A Classic Lakeshore Cottage Right On Lake Champlain

Bedrooms 2
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 1 - 4 nights

About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, 4 Sleeps

Leeward Cabin is a 2 bedroom, pine paneled cottage with a screened porch and a deck. It is located directly on Lake Champlain, in a quiet bay with some of the best fishing Lake Champlain has to offer. It was built in the 1940's, so it has that classic feel, with enough updating to make it a comfortable place to stay. We have several boats for you to use, as well as great walking and biking both on the property and on all the adjoining roads.

Charming cabin, spectacular views

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was as wonderful as it was two years ago on our honeymoon. The kitchen is well stocked, the sheets are soft and the duvet cozy, and the furniture comfy. The wifi was a bonus. Our 1yo little boy loved the rowboat and throwing stones into the lake, we loved the views and solitude. The location is the perfect jumping off point for Middlebury, Vergennes, Burlington, Mt Philo, Shelburne Farm and lots of breweries. We are already planning our trip next year! Thank you Suzanne!

Beautiful cabin, right on Lake Champlain, quiet and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Property just a described. Suzanne communicated well, and was very hospitable. Greeted us on arrival and showed us the cabin. Saw beautiful sunsets on the lake. Nice and quiet setting that shows just how beautiful Vermont really is.

ideal, rustic get-away

  • 5 of 5

The camp is wonderful. Situated just a few yards above Lake Champlain, with a lovely grassy, sloping yard down to the waters edge.

All the comforts of home, only more quiet, serene with a gorgeous view. The bed is comfortable, the shower hot, the sofa soft. Kitchen is well equipped, especially if your answer to dinner is, "we'll eat out tonight honey." If you want to picnic there is a good grill. If you want to get out on the lake small water crafts are available.

There is a wood stove for when it's cool and an air conditioner for when it's hot.

We loved it, we love the Long Point area. Out of the way, but close to everything from Middlebury, & Vergennes to Burlington, VT.

Why Suzanne Hinsdale chose Ferrisburg

Bayview Farm is a unique property. It was originally one of the Governors Lots in the Hampshire Grants (before Vermont was Vermont) and has remained the same Farm ever since (with one very minor boundary adjustment to repair crooked lines). It has only been owned by two Families since that time. It has been serving guests since 1890, when the roof was raised in the main house 'to take in borders'. The first cabin was also built around that time.

What this translates to now is that the place has a timeless quality, a place to vacation much like people have been doing for 100 years. It also has a stunning natural beauty that caused it to be chosen so long ago as the spot that the Governor wanted to keep for himself. As soon as you arrive here, you are immediately struck with the reasons travelers and locals have been staying at Bayview Farm for over a century.

What makes this cabin unique

Simply put, Bayview Farm is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. The Bay itself is quiet and relatively shallow, making it a bit warmer than other parts of the lake, and making for remarkable fishing, boating, and all forms of water sports.
