About Robin Sutherland

Music has always been an important part of my life and it is how I met my husband while performing in the outdoor drama, 'Stephen Foster, The Musical' in 1976. I also enjoy gardening. Another hobby of mine is genealogy. My husband Cam, is a pharmacist. He enjoys photography. Cam also is a die hard University of Kentucky fan and drives a Ford F-150 customized in UK decals and other accouterments. Cam has had 2 duty tours in Iraq and 2 stateside tours. We have 2 great sons.

Why Robin Sutherland chose Tennessee

Buying a cabin near the Smoky Mountains has always been a dream of mine. My father’s family roots are in Eastern Tennessee and I was born in Knoxville. I have traveled to many lovely locations in Western Europe, the Far East and Caribbean but my first choice of a permanent dwelling is the Smoky Mountains. As a child, going to Cades Cove every month to enjoy hiking, biking, camping, horseback riding, picnicking, or tubing was always a treat. The Smoky Mountains have always felt like a sanctuary when my spirit needs to be uplifted, renewed, and comforted or reminded of the vibrancy of nature.

What makes this cabin unique

I like the feeling of being in an uncomplicated place, surrounded by nature yet having every convenience I desire available if the need arises. Over the years my husband and I have hiked many of the day trails in the Smoky Mountains as well as stayed overnight at Mt. LeConte. Spring is my favorite season because of the wildflowers; they can be very prolific if you know the trails to take. The visitor’s center at Sugarlands in the park, can provide you with excellent material on the location of trails that are historical, have water features, and wildflowers along with the length and ease or difficulty of the trail. Being in Sevier County affords me the luxury of researching my ancestors who settled here in the late 1700’s. I can take advantage of all the attractions the area has to offer while staying in the cabin we've decorated to feel like a second home, and not a resort or hotel in the area. The cabin has a personality of its own. One of the attractions for people coming to the Smoky National Park are the black bears of the park. I've made certain that if your visit does not include an actual siting of a live bear, you'll find bears throughout the cabin in its decor. But you may get lucky as a bear with cubs, raccoon plus 4 babies and turkey have entertained guests. The cabin is accessible to all vehicles, the road is paved and the parking area for the cabin is gravel and level.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our stay was excellent from the beautiful, well maintained cabin with any and all conveniences that you could ask for. Very comfortable for all of my family (myself, wife, 4 grown children, 2 daughter-in-laws and 3 grandchildren - 5, 3 and 1 year old) - a total of 11 with plenty of space and multiple activities from pool, foozeball, etc to a large hot tub. If we would have never left the cabin, we would have been satisfied. Robin was very helpful and prompt to answer with any information we requested prior to arriving for our stay and had a very thorough binder of information upon arrival. When we return to the area, we will attempt to reserve this cabin again.

This is a great property.

Clean and roomy. There was eleven of us and we all loved it. Each of the families specially liked there own living area. The pool table and the foosball kept the kids entertained. Robin and Cam go out of their way to make their cabin special with all the extra amenities that they offer. The cabins accessibility is a plus as it is easy to get to and easy to move around town. You will not be disappointed if you choose this cabin. It is a home away from home.

Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was absolutely wonderful! Plenty of room for the 6 of us, and the extras provided kept my kids entertained while we were there. They especially loved the checkers table and hot tub. Travel to and from Pigeon Forge is quick and easy. If we are traveling in the area again, I would definitely stay here again.

The property was accurately described: a beautiful home in a beautiful setting. Everything was clean and organized. We were a large party traveling together, yet there was ample space for all. We would strongly recommend it.

Nice cabin!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for 4 nights in this cabin with 6 adults. The cabin was spacious, comfortable, with many amenities for entertainment (game tables, pool, foosball, movies, etc.), and conveniently located. All 6 of us were able to comfortably enjoy a movie in the main living area. The TV was perfect for movie viewing. The kitchen was fairly well appointed, but if you know you will need larger sized pots or more specialty utensils, it would be best to bring those (which we did). Robin is very responsive and communicates everything very well.

The only real issue was had was with the noise of the cabin. The floors are loud (so that anyone in a lower bedroom hears any walking above) and the water pipes make a lot of noise. This isn't really a problem if everyone is going to bed and getting up around the same time. The water was so loud in one of the basement bedrooms that one of our party could not sleep if someone showered, so we simply set a time when showers could be taken. Not a huge deal, but something to note.
