Haven in the Rocks - Quiet, Beautiful, Private, Walk Into Park"""

Bedrooms 1
Space 760 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

A delightful gem with outdoor hot tub and spectacular views - 1 bedroom, 1 bath

Spectacular views, privacy, and quality define Rock Haven Cabin, which sits on 5 acres adjacent to Joshua Tree National Park. This eco friendly guest house has been newly renovated to create an atmosphere of exceptional comfort, beauty and serenity. In an effort to live more sustainably in the desert we have installed solar power, and a rain water catchment system for landscaping purposes.

This is a perfect place to unplug. You can soak in the private spa while stargazing, curl up with a good book on the patio with a sweeping view of the Park, or cook a gourmet meal in the fully equipped kitchen.

Rock Haven Cabin is small, but furnished with everything one would need. It is very comfortable, well appointed, and perfect for a romantic get away. In addition to the king bed in the bedroom, a sectional sofa with a pull out sleeper in the living room gives sleeping arrangements for a total of 4 guests. The cabin is ideal for two people, or a couple with children.

Luxury linens, including bathrobes and slippers are provided. There is a beautiful, simple to use, wood stove (kindling and wood provided) in the living room, in addition to baseboard heating in both rooms. A new and efficient evaporative cooling system provides comfort in the summer, and there is a gas barbecue outside. There are lounge chairs on the porch along with a wrought iron table and chairs for dining a la fresco.

The private 2-person spa is a few steps from the porch, sheltered by junipers and a large boulder formation. We only use Dead Sea and Epsom Salts in the spa tub, emptying and cleaning it after every set of guests. The water is used on the landscape.

For the adventuresome, you can hike into the park from the cabin, or if you want to explore it more fully, drive to the West Entrance, a half mile away. The park is renowned for its world class rock climbing. It also offers excellent hiking with hundreds of trails ranging from easy nature walks to strenuous mountain hikes.

You can also expect to see local wildlife right from the front porch, and our Joshua Tree night skies are famous for their extraordinary star gazing.

We live in a neighborhood with only a few full time residents in this little cove in the rocks. Because we all respect each other's space, quiet and dark night skies, no events or parties are permitted.

The local area has plenty for you to discover in addition to the beauty of the national park. The village of Joshua Tree is a short drive from the cabin, where you can check out the Park Visitor Center, explore a variety of gift shops and art galleries or hunt for treasures at local thrift stores. There are several good restaurants, a gourmet food store, two health food stores, and a Saturday Farmers' Market. Joshua Tree also has an excellent yoga studio with a full schedule of classes.

The Joshua Tree art scene is vital and eclectic with regular gallery openings and nearly 200 artists living in the area. There is an Open Studio Tour each fall, and many artists welcome visitors at other times by appointment. Live music can be heard almost any day of the week at Pappy and Harriets in Pioneertown, and Joshua Tree holds annual music festivals in the spring and fall. There are also three live theater venues with a variety of interesting offerings.

There is something very special about the peace and spaciousness of the desert, and regardless of the time of year, Rock Haven Cabin offers a wonderful opportunity to relax and unwind in comfort. Our "haven in the rocks" has been an oasis of serenity for over twelve hundred guests since 2010, and we have over a hundred five-star reviews on VRBO and other vacation rental sites.

Keywords: Located in Monument Manor, adjacent to Joshua Tree National Park. Luxurious desert cabin with spa hot tub. Eco friendly. Private peaceful setting in the rocks. Spectacular views.

About Eva Montville

I am a sculptor and had fallen in love with the rock formations in Joshua Tree years ago, always dreaming of living here, but never finding the right place. In 2004, I found what I was dreaming of -- a home nestled in the boulders, on the edge of Joshua Tree National Park.

Five years later, when our neighbors mentioned that they were selling their weekend cabin retreat, we jumped on it, as a way to share the beauty and serenity of this unique spot with family and friends. By turning Rock Haven Cabin into a one-of-a-kind vacation rental in 2010, we have been able to offer this exceptional experience to a much wider circle.

Some of the things we love about living here are: the dark, star-filled night skies; the quiet, peace and beauty; being able to see forever; the wildlife; hiking into the Park from our doorstep; and connecting with a wonderful community of people in Joshua Tree.

  • 5 of 5

This is one of our top cabin rentals, everything to do with it is well done, location, amenities, cleanliness, and to boot it is friendly to the surrounding wildlife. We spent one morning just watching the hares and the quails frolic. And it is right on the park! it is a perfect place to unwind after a long day of exploring and rockclimbing in the park,

Perfect Joshua Tree Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our ten day stay at Rock Haven was delightful. Our hosts met us at the cabin and showed us around, then left us to unwind in the peace and privacy of this special spot. We enjoyed watching the bunnies and quail over coffee in the morning, daily hikes in the park, cooking simple meals, soaking in the hot tub under the stars, listening to the coyotes gather in the evening, and reading at night with a cup of tea by the woodstove. The cabin is simple, lovingly kept, and in excellent repair. The grounds are also meticulously maintained, with the natural landscaping adding to the restful nature of the property. There are fancier options to rent, but the hospitality of our hosts, understated charm of the cabin, and proximity to the park, made this one perfect for us. We can't wait to go back.
