Welcome to Reykjavík!

This nice apartment is centrally located and the whole apt. is completely for the guests whereas the owner lives in another part of Reykjvík. All Travel agencies and airport bus will pick up and drop out in front of the house. In the next house is the cheapest SuperMarket (Bónus) in Iceland and few meter away from the apt. is a lovely bakery, where you can sit down from 8 AM in the morning and eat newly baked goods with coffey or tea. It is only 500 meter to the Hlemmur Central Station and Laugvegur the main shopping street. It is fair to say that it is close to everything like Laugardalur and City Center. Laugardalur is one of three valley´s of Reykjavik and it hosts the National Stadium and the biggest hot water out- and indoor swimming pools and an huge spa, in Iceland. It has everything you will need to make your stay in Reykjvík the best! Otherwise, more information on our many swimming pools see "sundlaug.is".

The apartment is on the first floor (ground floor) and has two private entrances, north and south, is a spacious (80 m2) warm and comfortable newly refurbished and it is with everything you will need such as.... It is accomplished with mostly new beds, equipment and furniture including free wireless high speed Internet connection through fiber optic cable and a brand new 46 inch Philips Smart TV (Smart TV = the TV connects to the Internet and can work as an computer) and satellite. All beds are fitted with comfy mattresses, down and feather quilt/pillows and soft linens.

The bedroom is a good size and has a new queen size bed (160 x 203 cm) for two with mattresses from approved company (Dorma). The bedroom has extra mattress if needed. It has a large open closet for your clothes and all things you would like to store. The bedroom has darkening shades and beautiful curtains.

The living room is bright big open area with dining table for up to 10 people and 6 comfortable chairs, a big sofa which can be used as good one person bed and two chairs, new 46 inch Philips Smart TV. There are two beds of size 120 x 200 cm each and extra bed of 90x200 cm. In the living room up to four people can comfortably sleep. The living room has darkening shades and translucent curtains. From the living room is accessed through the south entrance to a private terrace.

The kitchen is fully equipped with refrigerator with cooler and freezer, an oven and a stove, instant coffee maker among other things. It has a table with four seats. There is also a new washing machine.

The bathroom which is all newly tiled and equipped has a new sink, toilet and a nice shower with a good stream. It has clean and white two meters high tiles and an window.

The lobby is a plain entrance room from the north side of the house with some hanger and shelves.

If there are any requests on getting extra sleeping beds or mattresses or something else, we would gladly like to help with that if we can. Don't be afraid to ask us :)

Guest Access

From the Keflavík airport you take the airport bus (two companies). These buses frequently leave the airport and will drop out in front of the building.

There is a free parking on the other side of the street so if you rent a car, you always have a parking next to the apt.

The apartment includes: free wireless internet, flat 46' Smart TV, kitchenware, electric stove, refrigerator, freezer, oven, microwave, blender, toaster, electric kettle, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, washing machine and fresh towels.

Interaction with Guests

There will always be someone to greet you and to hand over the apartment. Our office is close by and it is open from eight in the morning to eleven in the evening, seven days per week.

The Neighborhood

This apartment is made for people who prefer to walk where it is located in Mid Reykjavík but on the other hand if you need public transportation then Hlemmur Central Station is 500 meters away and the cheapest Supermarket in the next house.

Walking 500 meters in west you hit Hlemmur Central Station and from there is Laugvegur, the main shopping, bars and restaurant street in Reykjvík with all its mysterious side streets. Three blocks from CS is Sundhöllin, our old swimming pool or 900 meters from the house.

Walking 800 meters in the north from the apt. you arrive at the north coastline of Reykjvík where you have a footpath by the see and a beautiful view to Harpa Concert Hall, over the islands and the harbors.

Walking 1500 meters to east from the apt. you arrive at Laugardalur with its National Stadium and Laugardalslaug, the biggest Icelandic swimming pool and spa.

In South, 300 meters from the apt. is one of Reykjavík most beautiful church, Háteigskirkja and further 180 meters to the south you find Klambratún, a beautiful park which hosts Kjarvalsstaðir Reykjavík art museum and still further south is Perlan, a spinning restaurant with overview over the hole city.

Getting around

Hlemmur CS is 500 meter from the apt. . From there is our main restaurant street,Laugavegur and centrum of Reykjavik.

Great Place!

This apartment slept our family of 6 just great. It was easy to find and parking was readily available. The location was great, only a few blocks to downtown. There is a bakery, ice cream shop and two grocery stores nearby. Oh, how we loved the bakery! The owner was always available. We communicated through email before our arrival and via text after we landed. He was waiting for us at the apartment and went through everything we needed to know, except how the washer worked. Ha! I eventually figured it out. The wifi was awesome, our teenager especially loved it. We highly recommend this apartment to everybody. We loved Iceland and will stay here when we come back!

Very comfortable and well equipped property

Well located, 10 mins walk from downtown Reykjavik. Excellent WiFi service. Very clean , very comfortable and well-equipped property. Next door to regular bus and tour operator pick-up / drop-off point. One supermarket next door and another (less expensive) 5 mins walk away. Bakery within 5 mins walk . Excellent communication and information provided by the owner. I would recommend this property to family and friends (although the two room layout of one double bedroom and a large open-plan sitting room with 3 full sized single beds and kitchen area, plus bathroom , may not suit everyone but did for our group of 5 adults. )

There are better places, but this was clean, close enough, and opened for us on time.

I would give it 3 stars, but I took away a star because it does not look like the photos and the large closet is actually filled with towels and sheets not to be touched.

This property was clean but not as close to the main area as lead to believe. Although there are 3 beds, the 2 single beds are in a corner of the living space. It didn't seem quite as advertised, since the bakery was a couple blocks away. There was a lot of graffiti in the area, and it wasn't as close to the church as I expected- it was a pretty good walk. However, there was a wonderful coffee store, Reykjavik Roasters, 2 blocks away and on the way downtown. There was some coffee, shampoo, toothpaste (in a large used tube) available. No dishwasher- a small washing machine in it's place.

The bathroom was decent.The white furniture was covered with blankets- I'm not sure if that was to protect them or hide dirt- but they were comfortable enough. There was a big TV and good reception. The decorations were odd - 3 large photos of a confused-looking toddler with a messy face, and a close-up face of an older woman, and canvasses obviously painted by a toddler who was given colors that didn't look good together and were nailed directly to the wall in strange places as if positioned to hide holes in the wall.

The host met us on time but was clearly in a hurry to leave. He knew nothing of restaurants in the area and gave us wrong information about the one tour he seemed to know anything about.

I feel like it should have been less expensive for the quality, but it served its purpose. Book earlier than 3 months ahead; find a better place for your money.

Owner's Response: This apt. was all recently refurbished and painted. The apt. is always delivered clean and nice. That is the reason for the sofa and chair in the living room have clean and newly washed cover blankets. The location is one of the best for travelers in Reykjavík, whether they are on foot, bike or with a car. You are in the heart of the city in the midst of the hotel area with short walking distances to down town and other places. There is a supermarket in the next house and bakery/conditorei 300 meters away. There is no wardrobe in the apt. but in the bedroom is open clothing system from Ikea where guest can hang their clothes or put them on a shelf or a basket connected to the wall system. This is done so guests don´t forget their clothes (see picture). The picture and the text with the apt. show and explain exactly the layout of the apt. People can always argued about the colours, beauty and location of paintings and pictures.

Pretty good!

*The owner manager is very nice. He was friendly and helpful.

*Fantastic internet service

* We actually used the kitchen pretty extensively. Missing some silverware options (knives, forks and spoons were present but pretty rudimentary) and missing a wire whisk ( to make sauce.) At some point, it might be a good idea to update the kitchen faucet. The set-up is servicable in the kitchen but not the greatest.

*We liked staying here. The midnight sun freaked out my husband and kids and they had trouble sleeping due to sun streaming through the blinds.

* Should you stay here? YES, you should. The place is clean, nice and well situated in the city. Thanks so much for the hospitality!

Clean, quiet, comfortable apartment

We enjoyed this apartment. You are walking distance to downtown, although in the cold it can feel like a long walk! Room-darkening blinds don't really get the bedroom totally dark in the summer. The owner needs to leave written instructions for using the tv. The kitchen is well- stocked and spacious.

Close to the heart of downtown

Great Apartment !!! Grocery store next door and 3 mins form a bakery and ice cream shop. Beds are comfortable and kitchen is fully adequate. The best part is you are a mere minutes from the main street in Reykjavik and all the attractions. It is a nice base to start off any day in Reykjavik and all your adventures. Was meet at check in and showed how to use everything. The internet is strong as well. Overall very pleased with this choice for my 3 days in the city.
