What makes this cabin unique

This home is a bit Rustic, but very Comfortable. A full length covered back porch overlooks the trees that showcases wintertime river views. A New gas Grill and New Gas range are easy to cook with. There is a fairly strong cell signal here and there is a 39' Hi-def TV complete with Dish-network service. Wi-FI Internet is also connected, but is on satellite service so it's suitable for email, social media, etc, but not for gaming or streaming movies due to slower speed and limited data. Some guests Bring cell serviced 'hotspot' tablet or phone and Verizon has a fairly good signal here to stream with.

We really enjoyed getting away from the normal hustle and bustle of life. Being in the woods was great.

Was here last year and loved it. Was here this year and loved it. Saw lots of wild life, enjoyed the serene setting and will likely be back next year.

Great access from Lynchburg, yet feels secluded and a lovely cabin with ample room.

We had 6 people staying in the cabin for the weekend and it was very accommodating. We loved that there were 3 bathrooms and bathrooms and a very well stocked kitchen. We really enjoyed our stay at this cozy cabin!

great little retreat

  • 5 of 5

Adorable little cabin, made for a great trip. We had four adults and two kids and plenty of room. We even go to us the fire place in April and saw snow flurries which was a treat for this GA girl. I would have to agree with the one reviewer that the matress on the bunk bed was problematic. Instead of putting the kids in the bunk bed as anticipated we had to put my parents in there so my father would not have to go up and down the stairs. He survived the matress and called it "a unique experience" but it definately was not designed for a 250 pd+ man to sleep on it.

cabin in the woods

  • 4 of 5

One of the main difficulties I find with booking cabins is truly how isolated they are from adjacent properties/roads. rest assured this one is, and the view down to the river simply draws you to want to take the trek down to the river bank. We visited at the end of March, but if it had been in the summer we would have taken full advantage of the rope swing that's there to drop into the river, then climb back up onto the platform.

Having a reasonable internet service is also advantageous.

Our own trip was to take in both Natural Bridge, and the Snowplex at Liberty University, a year-round dry ski-slope. It's handily placed to reach both, yet have fun onsite.

Parents with young kids - while the bunk beds are particularly well sized, the isn't a ladder to the top one, so younger kids might struggle with a trip to the bathroom during the night, but that's the only minor comment

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed the Cabin. Since your stay we improved the trail with rock steps down to the river (the last 100'). We also really appreciate the fact that it is located just 20-25 mins to Liberty University and the same distance Westward gets you on the Blue Ridge Parkway / access to National Forest trails, streams and recreation. Come back in the Summer and try out the Rope Swing!

Good Location for seclusion and proximity to Lynchburg

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in February while visiting my daughter that attends Liberty University. It was away from everything enough to give her a break from campus but close enough that we were able to visit and show my son and my in-laws around Liberty without "making a day of it". It was nice to be pretty secluded with woods surrounding you and the area dropping down to the river behind the cabin. My son spent a great deal of time playing on the rock outcroppings and we hiked down to the river a couple of times. I hope to return in warmer weather to enjoy the rope swing! The cabin was very nice. Everything is provided and there were plenty of towels, dishes, etc. for seven of us. We stayed during a cold snap and really enjoyed the wood burner in the living area but it was too cold and windy to convince everyone to have a campfire outside.:) The loft is open to the living area, which we discerned from the description, so you would want to keep that in mind for when you stop using the wood burner as it gets warm up there and also for consideration of who is sleeping up there vs. what the rest of your crews' schedule is for staying up to talk or watch TV and getting up in the morning. Overall we enjoyed the cabin very much and will likely stay here again if we visit the area again for a few days.

Karl was a great communicator. He was quick to respond to any inquires we had. They also had a binder with information in it that pretty much covered any questions you might have about the cabin.

This is truly a sweet getaway, Neighbors are out of sight and there is a trail down the hill to the river. it is a good hill down, but fishing options are right there on the bank for you. Monican Park is a beautiful recreational area about 3/4 mile upstream and a 4 minute drive away where you can launch a boat or canoe. Rustic Getaway. Currently there is NO internet or TV but decent cell phone service so a tablet or mobile wireless device should have service. Especially Verizon's signal is strong there.
