We rented the house for the entire month of July 2014, and we had such an amazing experience. The house itself is beautiful and in perfect condition, exactly as represented in the photos. The location on the lake is also ideal, and you can swim and kayak right from the dock, without too much boat traffic. There's additionally a nice sandy area which is great for small children to play in by the water. Lastly, the owner, Gail, goes above and beyond to really make sure you have everything you need. We had a number of minor issues in our first week, having to do with the grill and internet, and she responded immediately and resolved the problems right away without any inconvenience to us. (On the grill, she bought an entirely new grill!) Overall, we would highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful lake escape.
This is a beautiful home with one of the loveliest lake views I have seem. The house itself is spacious, clean and well maintained. The owner is accessible and eager to help (although we had no problems during our stay). The only aspect of this rental that is not perfect is the parking. Since the property is on a severe slope, parking in the driveway is not recommended. A convenient spot is provided across the road but even this on a slope. It makes loading and unloading the vehicle tricky. Otherwise, you couldn't find a nicer place.
We chose to rent this house because we live in NYC and it was a little more than an hour drive, door-to-door. The house was clean and well-equipped. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms and kitchens seemed to be new. We immediately fell in love with the incredible view of the lake that took us away from the stress of city life. The photos can't fully capture the beauty and serenity of this spot. We spent time swimming, hiking in the woods, kayaking, and taking some day trips to Beacon and Cold Spring. We would do it again in a heartbeat. The property owner was very helpful and kind and allowed us to install gates on the stairs for our toddler. Highly recommended!
