A STUNNING NATURAL BEAUTY

The River Stone Lodge is idyllic across all seasons: from long, mild summer days (you don't need A/C here, but we have it just in case!) to crisp, technicolor autumn. And you don't need tire chains to get to us in the winter...we're located just off the road with plenty of parking.

Nature surrounds you on all sides of our 7-acre property. On a summer night, throw open the lodge windows and listen to nature's surround sound: Vermont peepers and the frogs in our small cattail pond. (For a different soundtrack, we have REAL surround sound, too!) Wonderful Pergola with fun backyard to enjoy!

Bring your kayak or canoe to enjoy some sport in the the lakes: Or perhaps take a dip in the swimming holes, or read a good book while you sun yourself using one the camp chairs provided put right in the water! while listening to burbling sounds of the river!

Nature always surprises us here: from newborn fawns right outside, to lunar moths lighting on the window, to the occasional bear and moose sighting!

Big windows keep the wooded and mountain views close, On a chilly winter day cozy up on the soft leather couches in the Great Room. Enjoy a fire in the fireplace, find your favorite show on Netflix (we have a smart TV in this room, plus 2 more)

You'll want to come back 4 times a year just to see how our setting shifts with the seasons!

THE GAME ROOM

Think of your favorite local bar, shrink it a little, and imagine having it all to yourself! Our downstairs game room has a bar and a pub table, a pool table, a popcorn machine, a poker table and Foosball table. You can spend hours down here- trust us.

SLEEPING SPACES

Claim the master suite, with it's cathedral ceilings and four-poster king-sized bed wrapped in luxurious linens. Roll out of bed and into the perfect "good morning": the double headed shower in the en-suite bath, with spa tub.

Or head for the very top of the lodge to the lofts-a place we call the "Tree Tops" because you're literally right among them. There's a daybed up here, as well as a full bed under the sky light for star gazing, and a "secret Room" with giant sized foof bag for escaping with a good book. In fact, the lodge is full of hidden nooks and crannies.

Other beds across 5 bedrooms include 4 queens, 1 full, 2 twins and a toddler bed . and sleeping cots for extra single guests which are comfortable. (in fact, we have a small toddler/playroom!) , as well as a portable crib for our littlest guests. When at full capacity great for extended families.

KITCHEN, DINNING AND LIVING

The kitchen is fully equipped for making memorable meals, and serving them at 2 dining tables. Aside from the GREAT ROOM, there are several other seating areas for watching nature, reading or spending time together.

About Kris Or Jane

I own another wonderful log cabin just 25 miles north of this gorgeous place! We have been renting it for 13 years. We have many requests every year for a larger rental for larger families and this is it! Join us at our Lodge! Where nature is 'everywhere'

Kris Or Jane purchased this lodge in 2014

Why Kris Or Jane chose Vermont

I have ALWAYS LOVED this part of Vermont! Just gorgeous! And when this opportunity came up to actually be able to buy a place here we were thrilled! With the river just across the road and being near the lake and skiing it was a perfect fit for our large extended family! and the beauty of the area plus the Mossalamoo recreational are right there and being so close to Middlebury also made it a perfect fit. It is a fun place! which was what we were looking for, we have 5 kids and 10 grand children and we wanted a vacation home that we could bring each family to, close to the river and skiing in the winter. This was a perfect for us and we thought many other families might enoy it to.

What makes this lodge unique

When I first drove up my mouth dropped open! It was LOVE at first sight and I had not even entered the house yet! For years I had taken this scenic Route and always thought what a beautiful part of Vermont it was. BUT upon entering this home my heart started to race! all the gorgeous details and Fun the builder had poured into this home. The wonderful surprises! like the stone work inside that drops two floors into the livingroom! and the SECRET ROOM! just to start! It was like walking into my dream fun vacation home! yet a it is warm inviting and HAPPY. All the windows and light, And just the FEEL made me say YES! And the AREA so beautiful! We feel blessed!

Amazing mountain escape!

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of staying at the lodge over a long weekend in October, with three other families (5 kids total). Wow! What an amazing home, in a breathtaking setting. The home is very large and modern, yet cozy at the same time. Plenty of room inside and out for the kids to run around and play. The kids particularly enjoyed the game room downstairs, while the adults enjoyed the hot tub. We all enjoyed searching for the hidden room (which we found, and the kids got a real kick out of). The house is fully stocked with games, towels and linens, and pots and pans - we really didn't need to bring a thing other than food. The lodge is conveniently located to hiking, wineries, breweries, etc. Kris (the owner) is great and always very responsive to questions. Needless to say, we did not want to leave, and look forward to staying here again!

Beautiful property.

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable, lots of room to spread out with numerous sleeping and lounging options. The house was clean, the kitchen was well equipped, the bedding was luxurious with extra pillows and blankets. Bathrooms were clean and large, offering a variety of bathing options from handicap shower to large jacuzzi tub. Twelve of us stayed in the house easily, with room to spare.

The only comments for improvement...

The master suite lacks privacy due to loft above and bedroom attached (only access to one of the queen bedrooms is through the master). It was not a problem for us as we were all family, but some groups might not be comfortable with the arrangement.

All the beds were king or queen, very comfortable with extra high mattresses. The height of the bed was a problem for my 90 year old mother and we had to move her to one of the twin beds in an open area of extra bedding. Again, not a problem for us, but not ideal for short, elderly or handicapped people.

We would definitely stay at this property again!

Great family place

  • 5 of 5

I was "wowed" as I walked thru the house for the first time. The decor, the sizes of the rooms, the quality of the furnishings and linen were all fantastic. Our large family fit comfortably for a reunion and the Stone River Lodge will be a part of the great memories we have from our time together. Kris and Jane were very responsive and helpful for any questions or concerns. Thanks.

BEAUTIFUL HOME!

  • 5 of 5

What a great experience we had as a family. This home is beautiful and so much room. There were 8 adults and four grandchildren ages 3-6 and what fun we had. I can't tell you how great it was to have so much space. The game room was spectacular and the granddaughters loved being in their Disney dresses dancing and acting out on "the stage". The popcorn maker was perfect! After they went to sleep, card games and relax time in the game room was a great retreat for the adults.

The hidden room was fun to find and definitely used for quiet time. :)

The beds were ALL so comfy! The hot tub was a plus and we just thoroughly enjoyed our down time in the home. The Robert Frost trail had a small pond that we all skated on. So much fun!

Whatever you expect from this home - double it - WHAT A FANTASTIC PLACE ! We will be back!
