This listing is for the booking of two available private rooms on the 2nd floor of this house, and NOT the entire house. There is a private bathroom in between both rooms, connecting them. The first room has a desk, closet, queen sized bed, and private patio. The private patio has several 8 foot fruit trees and ferns and is a pleasure to have a drink or smoke at any time. The second room (the one without the private patio), has a full sized bed, television, closet and two desks. The second room may only be used to sleep in if there is a reservation for more than 2 people. Just to make it clear, if you make a reservation with this listing, you are essentially booking both rooms, since they share a bathroom. For example, if you book this listing for two people, the other room will remain empty. If you're interested in using both rooms, where each person has their own room, please let me know and it will be an additional 30 dollars a night. Furthermore the current price only reflect a reservation for two people, each additional person after two people will cost 30 dollars per night. The rooms are very private and detached from other living spaces, therefore making noise is not a problem.
This property is one of the few remaining complete colonial houses In Old San Juan. The house was completely renovated to its former glory a little over 10 years ago. The house is about 4000 square feet and has 4 separate interior patios with lush vegetation. Guests can use the living and dinning rooms, as well as all the patios and kitchen. There are 16 foot ceilings with ceiling fans and air conditioners in every room on the first floor. There is limited use of the kitchen. You can use the refrigerator, microwave, plates, cups, and toaster, but no cooking. My mother and I live in the house with two cute dogs. There are also cats that live in Miriams room and her personal patio. Although they dont roam the house, it still triggered one of our former guests cat allergies, so be aware. There is no curfew in the house and you may return at any time after a night out.
We are a family of two living in this house. We love living in Old San Juan and just recently found that we love having guests in our home. It is just me and my mother living here at the moment, with our two dogs. If you stay with us you will experience one of the most authentic and luxurious accommodations in the city.
Just a friendly notice is that all communications will be done by Richard.
Richard Morris purchased this house in 2000
Great host! Very friendly and awesome room with an awesome private patio! Would definitely stay again!
t's like staying in an Old World manor house with gracious hosts. The architecture is creative and the decor tasteful. I loved the interior spaces that were open to the sky. My room had a sweet private patio filled with tropical plants. You do have to walk up a flight of stairs to get to the room, but that is not uncommon in San Juan. The bedding was very comfortable. Natural cotton sheets, plush bath linens. All appointed to make you feel at home. An added benefit of staying at this property is that it is a quieter area of the city. Having also stayed on Fortaleza where there is a lot of traffic, this house is located on a smaller street. I didn't hear any street noises - just the gentle flow of the interior waterfall. It is very close to the cathedral, La Rogativa, El Morro, and many popular bars and restaurants.
Loved our stay. Host was great. Home was geat. Beds good. Location is spot on.
The rooms were lovely--better than described--and the location could not be better for visiting Old San Juan. Delightful.
The 2nd floor room is situated in a beautiful part of Old San Juan, located in a gorgeous home. The host, Mariam, quickly showed us a map with multiple tourist favorite locations, gave a quick tour of her immaculate home, and let us get acquainted with Puerto Rico. The home is local to so many places you will want to see in Old San Juan, all within easy walking distance.
The room has a beautiful terrace with live plants and trees and a sweet patio set. Wait until you see the doors leading to the patio, I felt as if I was stepping back in time. Bathroom was spacious, great storage, and she supplies many extra items (toiletries) along with plenty of towels (and great water pressure for the shower). AC is quite adequate, along with a ceiling fan to use as needed. The bed, although listed as a queen, seemed a bit narrow to my husband and I (we have a queen size bed at home)...however he is quite tall and the length of the bed was perfect for him. Although it was a closer night's sleep than we are accustomed to, it was not a problem for us; I just wanted to mention this in case you have a problem sleeping too close to one another and are used to a regular queen sized mattress.
There are two adorable dogs in the home, along with a cat(s) you will probably never see. The small-medium sized dogs are super friendly, very well behaved, and love attention.
If we were ever in Old San Juan again for a vacation, we would definitely come back here!
