Situated on a five acre meadow overlooking Russian Gulch Beach (accessible by hiking or 5 minutes by car), this beautiful Japanese pole house (802N) is inspired by 16th century Japanese farmhouses. It was recently built and has all modern conveniences. It is open and airy, light and soaring, a very inspiring space. It is heated with radiant floor heat, which is quiet, clean, and warming to your soul. There is also a wood burning fireplace for staying cozy on cool nights. Article in current Sonoma Magazine featuring our house:
The master suite upstairs has a wonderful King mattress, a world class view, and a soaking tub. The master/guest bedroom downstairs has a great mattress as well on its Spanish Oak king bed, and an outstanding view of the beach through the French doors. The media room-den next to the guest bedroom on the main floor has a high quality convertible queen sofa and can be used as a fourth sleeping room. The 2nd floor art studio has a wonderful queen bed. There is a comfortable camping style cot available for an extra bed if needed.
Spacious decks surround the house with plenty of space for outdoor living.
There is a hot tub with a stunning ocean view.
The water is kept clean with an ozonator so doesn't use harsh chemicals.
The property is a five acre meadow surrounded by redwood trees. This is a place to come for retreat and you will find it to be a resort quality experience.
This is a rural gated community of secluded mostly 40 acre parcels 2 miles north of Jenner, where the Russian River flows into the Pacific. It is close to wine country, river rafting, kayaking, horseback riding, many wonderful beaches, trips up and down the coast from Tomales Bay to Mendocino and it is less than 2 hours to the heart of San Francisco!

The beauty of this place is beyond words. We built this house in 2000. The building process was a labor of love and we really enjoy sharing it with people who appreciate quality craftmanship and pristine beauty.
Ilene & Don (802N) purchased this house in 2000
Jenner is a sweet little town in a spectacularly beautiful area of coastal Sonoma County. Very pristine and beautiful. There are 5600 acres of open space just outside our door, The Jenner Headlands and many beaches as well.
Pristine, quiet beauty.
This inspiringly beautiful home has soaring spaces, an indoor bridge, lots of light and is a unique, one of a kind creation.
We live outdoors as much as in with comfortable outdoor furniture, hammock, garden, decks, patio and hot tub. The large sliding doors open up to let the outdoors and the indoors become one. The chef's kitchen is completely exquisite and a joy to create great meals in. This place is truly special.
Perfect setting, great architecture, great music. We loved it here! The kitchen! The beds! The comfort!
Japanese Farmhouse #3
An impressive view
happy to have stayed, sad to go.
To you our heartfelt Thanks!
We spent a weekend at the Japanese house and despite mother nature being very moody: high winds, hail, rain we enjoyed every moment. Don and Ilene are great hosts and every single detail of the house shows the thoughtful way was built. Views are amazing and if you are looking for a very quite time, to recharge your batteries and do basically nothing or be very active in the nature, this is best location in the Jenner area (which we know very well). And Georgia is a delightful cat (and I am not a cat person).
Thank you for sharing your home with us and we will come back for sure
We stayed in this incredible home last July with our best friends, and as the year ended, I found myself still thinking about how wonderful our stay was. I also realized we never left a review, so I wanted to add one now. The setting/location/views, comfort/ambience/karma, comfort/beauty/elegance of this home is like no other. We've stayed in some beautiful homes before, but never have I found myself going back (again and again) in my mind to the feeling of peace I felt in the Japanese farmhouse. Lovingly built and decorated with care, this home provided us with such a feeling of peace and joy that my friend Vicki and I cried as we left. I know we can never replicate our experience, but if you're looking for a really special and unique location to relax, this is it. I enjoyed practicing yoga on the platform while gazing at the beautiful Pacific ocean and the gently sloping California hills. Receiving daily visits from Georgia, the cat, was special, too. Thank you for a memorable experience!
3 couples shared this home for a long weekend. We had tried to stay in this home a few years ago, but it was booked the weekend we wanted it, so we were glad it was available. All of us were so happy with our stay. The home is so beautiful and the setting magnificent. Every day the fog would move in and move out making a constantly changing view which was always beautiful. I would get up early and the sky would be clear and then the fog would start creeping in, slowly but steadily.
We did to the Bodega Head hike which is really nice, but otherwise we stayed at the house for the most part. Oysters from Hog Island and champagne every day for happy hours. We cooked some fantastic meals. The kitchen is very nice and has everything you need to prepare any meals you might choose to make.
The beds were all very comfortable and it is cool and quiet at night so perfect for a good night's sleep. We also enjoyed the hot tub with it's similarly spectacular view. We all agreed that this was the nicest home we have rented over the years and we have stayed in many.
Thank you so much for allowing us to enjoy your wonderful home.
Beautiful location & view & very unique architecture & atmosphere. As a Custom Home Builder & Interior Designer couple, We love to stay in really nice places, This was one of our favorites ever, Highly Recommended,
WOW! Great property! Owner attention to detail was second to none. Well supplied kitchen. Spectacular views. Great place to do wine tours during the day and return to tranquil and quiet setting! Open floor plan allowed us to be together as a family, but also have venues to read and breath. Stars at night were amazing. Would definitely go back. Enjoyed the doors open with gentle refreshing breeze.
We have stayed at the most lovely Japanese Farmhouse twice now- and have loved it both times. When the weather is sunny the vistas are amazing, and when it is foggy or raining the home offers peace and secure shelter. The beds, linens, kitchen supplies are all of the highest quality- and the hosts have been very kinds and responsible. We recommend this home most highly!
Near the Russian River Recreation Area, Wine Country nearby, wine tasting tours, art galleries, restaurants, horseback riding. Kayak rentals right in Jenner. Fort Ross State Historic Park nearby, an authentic historical site where the Russians once settled. Spectacular views and a fun way to spend a day on the coast. http://www.fortross.org
