Brenda & Russ have travelled the world and incorporated art and design ideas into the development and building of this magical getaway.
email@example.com purchased this estate in 2006
We discovered this magical location while traveling by boat through the Rideau Canal system, recently declared a UNESCO Heritage Site, and also within a recognized World Biosphere.
What makes this area so unique in the world is the spectacular quality of the water, a spring fed system that sits at the top of the lock system, draining towards Kingston and Ottawa, respectively.
Privacy, rustic luxury, and exquisite South American decor, art and outstanding photography, makes this property very unique.
Mexican Saltillo tiles, an extremely unique Talavera tiled guest bathroom, extraordinary Chef Kitchen, Beautiful Spa with Endless Pool and Sauna, Music Station with drum kit, keyboard, and Karaoke, gorgeous post and beam, and one of the most spectacular views on the lake.
We were so pleased with our accommodations at Winking Rosebud retreat. We were celebrating our 50th anniversary with all our family. There was something for everyone. We had karaoke competitions between the generations.Needless to say to much laughter. The extra cottage allowed for an escape for the grandparents at night. The children loved the raft and row boat and spent hours playing at the beach. The boat house gave them a hiding place as well.We were able to eat as a group and found we were well supplied to accommodate our numbers. The tranquil setting was ideal for family time. Proximity to Ottawa and the small towns gave us our rainy day get away. All in all great memories for this family. Ann and Mike P. and family
We recently rented The Winking Rosebud Retreat for a 50th birthday celebration. We thoroughly enjoyed the open concept kitchen. Was perfect for group cooking. The accommodations were more than adequate for couples and we enjoyed the large bonfire pit and kayaks available for use. Brenda was very helpful and awesome to deal with. I would definitely recommend this property and hope to make a return trip myself some day.
Our stay at The Winking Rosebud was absolutely perfect. We had 32 people for a women's retreat and everyone loved the space. The open concept kitchen was great for group cooking, and the lake was amazing. The one thing to consider is that the loft (which sleeps about 8), is in the main house, where the kitchen is, therefore for large groups, people should be notified of sound.
The main cottage has a very eclectic and homey ambiance, but feels grand, as the architecture is beautiful with extremely high ceilings and a large stone fireplace.
I highly recommend this place, as well as Brenda and her partner as they are absolutely lovely and were extremely helpful throughout our stay.
Thank you so much, we look forward to next year!

A group of us stayed at The Winking Rosebud and were absolutely blown away with the property. Situated on a large piece of land, the property has 4 different cottages to choose from. Brenda was beyond pleasant to deal with and always was quick to respond. The main cottage ads a unique feel with it's decor and set up. Definitely renting again and highly recommend
My friends and I simply had the best experience in this humble abode. As soon as you walk in, we felt like we were in a different world, but it also felt like home. There's something comforting about this retreat; maybe its the beautiful art, the photography (taken by the owner herself), the beautiful rooms, the interior design, how well kept it is, the beautiful of the lake, or maybe it's a combination of all of them. Working with Brenda was so delightful and made the entire process a memorable experience for my boyfriend's birthday. From day one, Brenda has been nothing but kind, patient and very accommodating to the needs of not only myself but for my guests as well. Her hospitality made it easier on us in planning this entire event. She made sure that we were well taken care of and that we were happy. Brenda also her business partner Karen gave us an amazing tour and informed us and demonstrated all that we needed to know in regards to the retreat. Once we entered the cottage, everything was so well stocked and supplied, we were beyond surprised on how well the cottage was equipped. I have nothing but good things to say about Winking Rosebud Retreat. I would recommend this to everybody who wants to THE perfect cottage retreat. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts Brenda and Russ!
Stayed at the Winking Rosebud from December 31st to January 3rd 2016. First off, I want to mention that Brenda took a chance renting out to a group of 20 something year olds. Many cottages turned us away because of this fact, but Brenda welcomed us with open arms. My experience started 2 months before I arrived. From the first email, Brenda would answer within a day every time
Let me tell you that the pictures do not do this place enough justice.I simply could not believe the space of the cottage. We had a group of 26 of us and there was plenty of room. Even a table big enough to fit us all for dinner
The kitchen of my dreams. As an aspiring chef and one of the cooks for the whole group, I will tell you right now that I spent most of my time in the kitchen. I had been worried that the kitchen would not have the tools needed to prepare everything I wanted, so I packed some things from home, but that box never got unpacked from the car. The kitchen had plenty of room for 4 people to be doing separate things at once. The only thing to mention is that the thermometer on the BBQ seems to be broken, and if you wanted to keep something at a specific temperature then you had to know what you were doing. Other then that, the kitchen was stocked with spices that were provided, the fridge and freezer had enough room to fit everything we brought and still had room in it
The bedrooms were clean, comfortable spacious and very open. I stayed in the master room but know that the bedrooms work on open concept theme. There aren't any doors you can lock, with us this held no problem because we all ended up sleeping wherever we fell asleep anyways. I was shocked at the amount of responsibilities NOT asked of us. All we were told to do at the end was to put the towels in the washer. That was it. We of course took all the linens off the bed, cleaned as much as we could and all in all tried to leave the place as we found it. Again, 5 star hotel feeling
The grounds themselves, no words could describe how beautiful and spacious it is. It felt like driving into a fairy tale. I only wish we came during the summer and could experience the lake and enjoy the water. We had 7 cars, and no problem finding parking
10 minute drive from town where you could find anything you needed, grocery store, liquor store, etc
It was painful to leave such a beautiful place, I recommend it to anyone and everyone, will return. 2500 characters is not enough to give a proper review.
We stayed at the Winking Rosebud from Dec. 4-6th. Before I mention how beautiful the grounds are and the property itself, I must underline that the hospitality offered by the owners was one like no other…As a company we’ve been taking our employees to a corporate weekend getaway to celebrate the holidays every year for the last 10 years. We stay at the finest cottages, and the Winking Rosebud topped every single cottage we’ve stayed at over the past 10 years. Brenda and her husband were genuinely friendly and welcoming throughout the entire booking process and always provided quick feedback on questions we had prior to arriving. The property manager Karen welcomed us upon our arrival and gave us a wonderful tour and was available throughout our entire stay if we had any questions!!
Brenda went so far as to check up on us after our first night’s stay to make sure everything was to our likings. The property itself is unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Beautifully decorated with eclectic artifacts, you can tell that Brenda and her family are very well travelled and provide a home that guarantees a welcoming experience for anyone.
Every room is unique, the energy is very warm and welcoming, every bathroom is special, the floors are heated throughout the main lodge which is an absolute treat, the indoor pool and sauna are also a real treat, the house is very well equipped with everything you need to host a wonderful get together, there is really NOTHING they didn’t think of and the additional cottages on the property are clean and comfortably and equally well decorated!
I highly recommend staying at the Winking Rosebud for a corporate retreat, a team building activity weekend, a brainstorming session, whether you are looking to offer a relaxing weekend to your staff by the beautiful lake or gather your team to brainstorm or simply to celebrate milestones….this place is a real gem!
Fantastic meeting place between Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto. Beautiful private 80 acre nature reserve for hiking, mountain biking, skiing, snowmobiling. Close to Casino in Gananoque. Live theatre and music abound in Perth, Westport, Gananoque, Kingston, and Brockville!! A spectacular location.
