Overview

About the property

2 BR, one down, one loft BR. WIFI, TV, DVD player, covered deck overlooks pond.

This cabin is is nestled in the countryside and has a gorgeous view, especially in the autumn months! It's far enough off the beaten path, yet close enough to the many tourist attractions that our county has to offer.

From the moment you arrive, you will admire the magnificent oak trees that surround the back yard. The rolling pastures and distant woods are very easy on the eyes.

A 3-4 person hot tub sits on the covered back deck for your enjoyment and pleasure.

This property features your very own private backyard pond, just a few steps away from the back deck of the cabin, and it is well stocked with Bluegill and Bass, so bring your fishing pole. The fishing is great at this pond.

A small loft bedroom is located on the second floor and has a full size bed. To access the second floor bedroom, there is a ladder. This ladder leading to the upstairs bedroom is not suitable for young children, the elderly, or physically impaired.

The cabin has it's original hardwood flooring in most of the rooms giving it a rustic look.

The kitchen is stocked with many amenities. It has a microwave, full size stove/oven, full size upright refrigerator, coffee pot, crock pot, toaster, small electric grill, and other goodies.

The main floor bedroom area has a queen bed with a thick memory foam mattress, a dresser, and wall heater. There is also a floor to ceiling chimney that is made from field stones found years ago right on this property. It contains a gas log, which is in operation seasonally.

The living room area has a Lazy Boy rocker recliner chair, a pull out sofa that converts into a full size bed, and a flat screen 32" television and DVD player. The television has Flexpack Dish programming, plus the local Lexington channels and ESPN for all you sports fans.

This cabin is equipped with high speed internet so you can steam movies from your device, or surf the internet.

The bathroom is a full bath, containing a tub/shower combination.

Cook some burgers or steaks on the charcoal grill for dinner.

You may want to have a campfire in the backyard fire pit. Watch the dancing flames and glowing embers while you sit under a starlit sky. Sorry, we do not supply wood for the fire pit. You can either bring your own wood, or purchase some at the local gas stations or grocery stores in London, the nearest town.

Your well behaved and housebroken pet is welcome to accompany you for an additional charge of $10.00 per day per pet. Limit two pets per stay. For your pets' safety, you must keep it leashed or tied up at all times when it is outdoors. Pets must be in a crate indoors if you are going to leave it alone. If you have plans to bring your pet, please mention this to us as you are making your reservation.

Please note that this cabin is not equipped nor suitable for large gatherings, get togethers, or family reunions. Maximum occupancy allowed at all times, including the registered overnight guests, are 10 people.

Your visit would not be complete without a trip to Cumberland Falls State Park. The park has "The Niagara of the South" waterfalls. It also has hiking trails all around. The park is about a 45 min. drive from the cabin.

Renfro Valley Music Center is only a 15 min. drive away. If you are a fan of country style music, you may want to check them out.

Other places and events that may be of interest to you include:

Wildcat Harley Davidson store is located on the north end of London, 10 miles south.

Levi Jackson Wilderness Road State Park is 15 miles south, in London.

Camp Wildcat Civil War Battle Historical Site is about 1 1/2 miles away.

The Original Colonel Sander's Cafe and Museum, Corbin, KY. Located approximately 20 miles south, eat where the Kentucky Fried Chicken began.

Speaking of food, there are many different restaurants in nearby London, KY.

This is just a short list of things you can do while you are visiting. There are many other special events going on year round in nearby London that may interest you. Just ask when you inquire and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

About Julee Skarka

My husband Pete and I are orginally from Northern Illinois. We moved down to Kentucky in 2001, and absolutely love it here. Pete had lived in Kentucky in the past when he attended MSU and fell in love at that time with the beautiful countryside.

Julee Skarka purchased this cabin in 2001

Why Julee Skarka chose East Bernstadt

We love living in the country, and when we first set eyes on this piece of property, it was love at first sight! We really do feel like we have a small piece of heaven right here. The rolling hillsides, the deep woods, and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets just confirm the fact that we made the right choice by moving to Kentucky.

What makes this cabin unique

We are very near to the Daniel Boone National Forest which gives us great wooded views all around. There are numerous trails everywhere, great for hiking, which we both love to participate in. We chose this property over all others because of it's beauty, tranquility, and seclusion.

We desire that you would feel 'at home' while you are here, and we are dedicated to give you the best service possible. It is our goal that every guest who visits comes away feeling refreshed and re-newed, and our hope is that you would desire to visit us again in the future.

Great getaway

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was beautiful and a great getaway from the city. Very easy to find just 10 min off the highway, but close to some great hiking. A very cozy set up and Julee made it all very easy!

Gorgeous area!! Super clean cabin, very quiet and peaceful. The most friendly and sweet horses were a HUGE bonus!! Loved petting them and giving them treats. The owners are just precious and are extremely helpful and very kind.

Will definitely go back again. 5 stars and then some!

Perfect getaway spot.

  • 5 of 5

Close to a variety of activities, lots to do and see no matter what you are into.

Beautiful sunrise and sunsets on the pond in the backyard. Relax on the deck or in the hot tub watching hummingbirds (which my wife loved).

Very quiet only natures sounds can be heard in the morning and evenings.

We loved it as did our dog. We’ll do it again.

You won’t be disappointed.
