About Rod

I grew up in West Michigan and spend the majority of my life in the area. I am a business owner and I spend my time traveling between my homes in Michigan and Florida.

Rod purchased this cottage in 1999

Why Rod chose Southwest Michigan

I've always enjoyed the beaches along Lake Michigan. When I decided to purchase a summer home I spend months checking out different communities on my free weekends. In the fall of 1998 I stumbled across a vacant lot in Glenn Shores and the rest is history. I built this as my summer home and moved in July of 1999, during the summer of 2009 I moved in and made it my year around home. Glenn Shores is a wonderful community, I have wonderful neighbors and have made some lifelong friends. My two girls now 17 & 22, spend countless hours on the beach and at the cottage, we made memories that will last a lifetime.

What makes this cottage unique

Glenn Shores is located between South Haven & Saugatuck Michigan, it's roughly a 7 mile drive to either city. Whether you are looking for a peaceful community to chill and relax, or if you are more of the social type, you can find it near Glenn Shores. Feel free to ask me questions about the community or what to do.

Beautiful home, perfect location! We were steps from Lake Michigan and due to the time of year, it was very quiet and peaceful. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a Lake Michigan getaway that isn't the normal Grand Haven/Holland/Saugatuck tourist mecca. We would love to come back!!

A Perfect Late Fall Weekend in Glenn Shores!

  • 5 of 5

What a great place for a weekend get-away! There were 3 couples in our group and we all thought the home was great. It was very clean and provided everything we needed: linens, towels, nicely equipped kitchen, WiFi, fireplace, big screen TV, and a very comfortable spot for a weekend of relaxed fun. We enjoyed the beautiful sunset on Lake Michigan, shopping in South Haven, having dinner in Saugatuck, and conversation around the fireplace. The owner was great to work with and very accommodating. We look forward to returning to this property again next year!

Absolutely the best cozy cottage!

  • 5 of 5

Girlfriends fall weekend getaway!! This is by far the best cottage home we've ever stayed in. Extremely clean, very well kept & fully equipped with everything we could need! The beds & pillows are very comfortable. The bath towels felt brand new! It's surrounded by trees & just a nice, leisurely walk to the lake. All the homes are adorable on the way & every neighbor we ran into was so friendly offering fun ideas of things to do nearby. We went to South Haven town each day, 10 min drive to cute shops, bars & restaurants. Although I would've had no problem relaxing in the cottage all weekend. The fire pit is incredible & stocked with firewood & 6 comfortable adirondack chairs.

The photos don't do justice to the property & Rod is extremely hospitable & accommodating. He's very quick to reply to the numerous questions I had while planning.

I highly recommend this cottage home to friends & family. We're already looking at return dates for next fall! Thank you so much Rod for such a wonderful weekend!

Family Fall Trip

  • 5 of 5

Had a great family/friends stay. Liked the use of keypad lock for entering house and hence no need to arrange hard meeting time with owner. Rod was also very accommodating with and earlier check in time for us, makes a big difference for a two night stay. Appreciated s'mores supplies provided, availed of fire pit and grill during our stay. Within 20 min drive of both Saugatuck and South Haven and we enjoyed visits to each town. Plenty of farms and orchards within vicinity for apple picking, hayrides, ... We went to crane orchards. The property itself was very comfortable and had a well stocked kitchen in terms equipment and pantry items (spice rack, salt, pepper, ...). Only drawback was the closest beach access (there is another a little further away) was closed as it's in need of repair (stairway) but this time of year the beach wasn't a high priority for us.

Great place for a relaxing, low-key getaway

  • 5 of 5

This property was great - very clean and comfortable. Rod was very thorough in providing information in advance and was a wonderful host. The neighborhood was very peaceful and and scenic, and we enjoyed just strolling around the community. The property was a little further away from restaurants and shopping than other South Haven properties we had considered, but that was fine for our group. During our visit, we enjoyed a chartered fishing trip with It Il Do Charters (they were also great to work with), checking out the local shops and playing games at the house. We enjoyed our trip and would definitely recommend Rod's vacation house if you are considering a trip to the South Haven area.
