We love our Jersey City house and have tried to bring out the best characteristics of it. We enjoy visiting NYC and having this place to stay on weekends. We are not here daily so we do not mind sharing our home. We hope you enjoy visiting this area and staying in this renovated house.
jesus and maria purchased this house in 2009

easy access to the train to Hoboken and NYC
walking distance to little shops, coffee shops, VIP diner and restaurants
Being from the suburbs, we weren't fully prepared for city living, so this home was a great oasis. Having a full kitchen, laundry, living space and even a small yard was like having our own home in a strange place. There were beds enough to sleep 8+ comfortably, so sharing the space with 5 adults was extremely easy. The big kitchen and dining room table was nice for hanging out after a long day of walking around NYC.
Not only was this VRBO well maintained, but the location was great. The New Jersey transit system (PATH) had a large hub about 1.5 blocks away. Both the World Trade Center and Hudson Square (Empire State Building, etc) stations in Manhattan were a quick train ride away, as well as the Hoboken area of New Jersey.
We were a family of 7 adults (parent in their 50s, 3 kids with 2 partners all between 27-21 years old) and enjoyed 11 days in New York - while our "home-base" was the old townhouse in Jersey City.
It is perfectly situated 5 minutes from the Journal Square Path station. Train rides take between 10 and 20 minutes to the WTC or 33rd street. And if somebody wants to get a perfect view of downtown Manhatten, they should get off the path train at Exchange Place. Shoppers will find their paradise in the Newport Mall with it's cinemas.
The house offers enough space for a party up to 8 people. We enjoyed our evenings either cooking our own dinner in the spacious kitchen or having a final beer or glas of wine after dinner in the city. There's a really big wooden table in the kitchen with enough chairs. The house has two renovated bath rooms and an old one that is waiting for restauration. The house is really very old, but with a lot of charme. We liked it a lot.
Our hosts, Maria and Jesus were very kind, friendly and helpful whenever we had a question. We would like to thank them very much for their outstanding hospitality.
This house was a nice home but could use some work. The back sliding door has no curtain. So basically you can see straight into kitchen. With four women that was creepy! The entrance way was packed full of stuff. It was alittle tacky. The second floor is very nice. Living room was nice and spacious! The bathroom I second floor could use some edging. There was only one TV in the whole house. Which is fine for some I guess but we like to relax with the TV at night. Third floor was all the bedrooms, very nice. Parking my car was great. Nice neighborhood. Over all it was a nice stay!
The house was nice and comfortable.
We enjoyed to reach the station to go to Manhattan in 3 minutes and 20 mn later we were near Time Square.
Everything was clean and well-maintained, even if more dishes would have been appreciated.
We will recommand this property to our friends and relatives and maybe we will come back ourselves.
The house is comfortable, and quiet, and the dedicated parking pad is a nice convenience. However, I definitely recommend a good GPS since Jersey City seems to have more one way streets than I realized.
The three full baths was very nice with six people all trying to get ready; best part the plumbing is done so no one got stuck with all cold water while getting ready! The coffee pot has a permanent filter, and the refrigerator has an ice maker which was a nice plus!
The Journal Square PATH station is on the next block over, with a 24 convenience store/deli and a Duane Reed open till midnight in the PATH plaza. One stop over on the PATH is Grove St with Stella's 24 Hour Eatery providing a nice place to stop and get a slice after some craft beers at Pint.
We will definitely keep this property in mind for any subsequent trips; much nicer, and closer to the PATH than the hotel we normally used.
We really enjoyed our week at this house in April 2016. This townhouse is in a terrific location for easy access to NYC. It is a 5 minute walk to the Journal Square PATH station. That station has two lines that end at either the WTC or 33rd street. You can make easy transfers to NYC subway system along the way. If you are going to be heading into the city multiple days, I recommend the 10 trip PATH pass. It saves having to buy a round trip ticket everyday. Having a parking space at the house included was terrific! We parked our Honda Odyssey in the spot. The price is very reasonable in comparison for our family of five (13, 9, and 7 year old boys) to stay in NYC, and we had a lot more space here! It is a townhouse built in 1880 and has been renovated. There are many stairs, so be prepared for that. It did not bother us at all, but may not be for everyone. The top floor has three bedrooms and one bathroom. The middle floor has a living space, area to make a bedroom and a bathroom. The ground level has the kitchen, dining room and bathroom. The kitchen on the ground level made getting groceries in much easier. There is not an over abundance of counter space. An island would be nice in the kitchen. The kitchen was well equipped with all of the basics you need, though. The owners were generous in their supply of paper towels, toilet paper, and garbage bags. We have rented other homes where it is really bare bones supplies. Maria was an absolute joy to work with during the process and during our stay. If we return to the area we would definitely consider staying there again.
Great location close to NYC. Great restaurants all walking distance. Butcher, baker, produce markets all short walks.
