Spectacular views, privacy, and quality define Rock Haven Cabin, which sits on 5 acres adjacent to Joshua Tree National Park. This eco friendly guest house has been newly renovated to create an atmosphere of exceptional comfort, beauty and serenity. In an effort to live more sustainably in the desert we have installed solar power, and a rain water catchment system for landscaping purposes.
This is a perfect place to unplug. You can soak in the private spa while stargazing, curl up with a good book on the patio with a sweeping view of the Park, or cook a gourmet meal in the fully equipped kitchen.
Rock Haven Cabin is small, but furnished with everything one would need. It is very comfortable, well appointed, and perfect for a romantic get away. In addition to the king bed in the bedroom, a sectional sofa with a pull out sleeper in the living room gives sleeping arrangements for a total of 4 guests. The cabin is ideal for two people, or a couple with children.
Luxury linens, including bathrobes and slippers are provided. There is a beautiful, simple to use, wood stove (kindling and wood provided) in the living room, in addition to baseboard heating in both rooms. A new and efficient evaporative cooling system provides comfort in the summer, and there is a gas barbecue outside. There are lounge chairs on the porch along with a wrought iron table and chairs for dining a la fresco.
The private 2-person spa is a few steps from the porch, sheltered by junipers and a large boulder formation. We only use Dead Sea and Epsom Salts in the spa tub, emptying and cleaning it after every set of guests. The water is used on the landscape.
For the adventuresome, you can hike into the park from the cabin, or if you want to explore it more fully, drive to the West Entrance, a half mile away. The park is renowned for its world class rock climbing. It also offers excellent hiking with hundreds of trails ranging from easy nature walks to strenuous mountain hikes.
You can also expect to see local wildlife right from the front porch, and our Joshua Tree night skies are famous for their extraordinary star gazing.
We live in a neighborhood with only a few full time residents in this little cove in the rocks. Because we all respect each other's space, quiet and dark night skies, no events or parties are permitted.
The local area has plenty for you to discover in addition to the beauty of the national park. The village of Joshua Tree is a short drive from the cabin, where you can check out the Park Visitor Center, explore a variety of gift shops and art galleries or hunt for treasures at local thrift stores. There are several good restaurants, a gourmet food store, two health food stores, and a Saturday Farmers' Market. Joshua Tree also has an excellent yoga studio with a full schedule of classes.
The Joshua Tree art scene is vital and eclectic with regular gallery openings and nearly 200 artists living in the area. There is an Open Studio Tour each fall, and many artists welcome visitors at other times by appointment. Live music can be heard almost any day of the week at Pappy and Harriets in Pioneertown, and Joshua Tree holds annual music festivals in the spring and fall. There are also three live theater venues with a variety of interesting offerings.
There is something very special about the peace and spaciousness of the desert, and regardless of the time of year, Rock Haven Cabin offers a wonderful opportunity to relax and unwind in comfort. Our "haven in the rocks" has been an oasis of serenity for over twelve hundred guests since 2010, and we have over a hundred five-star reviews on VRBO and other vacation rental sites.
Keywords: Luxurious desert cabin with spa hot tub. Eco friendly. Private peaceful setting in the rocks. Spectacular views.
I had been coming to Joshua Tree for years, with the thought of eventually moving here. In 2004, I found what I was dreaming of -- a home nestled in the boulders, on the edge of Joshua Tree National Park.
Five years later, when our neighbors mentioned that they were selling their weekend cabin retreat, we jumped on it, as a way to share the beauty and serenity of this unique spot with family and friends. By turning Rock Haven Cabin into a one-of-a-kind vacation rental in 2010, we have been able to offer this exceptional experience to a much wider circle.
Some of the things we love about living here are: the dark, star-filled night skies; the quiet, peace and beauty; being able to see forever; the wildlife; hiking into the Park from our doorstep; and connecting with a wonderful community of people in Joshua Tree.
Eva Montville purchased this cabin in 2009
Location, location, location. It does not get better than Haven in the Rocks for easy access to Joshua Tree Park. The house was immaculate but we spent all of our time outside enjoying the stunning views, beautiful landscaped property and hot tub. We hope to return one day!
This is a well maintained, lovely property with a wonderful view of and easy access to the Park.
We enjoyed bird watching and bunny watching from the porch and stargazing from the salt water spa. While the property actually borders the Park, the western entrance for vehicular access is just up the road. The cabin itself is very clean, comfortable, and attractive with a good bed and a well equipped kitchen. I would recommend Rockhaven to anyone who wants a peaceful, nature oriented getaway.
Our time at Rock Haven Cabin was a wonderful experience! The location is perfect, with easy access to Joshua Tree NP. The owners, Eva and Kathy, are so nice and welcoming, and every detail of the cabin is thoughtfully designed; it has everything you could need and more.
The kitchen is well-stocked and we enjoyed using the grill both nights we were there. The highlight of the cabin is the hot tub - perfect for a romantic evening under the stars! The bathrobes and slippers provided were great too. Elsewhere inside, the cabin has a very comfortable bed and a clean, beautiful bathroom.
During the day, we loved sitting on the porch or inside the living room (when it was chilly outside) and looking out over the picturesque scene toward the park. The cabin sits up on a little bit of a hill and overlooks hundreds of Joshua Trees, with ample sightings of wildlife. We enjoyed watching the quail and several rabbits/hares from the porch.
Overall, I cannot think of anything that Rock Haven is lacking or anything I would have changed about our visit. You will love it just as much as we did!
Excellent location and lovely cabin.
This is a charming and comfortable little desert cabin in a seriously awesome location at the edge of joshua tree national park.
The cabin has everything: wood-burning fireplace, fully-equipped kitchen, tidy bathroom, nice linens, and a sweet 2-person hot tub. Everything is kept in perfect order, comfortably beautiful. It is tucked away on a dirt road, but easy to find with directions from the owners.
You can hike into the national park from the cabin -- easy hike to bouldering and great views.
The owners are lovely. Welcoming, thorough, and kind.
This is a special place, cared for by great people.
I have stayed here twice in the past four years and hope to visit again soon.
The previous reviews are what grabbed my attention, then during the phone conversation with Eva in response to my inquiry, the choice became clear. This was the place for us for our 3 night getaway. Our choice was reinforced every minute of our trip. Eva and Kathy greeted us as we drove in, acquainted us with a few details, and welcomed us with the feeling of having returned to our perfect spot. It's really true that you have everything you need, and its convenient 2 minute drive to the West Entrance of Joshua Tree, maximized our hiking time each day. The Rock Haven Cabin is the perfect spot to return to and we are grateful to Eva and Kathy for sharing it with us.
