Ocean front house on one acre in rural setting very private and quiet. Great views of Saturna Island and Mount Baker. It is close to Poets Cove Resort which has a swimming pool, National Parks for hiking and access to two public beaches. Kayak launching is easy and the area is flat which makes it good for bike riding.
The house sleeps four with a queen size bed in the master bedroom and two twins in the second bedroom. There is one full bathroom with bathtub and shower and one half bath.
I have been living and spending time on Pender Island since 2003. You can do it all here, hiking, boating, kayaking, golfing and fishing.
The Owner purchased this house in 2009
What is special about this property is that it is very private, on the ocean and has a gorgeous view of Mount Baker.
This was a beautiful spot , nice views , lots of marine traffic (we unfortunately hit the only week of rain this summer ) .
House was a bit dated , but well stocked with everything we needed .
The South Island is very quiet , lots of trails , and easy to bike .
One warning , bring your supplies , and fill your tank before you come , supplies are shockingly expensive here if you forget anything .
My wife and I spent an amazing week at this property in August of 2016 and we don't hesitate to recommend it to others. Keep in mind, this is not a new home with modern furnishings to match. It's somewhat rugged but very comfortable, with all the comforts of home and a view that is second only to its privacy. When we weren't relaxing on the wrap-around deck or admiring the views from the adirondack chairs on the lawn, we spent our time exploring the Pender Islands (north and south).
I wish I could add photos of the moon rising over Mount Baker with the ocean rippling in the foreground. Perhaps the Orcas we saw off the south tip of the island would be a better choice or maybe the seals we saw relaxing on the rocks while we were kayaking in the nearby bay. In any case, you will either have to take my word for it or go see for yourself.
This was our first experience with VRBO and I am pleased to say it was a very good one. We got exactly what we hoped for; good value for our money and a relaxing week in a great setting. We booked at the last minute but the owner was very accommodating. He even went over to the island to meet us and ensure the property was clean when we checked in. We have already recommended this property to friends who asked where we stayed on Pender and although it might not be next year, we will definitely be returning to this property down the road.
This waterfront property is located in a quiet area of South Pender Island, a short drive to the stores and restaurants. The view of the ocean from the living room and master bedroom is unbelievable. We even saw whales breaching!
The house is comfortable though we spent most of our time on the deck and in the front yard. There is access to a secluded, beautiful beach within a 5 minute walk.
We truly enjoyed our first stay on Pender Island and highly recommend this property.
We loved this property! We badly needed a restful vacation & this location delivered big time. I took so many pictures of the view my phone filled up! The wraparound deck was great. Breakfast outside every morning was a highlight. Accommodations were lovely with everything you need, just bring your own food & beverages & you are set. Owners provided very detailed instructions so our stay was worry free. Pender Island is a wonderful community. The roads are cycling friendly plus there are several fantastic hikes with amazing views. Jo's Place & Sea Star Winery were among the highlights. We are counting the days until we can return. Highly recommended!
We really enjoyed our stay at Richard's. Instant slow-down from our busy city lives. The place was a bit rustic, which suited us fine, but was very comfortable and had absolutely everything we needed. The location could not be beat for a quiet and cozy getaway and the view of Mt. Baker was breathtaking. Beach access was minutes away by foot and everything else was a short drive.
Thanks very much, Richard, for all your hints and advice. They helped us make the most of our week-long getaway. Cheers!
We thoroughly enjoyed visiting Pender Island(s) and this cozy cabin in its peaceful setting certainly was a big reason. It has lush greenery, a fantastic view of Mt Baker and Saturna, not to mention each morning we awoke to the Harbour seals frolicking and slapping heir tails in what feels like your own private sheltered bay in front of the property. We also watched the various local sail boats meander past as well as large tankers move through the shipping lanes in the distance. We liked where this cabin was situated as it gave quick access to Gowland Pt for dog walks, and to Poet's Cove and Medicine Beach for restaurants, kayaking and coffee shops. The cabin itself had all the amenities needed, TV, comfortable furniture, a large master bedroom with a beautiful log bed and ensuite. The kitchen was clean, bright and very functional. There is also a great BBQ on the wraparound deck. The owner was pleasant, professional and quickly replied to any questions we had. I would be happy to stay there again in the future.
