Thank you for sharing your home with us - It was just what we were looking for!
The property was exactly as it was portrayed...and better! The cabin was remote, clean, quiet and relaxing...just what we needed!
We enjoyed our stay and we would like to come back again in the fall when the leaves are turning. We spent our days enjoying the outdoors and the river.
We stayed in this cabin last summer with our one year old and it was a very special place! It's about 20 minutes from Escanaba so you have access to grocery stores and gas stations and it was a great location to be about 1-2 hours from places to visit. The pictures don't really do it justice, there's a lot of charm in this place and the property is quite large and beautiful! The kitchen is stocked with everything you could need, beds are a little firm but we brought memory foam overlays, living room is very comfortable complete with satellite tv/fireplace, screened in porch is spacious & cozy, two firepits outside (one near the cabin, other by the river) for lots of star gazing and the best part is the Escanaba river. The river is ankle deep most parts (bring water shoes) and we spent a lot of hot days walking up and down the river never seeing a soul as we explored. I would recommend going to this property at any time other than mid August, it was hotter in the UP than it was in the lower peninsula but we greatly appreciated the fans the owner left in cabin! If you travel with a little one, I would bring an inflatable tub, we set that up in the shower for baths. The owner Valarie is extremely helpful, the firepits were actually set up ready to light! Our time at the cabin will always be a special memory for us.
My wife and I had a wonderful three day stay at the cabin. It was clean and cozy with lots of the amenities of home...the perfect combination of remoteness and comfort! Whether exploring the area or just reading down by the river, or fishing in the river, or watching a movie in the evening, you can do as much or as little as you like. The owner, Valarie, was very helpful in making our preparations and we would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a great get-away!
This cabin has many features to make it a perfect place to get-away from the fast pace, yet still feel quite comfortable. The river quietly whispers all through the day, while you sit near the shore or wade out into it or sit in the swing or relax in the hammock. Choices of sitting near the water or near the cabin for a fire or just relaxing in the screened in porch are all ways to be outside & enjoy the woods around you. We saw less than 10 people while we stayed for the weekend.
The kitchen is stocked with staples & every dish you need for a simple meal, whether you could inside or out. There is a grill, which we did not use, but would have been perfect if there was rain.
The interior of the cabin is cozy & feels much like the temperature outdoors, so plan on being chilly in the morning & evenings, unless you start up the fireplace. We did not use the fireplace, but it looks incredible.
The extra features, such as plenty of reading material & board games means you would have plenty to do, no matter the weather. We thought the TV was nice but would have been ashamed to turn it on!
Overall, this a place where you think it might be a little like "roughing" it, but it really is cozy & comfy with full electricity, hot running water & just plain simple relaxing & playing.
The surrounding area is great for many activities, but we never wanted to leave the cabin because it was just what we needed -- peace & quiet with all kinds of beauty & exploring!
