Beautiful canal-view apartments, 18th-century building, 24h-local assistance
Best place to stay in Amsterdam, if you want to feel like a local.
Hello, We are Cido and Rob, the owners of two beautifully furnished apartments with heart-stirring view over the historic Prinsengracht, one of the most lively canals in the heart of Amsterdam. Since 2011, we have been welcoming guests from all over the world. They all fall in love with the place and the amazing city of Amsterdam. Many of them return; there is so much to discover here. We live in the same building and we provide 24-hours assistance to make you feel like home. We love sharing insider addresses and some of Amsterdam’s best hidden gems. So be prepared to have the quintessential experience of living like a local. We promise you will never forget your stay in Amsterdam!
We are in the heart of Amsterdam, in the residential and smart shopping area called Jordaan. Jordaan is the most popular and historic part of Amsterdam, with small cafes, bars, restaurants, boutiques, organic food and antique markets. The apartments have a spectacular view to the 17th-century Noorderkerk (North church) and many houseboats. Sunsets are breathtaking.
Everything is within walking distance:
Central Station -10min
Anne Frank’s House and Westerkerk (West church), where Rembrandt was buried - 5 min
Dam square, the 17th-century Royal Palace and Madame Tussauds, the world famous wax works museum - 8 min
Shopping: 9 straatjes/Nine Streets - the chic indie boutique district, Haarlemmerstraat, the Bijenkorf, Kalverstraat- the main shopping area in Amsterdam - 5-10 min
Museums Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum, Hermitage, Stadelijk - 20-30 min
Grocery stores Albert Heijn, Jumbo - 2min, Markt organic grocery - 5min
Across the street, on the other side of the canal:
Noordermarkt - antique and organic food market
Winkel 73, best apple pie in Amsterdam
Café ‘Papeneiland’, one of the oldest café’s in Amsterdam. Don’t forget to ask the barman to show you the entrance to the secret tunnel than was dug in the 17th century.
Parks: Westerpark 10min and Vondelpark - 20min
We have two 1 bedroom (2 rooms) apartment in an historical building ( built 1707). The flat are on the third floor. The rooms are handsomely decorated with antique and vintage furniture, with some modern and industrial touches. The living room is very bright, with two big windows overlooking the canal. Imagine sitting by the windows on a sunny afternoon, with a glass of wine, watching the passing parade of people, boats and bike (hardly any cars!). The street is not so crowded and noisy, as central Amsterdam might be, but with plenty of life.
The bedroom has a comfortable double bed and a big closet. It is quiet and spacious, just perfect to enjoy a good night’s sleep.
The apartment comes with a fully equipped open concept kitchen: fridge, oven, dishwasher, coffee and tea maker, dining wares,
We offer complimentary high speed Wi-Fi, coffee, tea, and welcoming wine.
The laundry room is located in the common area, on the main floor of the building. There is a washer and a dryer, both coin operated. The cost is E1.50 for each washer and dryer.
We are happy to arrange bicycle rental or any other tourist attractions, as you wish.
Rob can take you on a private canal cruise with our own boat. This is a must do, if you really want to experience Amsterdam’s rich history and to hear little-known stories of Amsterdam. The view is amazing especially in the evenings, when most bridges and canal houses are illuminated. Old and new side by side, you will find impossible to resist Amsterdam’s charm. The Red light district, one of the oldest and most beautiful parts of the city with its long winding narrow, cobbled streets and utterly charming 14th century architecture, the medieval canal houses witness to the Golden Age, the modern Eye Film Institute that exude playful Dutch design, to name just a few of what Amsterdam has to offer, you are about to embark on an amazing journey!

About C.Atay Hermsen
We are a couple loves traveling and always trying to rent an apartments during our trips just to feel as we are living in that country. First thing we do is trying to find a local markets ,do shopping and cooking at our new home.So when we have the second apartment in the same building we decided to give this opportunity to our guests in the best part of Amsterdam. So our guests are being also our neighbors. It became a hobby for us while I am working as a dentist and my husband works as an engineer.
C.Atay Hermsen purchased this Apartment in 2011
Why C.Atay Hermsen chose Grachtengordel-West
We live also in the same building so we decided that 2 apartment is too much for us and began to rent it to our guests since 2010
What makes this Apartment unique
This is the most popular area called Jordaan with many small cafes and restaurants.During the day it is always alive with street musicians, boats or somedays with local markets .At nights it is so peaceful and safe and you hardly hear trafic although the apartment is located centrum centrum. It is 2 minutes walking distance to Anna frank's house and 20 minutes to the museums. There are many uniek shops around and 2 parks .Train station is 10 minutes walking distance. So you dont need any public transport. The view from the apartment is delightful with boat houses and the view of Norden church. All the day you can watch passing of boats on the prinsencanal. My favourite ritual is going to saturday market just across the house to buy weekly fresh flowers and fish to cook for weekend. We are sure you will also enjoy beeing here as we are enjoying since 12 years.

Stay here! You won't regret it.
We felt immediately at home thanks to Cido and Rob. The apartment is about as comfortable as you can imagine and perfectly equipped whether you're staying in or heading out. We arrived after a long day of travel and enjoyed just relaxing the first night with a great view of the canal and then heading out for a bite to eat (so many good restaurants in the area). Cido was quick to respond to everything we asked and arranged a boat tour for us with Rob which we'll never forget. I can't remember the last time we had so much fun. As a family with younger children, it was so nice to feel at home. This place is worth every penny. We've stayed in quite a few places in Amsterdam and this is among the very best. And Cido and Rob make it even better by sharing all of their local favorites. The Noordermarkt on Saturdays is just across the street and well worth your time. Winkel has about the best cappuccino in town but again, the apartment is fully equipped so my husband made his coffee and watched the kids while I went out for some mommy time. We're very grateful to Cido and Rob for sharing their home and giving us the perfect end to a perfect vacation.
Thanks a lot for your nice words. Pleasure is on ourside. Weare very happy to know you and your family and looking forward meeting again soon.

Perfect Apartment and Host
The thought put into the design and atmosphere of this darling, centrally-located apartment is evident the moment you enter. Immaculately clean, comfortable, centrally located on the best canal in the Jordaan. The friendly owner, Cido speaks perfect English but true to her Turkish roots is the most welcoming hostess. She is available before, during and after your stay. You can tell a woman set this place up: there is not only a hair dryer, but a straightener. There are make-up removal pads as well as a solution to help you do so. There are bandaids, as well as a variety of small necessities you might have forgotten. Books galore fill a cabinet to help you plan your days or read at night if you can't sleep. The unit is pin-drop quiet as are the adjacent neighbors. I highly recommend this beautifully furnished place--it really is a Home Sweet Home away from home.
A cozy home away from home.
My wife and I have rented many apartments to vacation in over the years and we must say this was a a wonderful home away from home. I am not one who uses the word "cozy" much descriptively, but the word is appropriate here. The apartment is small, but warm, inviting, and very well appointed. You're situated right in the heart of Amsterdam, close to trollies, buses and the Central train station and away from the confusion and noise of the Dam or Central station areas.
I love to cook and we made most dinners at home during our stay. The apartment has all the things a chef needs to prepare a great home cooked meal. We bought lamb chops, sausages, great cheeses and vegetables from the Saturday market across the street in Noordmarket. I purchased great breads and pastries from a vast assortment of shops on the Browersgracht and all else at the local Albert Heijn supermarket.
My wife and I slept in the bedroom in the back. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the room was so quiet and warm, we had a hard time getting up and out the door before 10:30am. Our 12 year old daughter slept on the couch in the front room and loved to fall asleep at night to the view of the canal and the Noordekerk. Being from New York, we just could not believe how quiet it was at night and early mornings for a location in the heart of the city, it was so relaxing.
We got our Museum Kaart online, bought a three day GVB card at the trolly stop at the Westermarket near the Anne Frank Huis and we went about being locals for 7 days. Went to most of the usual museums and attractions, and took our daughter to the NEMO science museum, the Zoo (expensive), and visited the Poezenboot (free), because my daughter was missing our cat.
Cido and Rob are most helpful with everything, without being imposing. If you want their help with anything they are there to accommodate, which is a huge help for some. Yet if you are into doing it yourself, they are laid back and hands off. Bye the way Cido... the cake you gifted us at our door from Lindo Bakery is still the topic of conversation at home, so unbelievably good!
I would encourage anyone visiting Amsterdam with a small child or two small children to stay here without hesitation. I know I will be back in the future in a NY minute. If you can book Cido and Rob's... do it!
with great affection,
Kevin, Elizabeth & Kai Li
Comfortable canal view apartment
My husband and I stayed here for ten days in
February, and the apartment was a lovely warm place to come home to after a day of sightseeing and museums. The bed was comfortable and it was very quiet for sleeping. The living room view over the canal was beautiful. We cooked a few meals in the kitchen it is well equipped (except no microwave). Cido and Rob were wonderful hosts, and we enjoyed knowing that they were just downstairs. Cido even brought us fresh flowers for the apartment, which was a very special gift. The apartment has many thoughtful touches that make it comfortable, such as: there are places to store your clothes and luggage, there is nice lighting though out the apartment, and there are comfortable pillows for lounging on the sofa. We had a great stay. Thank you.
Just next to Anna Franks House, In the centrum 10 minutes walking distance to central station, just between 2 nice shopping streets . Harlemeerstraat (chosen best shopping street of 2012) and 9 streets On the most charming canal of Amsterdam , Prinsen canal. Just across the popular Noorder market.
