4Bd/2Ba home an hour by Ferry from Seattle
After teaching for thirty four years, and repairing cars, and airplanes and investing in properties for even longer, we have retired to a life of 'snow birds', creating home(s) along the west coast, and traveling world wide. Our home on the McCormick Woods Golf Course is one of our favorites. When we are not playing with the house/ yard, or working on the computer, reading, visiting with friends and family, going for long walks through the Mc Cormick Woods neighborhood, 'working out' at the YMCA.
Lorraine purchased this House in 2008
Why Lorraine chose Port Orchard
We love the ambiance, especially the fresh air, forests, clear skies and the natural beauty of the Puget Sound area. It is a great place to take a deep breath, relax, enjoy nature, and explore the wealth of outdoor activities: walking, bicycling, boating, fishing, scuba diving, golfing, playing tennis or checking out the playground with your kids, you'll love the setting. Being removed from the hustle and bustle of major cities, yet still having easy access to Seattle and other favorites like Gig Harbor, Silverspring, Tacoma, and British Columbia has been an important consideration for us.
What makes this House unique
One chief advantage of staying here is the price: Housing in this area is very inexpensive for what you get. The neighborhood is exceptionally well maintained, and the semi-forested setting feels very peaceful.
100% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date. 50% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date.
It was beautiful and everything we could ask for.
Port Orchard Gem
This place was perfect for a family gathering. It was only 15 minutes to my brother-in-laws, felt like we were home. Everything you need, clean,, elegant yet comfortable furnishings. Perfect, perfect, perfect next time out to visit family this will be our first choice.
To top it off, the house is located in a very serene, peaceful neighborhood.
Very Quiet Neighborhood
We enjoyed our stay at this property very much. The house was clean and in a very quiet neighborhood. The 4 bedrooms were perfect so each of us could have our own room. The house could have had more cable channels other than basic cable. We were in town for a golf tournament and would have enjoyed watching the PGA Championship but were unable too. We were unable to get the washing machine to work but that could have been an error on our part. All in all I would stay at this property again. Thank you
Perfect location, beautiful home, just what we needed.
The house was clean and spacious. Easy to find and centrally located to everywhere we needed to go.
Lovely house in quiet neighborhood
We had a great time staying in this beautiful Port Orchard house. It was well maintained and very clean, the neighborhood was super tranquil and quiet and my kids found visits from the deer in the backyard very enchanting. It was convenient to groceries (under 10 minutes to Albertson's) with Bremerton and Tacoma not too far. We had plans specifically in Port Orchard, so it was a perfect spot for us. We hosted a dinner party and had no trouble cooking great food with the items in the kitchen (though if you have more than 8 people eating dinner, buy some paper plates). One unexpected feature: the dining room table leaves are in the entryway closet! We were able to expand the table making it much comfier for a big group to dine.
I would caution families with preschoolers and under that it's not the perfect house for very small children - the dining room has light colored carpet, and the breakfast nook has tall chairs that swivel, neither of which are ideal eating situations for a rambunctious 2 year old. The property doesn't provide cribs, plastic dishes, or anything for the little ones either; it's definitely geared more toward older travelers, which makes sense given how many people must stay here to golf. We made it work :)
Thanks very much for this lovely rental. There's not a huge amount of places for rent in Port Orchard that sleep more than 4 adults and we felt lucky to have found this one.
A stroller for little ones is available upon request.
So much better than any of the local hotels!
We came to town unexpectedly due to a death in our family, and decided to stay at this lovely home after a particularly bad experience last summer at a hotel in downtown Port Orchard. Although we live far away we grew up in the area and McCormick Woods is very familiar to us.
It was wonderful. Peaceful, quiet, dark at night. The ability to park in a garage and do laundry were added perks. We really felt "at home" and this helped ease some of the stress that we felt during this time.
We will definitely stay here again. Thank you Lorraine!
I'm glad we were able to provide the space for your much-needed respite. McCormick Woods is a wonderful place to relax and feel peaceful.
Located on McCormick Woods Golf Course community in Port Orchard. Slightly over an hour to Seattle by ferry or freeway. Great WA State Ferry System service throughout Puget Sound!
For business persons, retirees, avid golfers, and families this location is heaven. All of the homes, built around the award-winning McCormick Woods Golf Course, are well maintained, and the neighborhood has many walking and bike trails meandering throughout. In addition to the golf course, the local community has playgrounds for children, basketball hoops, volleyball courts and a baseball diamond within walking distance. Trophy Lake Golf and Casting Club is about three miles from the house, and the Gold Mountain Golf Course is within six miles.
Grocery stores, salons, gyms, restaurants, movie theaters and even a 24 hour Urgent Care are located with 4 miles of the house so you don’t have to go far for anything you might need.
Enjoy a meal, entertainment, or wedding reception at the McCormick Woods Clubhouse Restaurant and Bar, or drive down the Port Orchard waterfront for dinner at the Light House or Amy’s on the Bay. Live theater at the Western Center for Fine Arts, located near the Marina is fun, as well as the local Farmer’s Market and Antique stores. Be sure to take a scenic ferry ride to Seattle for a day of shopping, Pike’s Market, and/or ride the monorail, to check out the view of Puget Sound from the Space Needle. Additional day trip destinations include the Olympic Rain Forest, Ocean Shores and/or Mt. Rainier or Mt St. Helen’s. The Kitsap Transit and the WA State Ferry System can take you on a scenic journey to The San Juan Islands, and British Columbia.
The North West is beautiful; there is much to explore. You can immerse yourself in the beauty of nature, yet be close to the amenities of larger cities.
