Our villa is only 20 minutes for the Liberia International airport. We are located in Playa Hermosa on the Papagayo Gulf Peninsula.
The villa has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, full kitchen, a/c, internet, BBQ, TV, DVD, laundry & is fully equipped for 6 people. We have our own private plunge pool in the terrace area.
The villa is in a gated community which is shared with an all inclusive resort. We have security service 24/7, an on site shuttle service is available to guests from 6 am to 11 pm. My guests have free access to most of the the Resort amenities such as pools (one with a sloped edge entry for the little kids), health club, jacuzzi area and wet bar, organized daily activities, Gym, Spa, and tour agency.
You can walk down to the beach for a swim, or be part of the resort beach activities. We recommend you to visit the Heliconias swimming pool, in order to be advised about daily activities for all.
20 minutes to Liberia International Airport: One of the reasons we chose to purchase in this area is its close proximity to the Liberia airport. It is a short 20 minute drive over new roads. As well, the northwest part of the country has a drier heat than the rest of the country so you don't feel the humidity like some of the other areas.
Once you arrive at our gated resort, there are complimentary staffed open air vehicles that shuttle resort guests around the property, to the beach, restaurants, to the 2 large pools, (one of which has a swim up bar), the disco and sports facilities including new tennis and basketball courts.
If you really want to be pampered you can take part in the Resort's all inclusive food and beverage packages.
Things to Do Nearby: There are five National Parks within a couple of hours drive, including Lake Arenal (2 hours away), which boasts a live volcano, hot springs with world class spas. Wind surfing at Lake Arenal is also world famous.
Take a boat tour in the Palo Verde Reserve. Here you will see many exotic birds, crocodiles, and perhaps some monkeys.
Go to Guatil and see where the local pottery is made using the traditional methods.
Also nearby are deep sea fishing, first class scuba diving, sailing, four wheeling and zip lines for racing through the tree tops on a rigged line with a harness, just to mention a few.
If you have a car you can easily do these tours on your own but if you prefer you can arrange these excursions onsite at the hotel through Swiss Travel.
The Beach: Most of the beaches in Costa Rica are darker sand beaches because of the lava rock. Playa Hermosa literally means 'beautiful beach' and it truly is. It is a great family beach, normally with gentle waves with no rip tides. The waves can be great for boogy boarding but if you want to surf you need to drive about an hour south to some of the beaches down the coast. Snorkeling can be done right from the shore or you can hire a boat to take you out for a few hours. The local Playa Hermosa Association pays to have the beach cleaned several times a week so the beach is not littered.
My home is in BRitish Colimbia, Canada. I have three adults sons and 7 grandchildren. I am a retired Social Worker. I have been coming to Costa Rica since 1990. I fell in love with CR the first time we came and bought my villa on the spur of the moment. I have been blessed to be able to come to this beautiful country many many times.
Diane MacCormac purchased this villa in 1990
Costa Rica is a hot country but the Northwest are is a much drier hear so not as humid. Plus along the ocean there always seems to be a breeze which makes it much more comfortable.
Why go anywhere else when you found Paradise.
My property is located in a Resort, which is in a gated community. This provides a great deal of security along with the benefits of having access to the resort amenities.
Nothing at all needed here. We have found your place to be the best stocked unit we have ever stayed in. There are so many plates and glasses and lots of pots and pans to use. Most places we have gone to in the past seem to have just enough stuff to get you by one meal whereas your spot has lots of all that we need. Another great thing that you take care of is toilet paper, paper towels and dish soap. We have always had to supply our own in the past so this is a real luxury not having to carry big bulging packages when we go shopping.
We are looking forward to,returning to Canada but not Too much!
We have really enjoyed our stay here and have met some great people.
We have gotten to know the owners of Qioxte restaurant down near the small grocery store. Great people and NEWFIES to boot!. We have eaten there twice already and are booked in for next Friday. They have a great guitarist on Friday nights and there food is unbelievable. I'm sure you have tried it. If not, it's a must. Favourite for me is there seafood pasta. Wow!
Don't worry about the review . It will be glowing!
This villa was very comfortable. We shared this villa with another small family and had plenty of room. Beds are comfortable and we had hot water for showers and wifi worked great. Very close to the airport in Liberia and only took us about 25 minutes to get there. We spent most of our time on the balcony grilling and enjoying the pool which is shaded making the water pretty cool. We found it pretty easy to use the shuttle to get to the beach area. There is a grocery store just a few minutes away from the resort that has a pretty good selection of food and drinks. playa Hermosa is beautiful and the waves were calm enough to enjoy with kiddos. I highly recommend this villa!
Our family of 6 stayed at Diane's Villa for a short 3 nights in early December, but wished it had been longer. We arrived after 7 days of rain in other parts of Costa Rica to beautiful sunshine and warm days. The place was perfect for our family...plenty of space, very clean and we loved the patio and pool area. Our booking process was easy. Diane provided great information before our stay and responded quickly to our emails. There was also a binder in the Villa with great instructions and area information. Our kids jet skied off the beach and we did a sailing cruise which we enjoyed. We loved how quiet the beach was, and how clean the community is. We highly recommend.
This villa is in a perfect location, and is clean and comfortable. Our family of 6 enjoyed the villa's private pool, well equipped kitchen, Playa Hermosa beach, and local dining too. It was fun to also be able to join the activities and pools of the attached resort. From Playa Hermosa we were able to easily travel to other beach areas and explore the Guanacaste region. Diane, the owner, was extremely helpful with details about the property and advice for our trip. Would highly recommend this villa!
We had an excellent experience at the villa, it was well equipped, it has its own pool and we also had the opportunity to enjoy all the facilities at Villas Sol, we also received a very good attention from the local contact, Mr. Uriel, we fully recommend this villa!
We are a family with four young children (ages 6-8). We stayed in this amazing villa for a week. The home was extremely well-stocked and nicely decorated. It was clean, comfortable and roomy. The private pool and patio are perfect for hanging out on lazy afternoons. The air conditioning works wonderfully, and the beds are very comfy. The villa is in a great location with a quick walk to the beach. It's also easy to walk into town to the grocery store or restaurants. The villa grounds are hilly, but it was no problem for us to walk everywhere even with young kids. If you don't feel like walking, then they do have a convenient shuttle that takes you around to the beach, resort pools and other amenities. Diane was the best host ever. She provided details about the villa, the resort, and the surrounding communities. She also put us in touch with a tour company (Avispa's Adventures, who are also wonderful) for transportation from the airport and tours. The villa has maid service once a week, and pool service twice a week. It was a perfect getaway for our family. We looking forward to returning to Playa Hermosa again and staying in this villa!
Wow! There are no words that can describe this villa but I will try.
First on the list is the Owner, Diane. We have never met and have only contacted thru emails yet I feel like I have known her forever. From day one she has been extremely helpful and has never tired of answering emails. It is, by far, the easiest place I have ever dealt with.
Next is the Villa. The views were amazing. The villa itself is very well laid out. The open concept living room kitchen opens out to a fantastic large deck. The deck itself has a 6 person table , a couch, two great rocking chairs and a nap inducing hammock. The deck also has a great dip pool with great seating . It also has a long lap pool attached. Except for sleeping 95% of our time was spent on the deck. There is also a gas barbecue which worked perfectly and was used by us a lot.
The villa is part of a complex of villas and resort. We used all of the amenities offered from kayaking, snorkelling, pool volleyball, ping pong, bingo, dance classes, aquatic fitness classes. There are two different pools which we used every day. Fantastic snorkelling down on the beach. Lots of different fish every day. Shuttles run every twenty minutes or so to make it easier to get to the beach. You could walk to the beach but the trip home was demanding. The shuttle solves this problem. The staff of the resort were extremely friendly. We got to know a number of them very well and will miss them.
Kitchen supplies were perfect. A grocery store is located nearby - about a 15 minute walk and is open at 7:00 am, and we discovered a wonderful butcher next door to the grocery store - great burgers, sausages!
