Catedral House Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleep 4

Come and enjoy the 500 year old city while staying in a spectacular private room and bathroom with a personal patio, in a beautiful recently reconstructed house in Old San Juan.

Rediscover the wonders of the colonial city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, from a gorgeous house that will make you feel as a colonial aristocrat. With its four forts, two of the oldest churches in the western hemisphere, colorful architecture and many museums, boutiques and monuments, the old city will inspire and delight you. Experience it as a local, staying in an old colonial manor!

Indulge in the variety of local as well as international cuisine in the numerous restaurants and cafes nearby. Stay up late dancing some salsa in one of the many night spots in this city with is alive night life. All while staying in a very peaceful and exclusive residential street.

This listing is for the booking of two available private rooms on the 2nd floor of this house, and NOT the entire house. There is a private bathroom in between both rooms, connecting them. The first room has a desk, closet, queen sized bed, and private patio. The private patio has several 8 foot fruit trees and ferns and is a pleasure to have a drink or smoke at any time. The second room (the one without the private patio), has a full sized bed, television, closet and two desks. The second room may only be used to sleep in if there is a reservation for more than 2 people. Just to make it clear, if you make a reservation with this listing, you are essentially booking both rooms, since they share a bathroom. For example, if you book this listing for two people, the other room will remain empty. If you're interested in using both rooms, where each person has their own room, please let me know and it will be an additional 30 dollars a night. Furthermore the current price only reflect a reservation for two people, each additional person after two people will cost 30 dollars per night. The rooms are very private and detached from other living spaces, therefore making noise is not a problem.

This property is one of the few remaining complete colonial houses In Old San Juan. The house was completely renovated to its former glory a little over 10 years ago. The house is about 4000 square feet and has 4 separate interior patios with lush vegetation. Guests can use the living and dinning rooms, as well as all the patios and kitchen. There are 16 foot ceilings with ceiling fans and air conditioners in every room on the first floor. There is limited use of the kitchen. You can use the refrigerator, microwave, plates, cups, and toaster, but no cooking. My mother and I live in the house with two cute dogs. There are also cats that live in Miriams room and her personal patio. Although they dont roam the house, it still triggered one of our former guests cat allergies, so be aware. There is no curfew in the house and you may return at any time after a night out.

The rooms were lovely--better than described--and the location could not be better for visiting Old San Juan. Delightful.

Perfect location, great host

  • 5 of 5

The 2nd floor room is situated in a beautiful part of Old San Juan, located in a gorgeous home. The host, Mariam, quickly showed us a map with multiple tourist favorite locations, gave a quick tour of her immaculate home, and let us get acquainted with Puerto Rico. The home is local to so many places you will want to see in Old San Juan, all within easy walking distance.

The room has a beautiful terrace with live plants and trees and a sweet patio set. Wait until you see the doors leading to the patio, I felt as if I was stepping back in time. Bathroom was spacious, great storage, and she supplies many extra items (toiletries) along with plenty of towels (and great water pressure for the shower). AC is quite adequate, along with a ceiling fan to use as needed. The bed, although listed as a queen, seemed a bit narrow to my husband and I (we have a queen size bed at home)...however he is quite tall and the length of the bed was perfect for him. Although it was a closer night's sleep than we are accustomed to, it was not a problem for us; I just wanted to mention this in case you have a problem sleeping too close to one another and are used to a regular queen sized mattress.

There are two adorable dogs in the home, along with a cat(s) you will probably never see. The small-medium sized dogs are super friendly, very well behaved, and love attention.

If we were ever in Old San Juan again for a vacation, we would definitely come back here!

Perfect location, hospitality and warmth

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of three including a nine year old boy and we were very pleased with our stay in mid March.

In terms of the physical property and amenities, this accommodation is exactly as advertised. Although there is lots to keep you busy in SJ, you will want to allow some time just to linger in this home.

The owners are top notch people. As soon as we were in the door our host gave us a full overview and tour of the home (it's impressive!) and had also taken the trouble to hand write notes and locations of her favorite recommended sites in SJ: attractions and restaurants. So hospitality and warmth with genuine kindness.

The location is very good. Everything we needed / wanted was within walking distance. We would have happily stayed much longer if our busy complex lives allowed.

Beautiful property, great location!

  • 5 of 5

We only stayed for 2 days, but enjoyed our time at the property. The place had everything you would need for a comfortable stay including a really nice private outdoor patio to enjoy after a long day of walking in Old San Juan. Miriam and her sister, who was in town from New York, were very helpful hosts.

Great place to stay!! Would recommend it for a couple or family

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I along with our 2 kids stayed at Miriam's for 2 nights after a cruise. The location was great...walking distance to all shops, eateries, and historical landmarks. It was a great experience feeling like a "local." The room situation was perfect for a small family. My husband and I stayed in the room with the patio and our 2 kids (9 and 4) stayed in the adjoining room. Miriam was very welcoming and helpful providing us a map and list of recommended places to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Old San Juan.
