About Annette

We bought this house as an investment and have really fallen in love with it. We live very close by and love the lake living.

Annette purchased this house in 2011

Why Annette chose South Carolina

I love living on the lake and bought this lakefront property because it was a precious house with old hardwood floors and character. It is very close to my home, restaurants ands shopping but also on a very quiet cove just around the corner from the big water. You will be 15 minutes from a large mall and 20 minutes to Riverbanks Zoo that rates in the top 5 in the country.

What makes this house unique

You will be able to enjoy your morning coffee on the dock with a view of the water or on the screened porch/deck. There is a large back yard and on a quiet street and neighborhood great for a long walk or run. Dinner on the porch is fabulous and very relaxing.

Guestbook comments from the owner

How wonderful! Thank you for the use of the "little house". It was wonderful. My Mother and I raved on your cottage. We could not have asked for a more lovely place to stay.

A good stay.

  • 4 of 5

Owner left lovely Christmas decorations for us to make the house festive. Beds were comfy, kitchen and bathroom were clean. A few cobwebs when we opened the blinds for the sun to come in, but it wasn't prime summer renting time. Overall, a good stay.

Property is very nice and very quiet.

  • 4 of 5

This house is the perfect spot for a great getaway. We stayed there due to my son's graduation from the U.S. Army BCT at Fort Jackson. It only took us about 25 minutes to get to the base from this home. The home is fully stocked with everything you need for cooking, cleaning, laundry. The house is five minutes from a Walmart and other eateries in the area. Keep in mind this house sits just off a lake so wildlife to include insects will be present. The only draw back is the lake was too far down at this time to use any water amenities if we had chosen to do so. The house was clean and well kept. I would recommend this house to others, but bring your wildlife boots with you.

Very clean, great property, updated nicely

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed our stay, the owner was great to deal with. The home was clean and updated but still had the older style and feel. I spent time sitting on the screened in porch chowing on local boiled peanuts with Dad just chillin in the shade....what a great experience! Thank you!

Wonderful weekend!

  • 5 of 5

Such a wonderful weekend visit in this cute lakeside cottage. Our son is a student at USC and it was so nice to get away from town to visit with him. Simple pleasure was to be able to cook for him as we won't get to see him again until Thanksgiving. The house was very clean, and the kitchen had everything we needed for the weekend. Was very quiet and cozy!

Cockroaches, mice and mold.

  • 1 of 5

The description and photos are the home, but unfortunately the home is in disrepair and in need of some very deep cleaning. There is a hole in the floor of one of the bedrooms that is covered with a rug. Mouse droppings all over the house, one closet was FULL of mold. And it had incredibly large cockroaches residing in it. It is obvious due to the amount of mouse droppings and dust around that the house is rarely cleaned (although a cleaning fee is charged). With a little TLC the house could be wonderful but unfortunately the homeowner isn't doing the proper upkeep, instead just collecting the rent.

After contacting the owner about my concerns she did offer me a refund which I took. I however was out well over $1000 due to a boat rental that we were not able to fully take advantage of as well as eating out for 5 people for an entire week instead of being able to cook our own food.

Owner's Response: Our sweet cottage was built in 1951 with original hardwood floors. There is a place in the master where the wood has chipped away and that is covered by a rug at the doorway. The house has been cleaned and there are bugs in and around the lake but the house is exterminated quarterly. Our house has been successfully rented through vrbo for 5 years with no compliants. So sorry your stay was not what you planned. It has been rented all summer with great reviews and great memories were made.

Peaceful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I love this house so much! I hope that I get to come back someday. It is clean and well kept on a beautiful piece of land. My mother, brother, and I stayed for a few days, and we were very comfortable here. There are other houses nearby, but it is still very quiet and cozy. You are within minutes of anything you would need - grocery stores, restaurants, etc. Love it! Thanks, Annette!

Great for fishing on Lake Murray that is 14 miles by 41 miles. Only 1 and half hour from Augusta National. 20-25 minutes from USC and downtown Columbia so it is great for a football weekend!
