We had a wonderful, peaceful time. Mr Duesler called me to go over everything and was very nice and helpful! Favorite thing was the big screened front porch!!
We loved this cabin ,very cozy and the resort is awesome ,many things to do it and the views inside the mountains are wonderful .

I'll start with the positives. First of all I do want to say that the owner was nice and pleasant on the phone. They were nice and easy to work with. Also it's a very affordable cabin and is in a pretty wooded setting. It was also clean as far as I noticed. Now for the negatives, we arrived at night and had a very difficult time finding the cabin per the owner's verbal directions. I recommend putting the address in GPS. When we walked in we were immediately met with a distinct smell of age mixed with lack of use. The smell never seemed to go away either. I would say that most of furnishings in the cabin with the exception of the TV's date back to the 70's. Unfortunately that seemed to include both the linens and the towels. The larger bed had an egg foam topper and you could feel every indentation through the thin sheets. My mom tried to sleep on the twin next to the window but ended up on the living room couch. She said it was the hardest bed she'd ever slept on. We couldn't sleep comfortably enough to warrant staying our 2nd night and ended up heading home the next day. Some people might be fine in this "rustic" cabin, unfortunately we couldn't make it work for us.
We stayed a week in Bear Paw with our 4 year old son and had a wonderful visit. The view of the mountains and lake from areas around the community are breathtaking! We enjoyed the community pool and rented a pontoon boat from the marina to explore Hiawassee Lake. Overall, our stay couldn't have been much better. The cabin had everything we needed for a lovely week away. My only complaints would be no wifi or cell service from the cabin. We were told this before arriving but I underestimated how remote this area is. There was wifi down the mountain by the pool, but of course we were only there for a couple hours a day. I would have certainly paid a little extra for added wifi at the cabin, but overall it's a minor inconvenience. The only other "issue" was very limited hot water. Showers had to be very quick (5 minutes max) and spaced apart. All that said, for the price we paid we felt like we got a great deal on a lovely cabin and would certainly come back again.
We were looking for a "rustic" mountain get-away to go to with our 10 and 11 year old girls.
The first thing we LOVED was "no cell service". We could REALLY unplug! Verizon does work a bit. At and T does not.
Bear Paw community is beautiful! The views are stunning. The people are REALLY nice! Very safe place to be yet it feels like you are really away from it all!
The lake is SO clear and refreshing. We drove to the dam every day and the girls swam and played. They LOVED to play in the clay at the shore and gather beautiful rocks which were everywhere! So, if you like rocks, plan to be in heaven!. They also picked fresh wild blackberries. They did NOT want to leave. We grilled out there as well. My pictures are absolutely beautiful!
We also rented a boat/tube for the day at the marina. That is a MUST! It is hard to pick out a "favorite day" but that is up there! The people at the marina are SO nice! It was worth every penny!
We didn't have to drive anywhere to experience nature and beauty, except for the 1 mile drive to the dam. We picked Bear Paw because of the lake, pool and park etc.. BUT with all of nature, our kids had NO desire to go to the pool or park etc... JUST PURE PLAY TIME!
Cary's cabin is "rustic". So, if you are looking for a fancy cabin, this is not your spot. Personally, we LOVED it. We loved how warm and cozy the cabin felt. It was exactly what we were looking for. At night the girls would play outside catching lightening bugs and feeding squirrels peanuts. :) We sat on the screen porch a LOT! It was SO peaceful! I wish I had the words to describe.
Cary suggested we bring toilet paper so we did. No big deal. Everything else was there.
We also recommend bug spray. Mosquitoes and horse flies were quite active--but that is to be expected this time of year.
We HIGHLY recommend this cabin!! We wish we could have stayed longer but we moved on to explore Brevard N.C., which is pretty BUT honestly, this was BETTER!
Thank you Cary! You were GREAT to work with! Thanks for sharing your space with us! We are all grateful for our experience!
