Keywords: Our log cabin is located on a peaceful, private lot in a beautiful valley setting. Located just 3 miles from Historic Blowing Rock, NC. and within walking distance of Bolick and Traditions Pottery.
Our names are Dell & Ina Bolick. We have been married for 52 years and have lived on this property where Dell was raised for 45 years. We have 6 children, 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. We are both semi-retired, Dell being a crane operator and I am a potter. We both enjoy spending time with our family. Dell is a hunter and I enjoy working in my flowers.
Ina Bolick purchased this cabin in 2006
The older part of this cabin was first used as a barn. Built in Montgomery County NC, it is believed to have been in the late
1800’s to very early 1900’s.
My daddy, M.L. Owens bought the barn from a family member of the original owner in the late 1970’s. He took it down and moved it to his and mama’s property at Owens Pottery in Seagrove, NC and rebuilt it there. After his death in 2003 my brothers and sisters gave us the cabin. We numbered each log as we took it down and moved it here in 2004. We began rebuilding it in 2006 with a new addition. After five years of hard but loving work, we completed the cabin restoration in August of 2011.
The land that it stands on was given to us by Dell’s dad and mama, Vernon and Macie Bolick. All of the land surrounding us here has been in the Bolick family for many generations. We are proud of our heritage.
The name “Viola’s Cabin” is in Loving Memory of my sister Viola Owens Brady, who’s dream was to have a mountain cabin. Viola passed away in 1989 before that dream was possible. We wanted to share her dream with others who love the mountains as much as we do.
We are located just 3 short miles from shopping, restaurants, skiing and many other area attractions so no matter what you choose to do on your vacation, you won't have to travel too far. I enjoy the peace and quiet of the morning on my front porch with a cup of coffee. Listening the the crickets at night and going for a walk in the evening.
This little cabin is so amazing. My wife and I stayed here for a weekend for our anniversary and couldn't have asked for anything better. The cabin was perfect, the location was perfect and the owner was so polite. I would recommend anyone to stay here, and we cannot wait to be able to come back. Thank you so much for having us.
My wife, 2 daughters and I stayed here for a couple of nights as we visited Tweetsie and Boone. We enjoyed every minute of it. This was remote enough to feel like your were back in the 1920's yet had modern amemnities and easy access to Blowing Rock and Boone. My girls loved the roosters, goats and cows. Both mornings we were greeted by a different wandering dog that just wanted to hangout for 20 minutes and then moved on to another visit. Can't wait to get back. Thanks for making this gem available to us. God bless you.
My husband and I stayed in this lovely cabin for three nights. Our plan was to relax a little in the cabin and do a lot of sightseeing and eating in Blowing Rock and surrounding towns. When we realized we would actually be snowed in for our entire trip, we packed a cooler full of groceries and prepared to be snowed in. This is THE perfect cabin to be snowed in. Despite, the -6 windchill, we were so warm and cozy! We read a lot of books and went sledding. We were so relaxed and peaceful. The views were perfect. Ina called and offered to pick up groceries for us and when it was time for us to leave, two very sweet teenage boys helped us get our car unstuck from the snow so we could make it home. The hospitality shown really impressed us. Do yourself a favor and stay here. It was so clean and cozy.
Hello, Had a wonderful girls weekend with my mother and sister. We spent three nights at this wonderful cabin. When you walk in you can just feel the love. It reminds you of going to grandmas. The mountain view from the porch is very nice. We even had a momma deer and 2 fawns come up in the yard. Sitting in the swing watching the goats and chickens took us back to our childhood. Mrs. Ina the owner is the sweetest thing. Enjoyed talking with her and her sister over at the pottery shop across the street. Love my soup bowls I bought. Looking forward to going back.
My husband and I had planned a trip to the NC zoo but our plans got put on hold when storms came through the zoo closed up for the weekend. Found this little gem and called the owner to inquire about availability at the last minute. Turned out that there was a cancellation and was available for the weekend. We arrived late Friday night and stayed through Sunday morning. Such a beautiful place to unwind and relax with the family. Enjoyed playing and eating breakfast on the front porch with the kids. The kids loved the goats and chickens. Enjoyed swinging on the front porch with the kids and looking at the beautiful views of the mts. Very quiet and peaceful. I felt so at home. The cabin was clean and decorated beautifully. It is right off of Hwy. 321 and very convenient to Blowing Rock and Boone. We took the kids to Tweetsie and enjoyed a home cooked family meal at Daniel Boone Inn. We will definitely be going back. Thank you so much for your kindness and hospitality and sharing this little piece of heaven with us.
What a blessing to find a quaint cabin close to major roads, but in a quiet valley. Our family enjoyed the space to play cards, pet the goats, and fix our snacks in a wonderful cabin built in the 1800's. We definitely plan to return.
