Florida Central Gulf Coast Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Historic Tarpon Springs Apartment, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, perfect couples getaway)

Cool your jets or spend your energy in our Historic Tarpon Springs. The Greek heritage is evident from the architecture, historic churches and working sponge docks. You can sit on your front porch and have a cool drink and read a good book or sit on your back porch and watch the sun go down. Head out your door and stroll thru Craig Park around the Bayou to the downtown shops and enjoy a variety of restaurant dinning, art galleries, boutique shopping and night life. Walk a bit further, and the historic Greek sponge docks await with a working river front, more boutique shopping, restaurants and bars. You can drive 5 minutes or ride your bike to the beach and watch the sun set over our beautiful gulf beaches. During the winter months take a walk around the Spring Bayou and watch the Manatees play. You can do as much or as little as you want. JUST HAVE FUN!!!!

The Pineapple House

Featuring Large 1 bedroom 1 bath furnished apartment in a turn of the century former boarding house. Built in 1900 and serving the boom town days of the domestic Greek sponging industry. With high ceilings, hardwood floors, front and rear porches (water view over the tree tops), washer and dryer (coin). Boat ramp with access to the gulf (kayaks available). Tennis (lighted at night) & Handball courts Picnic tables on the waterfront are steps away. Short walk to the Spring Bayou and its winter manatees and to Downtown Tarpon Springs. Watch for the signs for Music on the Beach, Movies in the Park, or the next festival or craft show! We especially enjoy the wine walk.

The Historic sponge docks is only 1 mile away, located on the Gulf waters and Anclote river. This was at one time the sponge capital of the world. Still today it is a thriving working waterfront for the natural sponge industry and also home to local shrimping, crabbing and fishing boats. The main area of the docks is home to many wonderful types of Greek foods , Night clubs, bakery's and shops of all kinds. There is something for everyone, bring your walking shoes.

Want to check out other cozy Main Street USA cities? Dunedin with its Scottish roots is 10 minutes away. We had a lovely relaxing stay here. This was a very well equiped and comfortable appartment. It was in a nice, quiet neighbourhood with a lovely nearby park and bayou to walk around. Also within easy walking distance of the main shops, restaurants and the tourist area around the sponge docks. Lots to see and do in and around Tarpon Springs and with a car a variety of day trips are available to you.

Cheri, the owner was very helpful with information about the area before our holiday, easy to contact and a pleasure to deal with. She has made her appartment very homely, it was beautifully clean and we even arrived to a welcome of a lovely home baked cake! How many owners take so much trouble to give you such a nice start to your holiday. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this rental.

Thank you, once again Cheri, for a great holiday.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Gina for the lovely review. We take a great deal of pride in our property and providing our guests with a comfortable home away from home and as much information to upcoming events for our area. There is always so much to do close and far. I am so glad we lived up to and beyond your expectations. The West Family

Another wonderful stay at the Pineapple House! We can't wait till we return again next year! Cheri & Chris couldn't be more welcoming and helpful with any of our needs. The apartment is so wonderfully located. You're within walking distance to everything! Having morning coffee on the front porch and walking Spring Bayou is a perfect way to start your day. AHEPA next to the 1910 Inn has great Friday night dinners to walk to and then proceed to main street after for Tarpon Springs 1st Friday Downtown Night with music and vendors. Ending your evening on the back porch with a glass of wine and watching the sunset can only be described as ultimate relaxation! The apartment is provided for all your needs from making meals (if you want to take a break from all the wonderful Greek Restaurants), relaxing in the living room curled up with a book or watching TV to taking a snooze in comfort in the bedroom. Howard Park and Sunset Park are wonderful for picnics and lazing in the sun. The Sponge Docks are so fun and the bakeries with Greek coffee are magnificent! Want more exercising Chris & Cheri provide that also with bikes and kayaks. Thanks so much for that warm Southern hospitality! See you next year.

WONDERFUL STAY, DEFINITELY GOING AGAIN

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful retreat from a very busy life. The owner of this historical building has done everything to provide what we needed, even down to the homemade Brownies. Large TV, Internet, readying material, the kitchen has everything. Very comfortable bedding and bath. The 2nd story front and back porches offer a peaceful, relaxing place to watch the world go by. Parking is easy, close The area is great for walking to park and lake close by. The many restaurants and sites of Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks are great, Greek Food was fabulos. We especially enjoyed the nearby beaches and the museums in the greater Tampa area. We will be back next year for sure.

We did enjoy it very much . It was close to downtown, and park , well located .The place was spacious , everything we needed for our stay was there , the place was clean , and quiet .The building has a lot of character , it was an old building from the early 1900... well maintained .

Merci beaucoup pour votre accueil.

Quiet, Clean and Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here over the week of Thanksgiving with our infant daughter. Ahead of our arrival Cheri had turned on the a.c. which made the unit quite comfortable for my husband to get things settled in while I nursed the baby. So thoughtful! The next day was cool enough to open the windows and enjoy the breeze. Everything was meticulously clean and linens were freshly laundered. People could be seen enjoying the park during the day and the nights were quiet. It was so relaxing. A well deserved break from our busy Atlanta life.

Totally miserable experience.

  • 1 of 5

We rented this property the week of Christmas. After several days of no acknowledgement after sending check, I emailed the owner to make sure she had receivedit. She had, but no show of reserv. After several more days, I emailed again to remind her to block it on VROB. Finally done. Time for us to depart and no check- in instructions, address, key location, etc. I began emailing and calling owner, and so did my husband. Finally, after our messages became a lttle rude we got a response. One time she hung up on my husband because she said she couldn't hear him. The morning that we were to leave, we finally heard from her.Upon arrival, Narrow, uneven, and severely sloping stairs led up to the upstairs unit. The apartment was rather smelly as is to be expected with an old building. It is for sale and in need of a lot of TLC. Lots of weeds, dry rot, filthy cooking utensils, terrible coffee pot, very uncomfortable bed, some windows do not lock. Electrical cord running out window to outside Christmas lights, from inside unit. We finally discovered the washer/dryer location away from the main building. Christmas Eve: Power goes out. After awhile The owners son arrives and replaced a burned out circuit breaker due I'm sure, to a very overloaded 15 amp circuit. Fortunately, the breaker burned out open instead of closed so we had no fire. Good news there. Soon after, the window a/c unit in the main part of the apartment went out. It's 85 degrees during the day. We never cooked the first meal there. Who wants to cook when the temp. is 85 degrees before you even turn on the oven? We were told to use the small window a/c unit in the bedroom. After taking a shower in a bathroom with no ventilation and no A/C, trying to dry your hair (which required turning off the bedroom a/c (now we're down to no a/c) so as to not overload the circuit, and put on make-up for the day was a pretty miserable experience. Internet never worked. Most of the time our attempted contacts were ignored until we left insulting messages. We were then told to quit texting them. 4 days of dealing with this, we had had enough. My husband texted and told them we would be leaving several days early. We have not heard from them since.

Save yourselves the misery and find someplace else to stay. These people are only interested in taking your money and could care less if you have a pleasant stay or not. The Chamber of Commerce was notified of our experience.

Owner's Response: We always strive to provide the best experience possible for all our guest. It is unfortunate that our last guest feel our property was not able to provide that for them. They are the first to feel this way. It remains a historic 109 year old comfortable getaway for travelers to enjoy the best that Tarpon Springs has to offer. Fantastic location just off the spring bayou close to down town and historic areas. Shopping,Dining and beaches close and inviting. Clean, open and airy with high ceilings and front and rear porch's. professionally cleaned and appointed the day before any new arrival. Their was an issue with the power. a breaker failed and was replaced on Christmas eve within 1 hour. Bright house is our internet provider and suffered equipment failure. This occurred on the same day as the power problem. They where notified immediately and scheduled us for first available to correct their issue. We also have had to deal with an AC issue also on the same day, Christmas eve. We where able to get a technician out to the building on both Christmas eve and Christmas day to deal with these issues. I thought this was pretty good response time. We have had quite a bit of in-climate weather and thunder storms. The best guess of the repair folks is that lightning strikes in the area were the cause of the problems. The main air conditioner was replaced on Dec 28th with a new high efficiency unit as it could not be repaired. I know our guest where extremely frustrated which became evident in the tone of their communications. We apologized for the problems and worked diligently to try and correct them. Over the Christmas holidays my wife and I where in Valle Crussis NC. This is a small historic area of the Appalachian mountains just outside of Banner Elk. We had little or no phone service for the time spent in our cabin but did respond quickly to our guest concerns. Again my son was onsite within the hour and our repair tech was onsite Christmas eve and Christmas day. I have read the review from our guest several times and have to say that their description of the events and conditions are simply untrue. Weather and poor phone service where the biggest problems. We would be glad to offer a 2 day stay so that they may see the best of what Tarpon Springs has to offer. We would be happy to offer a 2 day stay free of charge to allow them to enjoy the Tarpon springs experience under better circumstances.
