I grew up traveling to Van Buren and camping on the river's banks with my family. Once married, my husband and I continued the tradition of visiting the Current River annually. I always said as I was tubing down the river that 'one day' I was going to have a cabin that we could enjoy, and have for our children and grandchildren to enjoy, as well! In 2002, our dreams were fulfilled and we built our cabin nestled into the hillside right on the banks of the Current River!
Ann Hale purchased this cabin in 2002
We love everything about the Current River! Whether tubing, canoeing, boating, or just relaxing on the deck or patio, it is always the respite that we need from our busy schedules.
Tubing, canoeing, boating, wildlife viewing, swimming, fishing, touring the nearby Springs, are all activities that we enjoy
This was our 3rd year in a row at this Cabin and 4th on the Current River. We hate to leave every year. The Cabin is great, plenty of room, well equipped and nicely maintained. Highly recommended!
From smallest of things like board games to biggest the deck. This cabin has it all! You can tell as soon as you enter the property that this cabin has been carefully thought out. I really felt at home when I got there and as far as things to do, there is so much there even with the tube rentals being closed we had the time of our lives here. The tram proved to be invaluable when transporting kayaks and people to the river. The pictures really don't give the room justice they are large and comfortable. One suggestion when looking to book for the summer book early or you will not be able to rent. I would say a year in advance. As far as the owner Ann she is very helpful and answered any question we had. This will definently be a yearly vacation for my family.
My family and I spent the weekend at this beautiful home! All the "small things", furnishings, kitchen appliances, dishes, towels, washer/dryer were 1st class. Ann was extremely helpful in ensuring that our check in went smoothly. Most important, beautiful location with great views of the Current River and a short drive from incredible Ozark hiking trails! If you want to visit the Ozarks, hard to imagine a better place to stay,
The cabin as it is called is more of a Home than a cabin. It is so pretty inside and very comfortable and well furnished for 12 people. We had room to spread out. It was clean and decorated so nice. We spent Thanksgiving there and were able to prepare our meal with no problem. The kitchen was equiped with everything we needed, even an electric knife for the turkey. It rained two of the three days we were there, but there were enough games to keep everyone occupied. Hope to go back again in warm weather to enjoy the river.
This was my family's first stay at the Current River Cabin, but I doubt it will be out last. The beautiful, comfortable, and well-appointed accommodations were exactly as described on VRBO. For future guests: If it's not here, you probably don't need it. (Nice amenities included: AMPLE supply of dishes/cookware/bakeware, spices, chairs around the campfire, soap, extra pillows, box fans in every bedroom closet, board games, cards, puzzles, etc.) Very minor maintenance issues: the coffee maker in the kitchen didn't work well (though there are 2 other coffee makers in the cabin), and the ceiling fan in our lower level bedroom was not balanced (it "knocked" all night). The owners communicated with me in a timely fashion, and made themselves available for emergency communications throughout our stay (thankfully, no such communications were necessary!).
First time for our group to stay on the river as we had been driving over. The cabin is exactly as portrayed online and exceeded our expectations. Well appointed and had everything we needed for a great 3 day trip to the river. In fact now that we know what is there we can leave a few things at home next year. Ann was great to work with and we too have booked for next year. If you have a boat do not drive with it to the cabin unless you plan to back down the hill as there is no room to turn around.
