Pomona Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description

4 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 10

Renovated farmhouse minutes from 50,000 acre Harriman/Bear Mountain State Parks with amazing hiking, fall foliage, and 20 lakes for swimming, fishing and boating. Property would be great for anyone that loves hiking and being outdoors or lovely old houses. (We're sorry, but we do not rent to collage age groups.)

The house has original wood floors throughout, two fireplaces (one huge), dutch doors, a renovated kitchen with many original features, and two great porches (one screened).

The backyard is large, level and has a fire pit.

RATES: For holiday weekends, we have a 3 night minimum and a premium; please see the Notes section under rates.

TO OUR WEST POINT GUESTS: We are not yet taking reservations for Graduation 2017 and will change this message when we are ready to book that far out. Cadets - sorry, we do not rent to college age groups. Please don't make reservation requests that we will have to decline; it hurts our listing placement. Thanks! GO ARMY BEAT NAVY

About Peter Cain

Donna and I love to hike and kayak and recently bought a new house even closer to great hiking in Harriman State Park.

Peter Cain purchased this farmhouse in 2003

Why Peter Cain chose New York

This house was purchased as a weekend house from New York City, because it was only an hour away but had all the charm and proximity to outdoor activities one could ask for.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The character and warmth of all the living and outdoor spaces, combined with the proximity to both New York City and great hiking and outdoor recreation make this property one-of-a-kind!

Great peaceful retreat

  • 5 of 5

We rented this wonderful old farmhouse for a friends' weekend The home was roomy and clean with great places to hang out inside and out including a screened porch. The kitchen had all the necessary cookware and utensils. Communication with the home owners was easy and stress free. We would recommend this home and would rent again from them.

An Unbelievably Beautiful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This home has maintained plenty of its historic charm, while providing all of the necessary conveniences of today. It comfortably housed the ten people we traveled with (two were children). The large porch off the back bedroom was a favorite spot for all of us. We also enjoyed relaxing in the huge, grassy yard and having dinner at the table on the side porch. The outdoor spaces were lovely, with flowers and trees all around. We used the kitchen to make breakfast and dinner, and we served meals in either of the two rooms that had dining tables. It felt like having dinner in the 1700s. Grocery stores were nearby and we found some wonderful Italian delis in town. Letchworth Village is very close and interesting to walk around (a tad spooky). There were plenty of historic places to visit a short drive away. The owners were lovely. Incredible place. We didn't want to leave.

2016 West Point Graduation

  • 5 of 5

Truly a wonderful Home!!! We rented the home for our son's West Point Graduation. We stayed for a week and had a Fantastic Time! The house became "home base" for all the family that came into town, even when they were staying somewhere else. We had dinners and grand fires in the pit every night! The kitchen was well appointed and we asked about having a blender and Peter bought us a Brand New one just so we didn't have to go without our smoothies!!! Peter was very responsive to any and all of my inquiries before, during and after our stay. I would highly recommend this home for any family vacation. Plenty of space for everyone!

Gorgeous, spacious, genuine farmhouse, quaint, clean

  • 5 of 5

Spent the holidays with family here. We had an amazing time. The kids enjoyed the quaint farmhouse and spacious grounds. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable and linen beautiful and comfortable. The house was set up in a family friendly fashion. It was situated in a nice neighborhood with a nice park just a few houses down the road. Peter was very responsive and gracious throughout the rental process. The house has a nice ambiance and provided us with a great stay and wonderful memories! Highly recommend!

A House with Lots of Character

  • 5 of 5

Loved our stay! Loved the character of the house! It was the perfect house to call home, even if only for a visit. It's pretty convenient to NYC, close to the parkway, but far enough to enjoy quiet family time. The owner was always available for any questions, and very accommodating. And the house comes equipped with pretty much everything you need in the kitchen. Highly recommend staying here, and plan on visiting this lovely house again!

Homeaway indeed!

  • 5 of 5

We've hosted Christmas at our home for years and years and, for various reasons, our whole group couldn't come to our remote colonial farmhouse this year. Well didn't we just find a perfectly homey colonial farmhouse to fit the bill and save the day! The location was just right and it made a memorable change from the norm. The immaculate house has beautiful hardwood floors throughout and lots of interesting nooks and spaces to spread out, including a lovely terrace with lots of seating and a fire pit. Having crazy warm weather this past Christmas made those outdoor spaces especially welcoming. Inside, the crackling fire and holiday decorations made things feel as homey and festive as ever, not to mention a piano that cousins young and old could try their hand at setting the holiday mood!

Thank you Peter and Donna, for your warm welcome, personal touches and comfortable home away from home!
