White Oak Canyon Cottage is a cozy cottage nestled in a beautiful valley of the Blue Ridge Mountains near the Robinson River and Cedar Run. It is located adjacent to the Shenandoah National Park and is literally steps from the White Oak Canyon Hiking Trail and Cedar Run Hiking Trail lower trailheads. These trails offer some of the best waterfall hiking trails in the Shenandoah National Park. White Oak Canyon Cottage is also located about .8 miles to the Old Rag Mountain hiking trail parking lot.
This area abounds with nature and wildlife including Virginia White Tailed deer, black bears, gray squirrels, mountain trout, and many birds. White Oak Canyon Cottage is perfect for a family retreat with nature, a quiet romantic getaway, or a weekend of hiking in the Shenandoah National Park.
We're located just off Virginia's Route 231, one of America's ten most outstanding scenic byways, perfect for biking. Enjoy the hiking, wildlife, fishing for trout in a nearby stocked pond, wineries, antique shops, Luray Caverns, Monticello - Thomas Jefferson's home, Montpelier - James Madison's home, or just sit back and enjoy the scenery. And don't forget your camera!
Other Activities: Heritage Day, Blue Grass Festival, Apple Harvest Festival.
This was our second trip to the cottage. This year it had new pots and pans which was a plus since I love to cook. Also bigger and thicker bath towels were there.
The cottage is in the best location for hiking. We were able to hike White Oak Canyon Trail and upper falls trail to Limberlost Trail, along with Cedar Run Trail to Hawksbill Mountain Summit. We even got Old Rag Mountain in.
Bill was great with responding to emails quickly if we had any problems. We are definitely coming back next year.
Great location. Only a few steps to the entrance to White oak/Cedar run and a short drive to Old Rag. We were able to Hike old rag one day and White oak the next and still have time to venture to Ducard and Sharp Rock vineyards. Will be staying again next year. Thank you!
My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights to hike White Oak Canyon, Old Rag, along with other trails and to visit Luray Caverns. It is the perfect location to walk to the trails, and only a 45 min drive to Luray Caverns .
The Cottage was excellent and had everything we needed. No cell service at the cottage, but when we walked to the country store on Weakley Hollow Rd we had cell phone service ( Verizon ).
Bill was great with the reservations and let us extended our stay an extra day ( originally booked 4 nights) also our deposit was credited back the day after we left.
We had the best hiking vacation and plan on making it a yearly event at the cottage. Will definitely recommend to friends and family.
The only downfall is pets are not allowed. It would be the perfect place for my son, his friend and their Husky to stay for hiking the trails.
Thank you Bill!!!!
We loved all of the amenities and waking up to go have coffee outside at the pic-nic table with the neighbor's horses. Everything was very clean and working properly. A great week.
Great place to stay to hike Old Rag and White Oak Canyon. Very cosy and warm in cold weather. We enjoyed our stay very much. Thank you!
