Great "base camp" for our first adventure to the Pacific Northwest

  • 5 of 5

Lovely little house that suited our needs perfectly! Two early birds and two night owls which appreciated sleeping and living areas on two floors. Thank you for the notebook with the instructions on how to do everything in the house - pull out bed downstairs in particular. Very nice new bed downstairs (not air bed) - thanks so much. The colors and art are whimsical and fun! Loved having coffee on the front porch! Appreciate the sky light tubes to light up the kitchen and dining areas. Very quiet neighborhood which feels completely safe at all times (with awesome parking) but close to roads for quick and easy travel to everywhere else! (Note: If navigation tells you to U-turn on McLoughlin to get to the house don't do it - exit R on Hobart or Westwood instead for easy trip to the house - we learned that the hard way on our first night with lots of honking!) Walked to post office and 3 restaurants within blocks! Love the electronic lock on the door - may get one for my house - what a great idea as everyone in the group can have access! Only negative - and such a small one - no cooler available to borrow for trips to mountain or coast to keep drinks/food cold (we were there during a very warm week). We purchased a Styrofoam one and left it there for folks to use but that is the only thing we could think of that wasn't already provided. Thanks so much for sharing your home with us! We would definitely stay again.

Quiet location and cozy house

  • 3 of 5

Our family of six stayed here from July 1st to July 4th.

PROs: Kevin is great to work with - very responsive and helpful. The house is in a very quiet neighborhood - which was a nice getaway from the busy downtown. The house had many conveniences such as washer/dryer, street parking, games/puzzles to play with the kids, towels, sheets and plenty of blankets. The arts and decor displayed within the house were unique and livened up the house.

CONs: Although the house is clean, it is a bit older so there was a musty smell in the basement. The main level bathroom had a clawfoot tub but no shower. The air conditioning didn't seem to work well so we ended up opening all windows and turning on the ceiling fan as soon as we entered the house so that it would cool off inside (which worked fine while we were there).

Whimsical & comfortable Portland retreat

  • 5 of 5

Everything at the "Green Gate" home has been considered, making our stay a relaxing and enjoyable one. Check-in, accessing the home via keyless entry, and getting acclimated to the house were all a breeze. The thorough instructions binder left no question unanswered, and the whimsical, eclectic art and style made for a truly unique and special environment in a quiet and serene neighborhood. The location is an easy walk to transit so getting around to many parts of Portland from this temporary home base was very easy. We had a great stay, zero complaints, and loved musing on the many paintings on the walls and art books on the shelves. Thanks!
