Bakersville Chalet Rental Photos and Description

Chalet, 3 Bedrooms , 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Come and relax in a completely renovated 3-bedroom, 2-bath chalet with the most breathtaking views of the Appalachians.

Located just three miles north of Downtown Bakersville, smooth well-maintained paved roads take you to our newly-surfaced gravel driveway, a safe and easy ride for any vehicle. You will not be disappointed with the amenities you’ll enjoy during your stay. This home sleeps six vacationers in comfort.

Downstairs you’ll find the “Purple Room”, a beautifully decorated large bedroom with a comfortable, king-sized bed and premium furnishings. Next door is the “Pumpkin Room”. This fun room is perfect for two little ones, but can also sleep two adults in separate twin beds. The downstairs bath features custom cabinetry, a clear glass vessel sink, and a standard bath tub.

The Master Bedroom is privately situated on the 2nd floor with its own gorgeous bathroom. Enjoy the mission-style king-sized bedroom suite with new memory foam mattress. The full, but compact spaced bathroom features a custom frameless glass shower enclosure.

Downstairs, the gourmet kitchen features custom cherry cabinets and an elegant granite countertop and backsplash. All new appliances and everything you need is available so you can cook as much or as little as you like on your vacation. The deep double sink makes cleanup easy. Please note that there is NO dishwasher available.

The living room features a mission-style desk and a comfortable leather couch and chair, the perfect place to sit and read, surf the Internet on the free high-speed Wi-Fi, or enjoy the home theater with its 42” HDTV, Blu-ray player, and Dish Network HD programming. The Bluetooth soundbar makes listening to your music a breeze.

The gas fireplace keeps things warm on winter nights and sets a romantic mood. The beautiful mission-style fireplace surround is topped by a mantle featuring the same granite found in the kitchen. On the walls you’ll find some of the owner’s photographs on canvas, many shot in the surrounding area.

The deck just off the living area features a new gas grill, and offers incredible views of the Roan Mountain range and the valley below. Enjoy the cool mornings with a cup of coffee on the deck. Evening meals outside are a treat on the massive glass dining table. Enjoy a walk through the surrounding woods with their granite outcroppings. Keep an eye out for the frequent whitetail deer and wild turkey.

Just four miles away (as the crow flies) at the top of Roan Mountain is the NC/TN state line. The Appalachian Trail runs along its summit, and several other easy trails take you to stunning scenic overlooks. An easy 30-minute walk along the Trail takes you to Round Bald, where you'll feel like you're on top of the workd as you look down over both North Carolina and Tennessee.

If you saunter over to the top of the driveway and look south (the way you face coming up the driveway), you’ll see the Black Mountains, with the tallest visible peak being Mt. Celo. 25 minutes in that direction lies the Blue Ridge Parkway, and scenic day trips to Boone, Blowing Rock, and Banner Elk. Linville Gorge is off the Parkway, and is a must-see, as is nearby Grandfather Mountain, with its twin peaks and unique zoo.

Downtown Bakersville is just three miles down the road, and has interesting galleries, shops and cafes worth a visit. Just to the south is Spruce Pine, with several nice restaurants (don't miss the Knife and Fork) in its historic downtown, and all the amenities including an Ingles Grocery and a Super Wal-Mart. An hour’s drive away is Asheville, a charming city with lots of unique shops, restaurants and live music venues in the evenings.

If it’s winter sports that you come to the mountains for, both Sugar Mountain and Wolf Laurel ski resorts are less than an hour away.

What a great Cabin!!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful cabin. Two years ago we rented a chalet in Maggie Valley and the Pumpkin Patch cabin was far superior in all aspects. The location is wonderful, Bakersville is a quaint country town with access to other towns in the area. The area does not have that crowded touristy feeling found in Maggie Valley. We explored the caverns and waterfalls near Linville. The highway in front of the cabin led us up to Carvers Gap and a day hike on the Appalachian Trail. The Biltmore Estate and great BBQ was found near Asheville. The Cabin was well furnished and very comfortable. During a rain storm the cabin was very cozy, nothing like being comfortable and warm with the sound of rain on the roof. The WiFi worked well and kept my children happy. The ample kitchen allowed us to prepare breakfast and dinner. The big screen TV and satellite TV kept us in touch with the rest of the world. The owners are very responsive to any issues. During the previously mentioned rain storm some branches came down in the yard. I made a courtesy notification, and later that day workmen arrived and cleared the yard. I loved the car port and mud room, very nice quality of life amenities. The worst part of our stay was having to leave. We will definitely return.

Stay at Pumpkin Patch Chalet

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful cottage with great views of Roan Mountain and Fork Mountain. Very nicely furnished, well-stocked kitchen with gas stove (not often found in rentals). Cozy and comfortable, with two bedrooms down and one upstairs. Nice deck, although weather didn't really permit us to use it during our short stay. Big screen TV, satellite network and entertainment system, WiFi worked great. We have rented a number of places in this area, and this is one of the best we have found. Would definitely recommend to others and expect to return ourselves!

Perfect cottage!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I just returned from a three night stay at pumpkin Patch. The house is perfect. Exceptionally clean and well decorated. Everything you could need. A well provisioned kitchen with gas cooking. Even a grill out on the deck. WiFi, nice television and cable if you want it. Very comfortable beds. We would love to go back. If you like pottery and local artists then the area around Bakersville is loaded with artist studios and shops.

exceeds expectations

  • 5 of 5

The Pumpkin Patch was a great girls getaway! Fresh mountain air...breakfast with a view...adorable details throughout the house. Well-stocked, impeccably clean, quick and polite communication with the owner & manager. Private drive, yet right off the main road to get to Spruce Pine or to Roan Mountain. Everyone kept saying throughout the weekend that we should come back to the Pumpkin Patch chalet again. If you use HomeAway a lot, you know that some rentals feel like "vacation rentals." This one feels like home. Highly recommend.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your kind words. We are very glad that you felt at home there. That's exactly what we were going for, and we feel like we are sharing our home with our guests, as opposed to simply conducting a business. All those things you mentioned are the reason we're there to begin with. We look forward to hosting you again soon.

Great Getaway Cottage

  • 5 of 5

This is the fourth year that my husband has participated in the Roan Moan cycling charity ride for the Bakersville Fire Dept. We have stayed in a different cabin each year and Pumpkin Patch was our favorite. A couple who are close friends always come with us and we had a wonderful getaway. We cooked in the kitchen which had spices, olive oil, etc. provided by owner. A very nice grill is on the deck that we loved sitting on in the evenings. The view is breathtaking and you don't need four wheel drive up a mountain. The folk art gives the cabin a real homey feel and we loved that the owner spent so much time carrying out the pumpkin theme. We thought it was adorable. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms were very clean. We had no complaints at all. We bought pottery and jewelry at an Art and Dine show in Bakersville and really enjoyed our meal at Dry County Brewing and Pizza Shop. We are looking forward to staying here again next year.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your kind post. We are beyond delighted that you enjoyed your stay, but especially so that you appreciated and enjoyed the amenities and the art. We decorated it to our taste, and with much love. Nearly all of the folk art is of local origin. It's one of the things we like most about the area. Glad you got to see that. We look forward to hosting you again soon. PPC
