A renovated Swiss Alpine chalet set in an unspoiled alpine village. The apartment is luxuriously appointed, self catering, light-filled, with a large living room, double bedroom with twin beds, sleeping loft, kitchen and bathroom, balcony, garden. Extra toilets on the landings. Our beds are 2m long. The bathroom has a bath with a shower. Free WiFi

In Summer, follow the Swiss National Hiking Trail, or enjoy hiking in and around the valley. Choose from easy to difficult trails. If you are more adventuraous rock-climbing and paragliding are available on your doorstep. The Via Ferrata is one of the most difficult rock-climbing routes in the Alps.

In Winter, explore the valley on the 80km of cross-country tracks or the 50km of walking trails. Enjoy the family alpine skiing areas above the village. You may like to try (or watch) ice-climbing at international level.

Let the clean, punctual, comfortable Swiss public transport whisk you to all the wonderful sights of Switzerland. Kandersteg has two trains per hour, regular buses and three cable-cars. Choose from a variety of special value tickets. We can advise you on the one for you.

Come home to relax in the garden with 360 degree views of the mountains and a glass of good Swiss wine.

Pack your great-grandmother's ball gown and join Kandersteg for a week in January when the village returns to the Belle Epoque era of the late 19th century. Victorian activities of all types are on offer (including formal balls) and most Kandersteg residents dress in Victorian clothing. You can rent costumes in the village.

About Pam and Bill Adams

Bill and Pam Adams are now Swiss but were born in the US and UK. They took early retirement and now rent holiday apartments in their renovated Swiss chalet. They love hiking, discussions with their guests, cooking and eating, reading, travelling.

Why Pam and Bill Adams chose Bernese Oberland

We spent many holidays in Kandersteg and when early retirement became possible we jumped at the chance. The Kanderstegers were so friendly and helpful, the air is fresh and clean and public transport is the best in the Alps. There are trains from three Swiss international airports and Milan. A Victorian Hotel came up for sale. It needed major renovation and changes in design but was completed in 6 months. We live on the ground floor and enjoy meeting with our guests. We take the labrador pup from the Senior Centre for a walk most days.

What makes this apartment unique

The area around Kandersteg is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site. The scenery is truly spectacular. The lake above the village is probably the most beautiful in the Alps.

We are a two minute walk from the shops and post office, 3 minutes from the station.

The visitor card gets you free travel on the local bus, reductions on the cable-cars and the museum, swimming pool. etc.

We are coming here for a few years now, and everytime they let us feel extremely welcome. The apartment is fully equipped. Everything you need ( and more) you can find there. If you need anything else you can always ask at Pam and Bill. Their door is always open.

The apartment is always clean. And has a very romantic view on Kandersteg and the beautiful mountains.

We love coming her and we will do so every chance we'll get!!!

Wonderful!

Wonderful is the best way to describe Adams Alpine Eden, it fits the bill in every way. Bill and Pam couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating during our stay, providing everything we needed (including a lovely starter pack on arrival which included a bottle of wine) even right down to a loan umbrella when it unexpectedly snowed, and offering to mail us a pair of shoes we inadvertently left behind! Fabulous service. The apartment was like a home away from home, very spacious and extremely comfortable, and they have clearly gone to quite some effort in the fit-out with quality equipment, appliances and furniture. Excellent wifi service, loads of cable TV channels, heaps of books and CD's to borrow (for free). Kandersteg is a beautiful little town with enough cafe's/restaurants, boutiques and supermarkets to service all our needs, and a landscape that could have come straight out of a fairy tale book. We fell in love with Kandersteg and Adams Alpine Eden.

Great apartment, Great alpine town, Wonderful Hosts!!

Our family recently stayed at Pam and Bills Alpine Eden with our 3 young children. Everything about our stay was first rate. Pam went to the effort to greet us as we arrived at the train station in Kandersteg to drive us to their place. We were made to feel right at home as Pam showed us the town. The apartment is very clean with a small kitchen, full bathroom private bedroom and a loft for the kids. There is a laundry on the property and free WIFI.

The town of Kandersteg is a great location in a quiet valley with lifts and hiking within walking distance. The train station is just a 5 minute walk from your door with restaurants across the street and grocery stores even closer.

We would definitely recommend Adams Alpine Eden due to the great location, the town of Kandersteg and especially the hosts warm and welcoming personalities.

Thanks Pam and Bill we hope to someday return.

Truly an Eden!

We have been staying at this idyllic retreat for many years and do consider it a 'home away from home'. We love Switzerland and have been to many other beautiful towns and cities but always come back to Adams Alpine Eden because of the place and the people. The apartment is definitely a home as it lacks nothing. The beds are comfortable and cozy with their Swiss duvets. The kitchen has everything one needs...more utensils than we have at home and a full complement of high-quality pots and pans. The apartments are just perfect.

But, Adams Alpine Eden is more than pretty, comfortable, well appointed apartments in a wonderful little town with lovely restaurants and a magnificent mountain setting. Pam and Bill are the most welcoming hosts we have ever found. They are incredibly knowledgeable about the town, the area and Switzerland and always willing to take the time to share information...we have had some much appreciated history lessons. Their hiking and visitor tips have given us unforgettable experiences. They have become friends who always welcome us back and allow us to feel like we truly belong.

We have shared Adams Alpine Eden with our three grown children, my brother and sister-in-law and good friends who came with us this year. All agree that the place and the people - Pam and Bill - are, indeed, very special.

Amazingly serene...

My husband and I travelled to Kandersteg at the invitation of our good friends from Minnesota. They had come here many times and stayed at Pam and Bill's lovely and serene Adams Alpine Eden. They told is we would love it and they were right. I have read many of the other reviews and agree whole heartedly. The word that comes to mind for me is 'serene'. The apartment is so quiet and so well insulated that we never had to turn the heat on while we were here during the first two weeks of October. You had all the ambiance of a small Swiss village with the convenience of a train station within a five minute walk of the apartment. One last thing that impressed my husband and I was the warmth and friendliness of Pam and Bill. Their door was always open as we would pass by going in or coming out. Even though Bill had some health issues while we were here, Pam was more than helpful and always asking us about how our day went. We even dined together one evening at her first floor home and had a great night of conversation. I would highly recommend the Adams Alpine Eden for anyone in search of the ultimate Swiss experience.

Wonderful Two Weeks

We have recently returned from staying two weeks at Adams Alpine Eden. This was our third time to stay with Pam and Bill. The apartment is very comfortable and extremely well outfitted with anything that you could possibly need. Pam and Bill are excellent hosts, so kind and friendly and always willing to help in any way. It is very close to the railroad, groceries, bakery, banks and a great cheese shop. There are so many things to do in Kandersteg and the surrounding area. We will be returning next year with our son and daughter-in-law.
