This classic two story craftsman home is full of historic details and modern amenities. Downstairs includes a living room with a stone laid fire place, hard wood floors, a dining room with built in cabinets, a new kitchen with kitchen nook and half bath. Upstairs includes 3 spacious bedrooms, full bathroom and stacked laundry. The large back yard allows for plenty of room for the kids to play. There is also semi-finished basement with an extra TV and playroom.
The neighborhood is ideal. Oak street is family friendly and just two blocks from Park Street, which is filled with restaurants, cafes, a movie theater and shopping. Its also a short walk to Alameda's beaches. Finally, a direct bus line takes you in to San Francisco and the freeway entrance is directly accessible as well.
I am a Bay Area native having grown up in the South Bay. My husband and I lived in San Francisco for 10 years after getting married. Once the two kiddos arrived, we decided to move to beautiful Alameda and we couldn't be happier! Alameda is quiet, convenient, we can spread out and relax, while the city is still easily accessible. My husband is originally from Spain and we visit his family every other summer for a month - thus our desire to share our home during that time.
Rebecca Aced-Molina purchased this house in 2009
As soon as we walked into this property - my husband and I looked at each other and silently said, 'this is it!' The old world charm of the craftsman details along with the large and bright kitchen and classic lay out with the bedrooms upstairs - and I shouldn't forget a yard! (unusual in Alameda) and we knew we had found our home for many years to come. Not to mention how incredibly convenient it is to everything - downtown, beach, shopping. We love this house and are happy to share it with travelers who will enjoy its special charm as well.
The house and location was FANTASTIC! A block away was a Safeway and Trader Joes. The beach is two blocks away. Rooms are huge, the upstairs bathroom is beautifully renovated. This was a great place for us to use as home base while visiting a myriad of family in Berkeley, Oakland, and Alameda. We would usually start our mornings with coffee on the front porch, then end our day with cocktails on the front porch. We were able to have family and friends over a couple times, which was a nice change for us. Usually we are stuck in a tiny rental with no space. Rebecca was easy to communicate with and I would absolutely recommend this house to all my friends and family.
Alameda is a short ferry, bus or car ride into San Francisco - a world class destination for culture, arts and entertainment. Return to quiet living in a family friendly neighborhood where you can walk to just about anything. We love to stroll along the beach or take bike rides around the Bay, go out to eat at Scolari's - which many feel are the BEST hamburgers in the world! Over the summer, there are free concerts once a month where you can picnic alongside the beach and listen to some tunes without worrying about the kids. About a 10 minute drive you are also in downtown Oakland or Berkeley where there is a bustling arts, music and food scene. Alameda is the best of both worlds, its a quiet small town, a hop skip and a jump from city life.
