Located in a Lake Michigan community known as Glenn Shores, you'll enjoy all the best nature has to offer. You can take a leisurely stroll to the association steps where you'll find access to miles of Lake Michigan beach. You also have the option of a second association access point where you can drive right down to the beach with all your picnic supplies to enjoy a day at the beach. Spend the day relaxing along the shore while listening to the crashing waves and squishing your toes in the sand. Splash in the clear waters of Lake Michigan, search for sea glass, or, in the evenings, take in all the beauty of a Michigan sunset. This area of the coast is truly something special.

This room offers 2 story ceilings and dual sliders onto a spacious deck. The kitchen was recently upgraded with stainless steel appliances. Another feature of the main room is a wood burning fireplace.

On the main level, you’ll find 2 bedrooms, one with a full bed, and the other with a queen bed. The master bedroom suite located on the second floor has a king bed and full bathroom.

One of the favorite features of the cottage is the huge deck. It’s a great place to enjoy a relaxing morning coffee while listening to the sound a nature. Entertain the entire family and enjoy lunch or dinner on the deck. It’s not uncommon to catch a glimpse of some wildlife... deer, birds, squirrels and more will all be part of the relaxing atmosphere.

The property features a wonderful fire pit area where you can enjoy your evenings roasting hot dogs or marshmallows over the open flames.

This is truly an amazing area to enjoy a relaxing escape from the business of everyday life.

About Rod

I grew up in West Michigan and spend the majority of my life in the area. I am a business owner and I spend my time traveling between my homes in Michigan and Florida.

Rod purchased this cottage in 1999

Why Rod chose South Haven

I've always enjoyed the beaches along Lake Michigan. When I decided to purchase a summer home I spend months checking out different communities on my free weekends. In the fall of 1998 I stumbled across a vacant lot in Glenn Shores and the rest is history. I built this as my summer home and moved in July of 1999, during the summer of 2009 I moved in and made it my year around home. Glenn Shores is a wonderful community, I have wonderful neighbors and have made some lifelong friends. My two girls now 17 & 22, spend countless hours on the beach and at the cottage, we made memories that will last a lifetime.

What makes this cottage unique

Glenn Shores is located between South Haven & Saugatuck Michigan, it's roughly a 7 mile drive to either city. Whether you are looking for a peaceful community to chill and relax, or if you are more of the social type, you can find it near Glenn Shores. Feel free to ask me questions about the community or what to do.

Excellent. We would do it again.

  • 4 of 5

Clean, convenient, private, extra special amenities. Wonderful. Only problem was I felt misled on price. I would have preferred knowing the cleaning fee and the VRBO fee up front. Felt like a surprise. That turns me off.

Owner's Response: I am sorry you feel mislead, by no means is that how I do business. The rate, cleaning fees, and VRBO fees are clearly defined in my rental agreement, and in the price breakdown that you see prior to submitting your request to rent my cottage home. It's confusing to me how either of those items could have been a surprise. VRBO's fees are VRBO's fees, and have nothing to do with the home owner, they are set and collected by VRBO, and not the home owner, if anyone has an issue with the VRBO fees they should contact VRBO.

Quaint, affordable cottage getaway

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I rented this cottage with another couple for a fun getaway weekend. This cottage was cute and well-appointed. The owner was responsive and accommodating - even while preparing his other home for a hurricane! Good location, about half way between South Haven and Saugatuck - which was great as we wanted to explore both places. The lake access isn't great for doing much more than watching the sunset, but that's due to how high the lake level is now.

Outstanding!

  • 5 of 5

Great location, beautiful main room, expansive and relaxing deck - with small touches like the goodies basket to make you feel welcome. It was the perfect place to begin and end each day as we explored wineries and the charm of South Haven and Saugatuck. Will have to return to use the fire pit. Thanks, Rod!

Cottage is great but no beach

  • 4 of 5

I rented this cottage because of the beach front access in the description. Unfortunately, there is no beach. The stairs for the walking access point to to the beach have been removed. It's just a wooden observation deck now. The second access point by car is a concrete boat ramp that is broken into several large chunks and is not safe to walk on. So, we were forced to go to one of the public beaches in a nearby town. I highly recommend Oval Beach in Saugatuck. It's a great sand beach and my kids could walk all the way out the the markers and still touch with their head above the water.

The cottage itself is nice. It is well maintained and has updated appliances. It has every amenity that you could want in a home away from home. They even provided keurig coffee pods and a basket of snacks. We took a walk around the neighborhood and saw quite a bit of wildlife.

Wonderful home, central location, clean and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our weekend stay at this cottage. It was VERY clean, comfy beds and furniture & had a well stocked kitchen. The owner left snacks and s'mores supplies with roasting sticks. We enjoyed the bonfire with plenty of firewood and the small yard was nice for our young kids. We would stay again. We were disappointed that the private beach area was closed due to high water levels and that the gated beach was also Unswimmable due to the boat launch needing repairs, but I feel these were outside the owners control and He was otherwise very accommodating and prompt to answer questions. We spent time in saugatuck and south haven (both a 15 min drive) and hit up Sherman's dairy bar for a nice treat!
