjoy from living in the area. It has great access to public transportation and is steps away from anything a traveler would want.
What makes this Apartment unique
The neighborhood plays a huge part, but the place is special for its openness and multi-faceted history. It had once been a restaurant, business office, an art gallery, wine-tasting site and most importantly, a place for family get-togethers.

Wow! Our stay was perfect!
We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay. It was clean, well equipped and the owner was very informative and so helpful. We give it our highest recommendation.
Nice neighborhood. Easy to get Uber pickups and returns.
Spacious. Clean. Comfortable. One cold shower. Property owner restored the hot water promptly after my call. Just what I needed for a place to stay at night while I visited my daughter in Uptown and while I was a tourist downtown Chicago during the day.
Fantastic spot to explore chicago!
We loved our stay here. The operator was very friendly and a helpful city guide. We went to 2 cubs games and walked home after each game . About 45 minutes without bar stops. Perfect spot for a couple. Would recommend and would definitely stay again!
Location, Location, Location
Overall, I enjoyed staying at this property. The price is reasonable for the location its in. However, there were a few minor problems. Pros and Cons:
Location. So much to do in the area, the cta stop is at the end of the block and the El (Brown Line) is a half mile walk. Owner was friendly and accommodating. Back yard is very nice and relaxing for hanging out or a bbq.
Tiny bathroom. No place to put your toiletries if they don't fit in the medicine cabinet.
I had no hot water for the first two days of my stay, then no wifi for the next four days. However, owner fixed both and compensated me fairly afterwards for my inconvenience.
Broken ceiling fan in living room, but there was a floor fan, which was a good plan B.
There wasn't enough toilet paper or paper towels. I was booked for 8 days and when I arrived there was just over one roll of TP and an almost empty paper towel roll. I bought some TP myself and used some of the wash cloths when paper towels ran out.
If you like to sleep in, that may be difficult here as the mini blinds and sheer curtains do little to darken the bedroom at night because of the streetlight right outside, or in the morning from the sunlight. That didn't bother me, but if you like it dark it could be unpleasant.
Again, the stay was overall pleasant save for a few minor inconveniences. I would stay here again.
Very spacious and great location.
Perfect Affordable location
It was exactly what we were looking for. Great courtyard.
This property is located in Lincoln Square, a neighborhood in Chicago's northside that takes pride in its richly interwoven cultures and one-of-a-kind businesses that are endearing even for a diverse city like Chicago. Specialty shops like Merz Apothecary, Ash's Magic Shop, Timeless Toys and Gene's Sausage Shop and Fine Wine Brokers are but a few memorable stops in the area. Lincoln Square is a quaint enclave within a city rich in industry, finance, arts, architecture, blues/jazz, theater and ethnic neighborhoods. Amidst the urban bustle lies Lincoln Square's quiet, tree-lined streets where both residents and visitors enjoy year-round events, shopping, food and music festivals, gourmet and casual dining, neighborhood pubs, park activities, sightseeing, farmers markets, local craft beers and festivities like Oktoberfest that draw crowds from other states and countries. Some call the area 'Little Europe' for its European-style cafes, delis and specialty stores. Over its long and rich history, Lincoln Square has been settled by waves of immigrants from Germany, Greece, Eastern Europe, Asia and Mexico who have enriched the economy and traditions of the neighborhood. Cuisines from all continents are amply represented here.
Lincoln Square is also home to the world-renowned Old Town School of Folk Music, which, since moving to the neighborhood in the late 90's, has made the area a go-to destination for dining and nightlife. Many well-known folk, world, bluegrass, jazz, blues and country musicians from all over the world perform at the Old Town School of Music. Pete Seeger, Ottman Lieber, Mahalia Jackson, John Prine, Steve Goodman, Earl Klugh and Bonnie Koloc, Rickie Lee Jones, to name a few, have held concerts there.
