Perfect writer's retreat; romantic getaway; or small family gathering spot!

Drive by horse farms, wineries and sheep meadows, and feel your blood pressure drop as you approach your home away from home in bucolic Clinton Corners.

Pull into the drive and you will immediately see that this handcrafted, wood beauty set on just under 2 acres is no ordinary vacation rental.

You are welcomed by the front porch with Adirondack chairs and table surrounded by columns carefully hewn from trees. Enter into the vaulted and beamed living area which includes a wood stove for those cool nights and plenty of room to lounge and read, chat, play board games... or even watch TV. Up a few steps and you'll find a chef's dream kitchen: Viking gas stove (yes, gas stove!), Jenn Air Oven; Kitchen Aid fridge and dishwasher - loads of cookbooks or create your own masterpieces if you aren't going to use the outdoor charcoal grill!

Dine al fresco on one of 3 large outdoor decks – the 50 foot long, west-facing deck off the back with built in bench the whole length for glorious sunsets and starry nights; the covered porch off the side of the kitchen; or a casual snack or drink on the covered front porch. And if the temperature or weather doesn’t permit – dine in the dining room with sliding door onto the back deck.

When your day of exploring this glorious part of the Hudson Valley has ended retreat to a delicious night’s sleep serenaded by frogs and crickets in one of the 2 bedrooms:

Master bedroom: upstairs is the huge, open and vaulted Master Bedroom with a handmade, king-sized bed crafted by the previous owner and even sliding doors leading to a small, west-facing balcony – a full bathroom with clawfoot tub and shower are also on the upper floor. This is the only area with an in wall AC unit. Otherwise the house stays nice and cool and there are ceiling fans throughout

Guest bedroom: a peaceful night’s sleep awaits in the queen sized second bedroom – another full bathroom with tub and shower is just a few steps from the door

Take full advantage of the boundless and beautiful outdoor spaces by getting some sun on the deck, have a cocktail while playing bocce or croquet as the sun is setting …or take a long, lazy afternoon nap in one of the 2 hammocks.

For those times when you stay in: read one of the many, many books on the shelves throughout the house; use the super fast wifi internet that is available; watch HD TV; play board games…the world is your oyster.

About Michelle & Tom

We live in Brooklyn and work in NYC.

Michelle & Tom purchased this house in 2014

Why Michelle & Tom chose Central - Leatherstocking

We both fell in love with it the moment we saw it. The previous owner was a master wood worker and built it from the ground up. It reminded us both so very much of my family's house in Sweden. It's just paradise!

What makes this house unique

No need to take blood pressure medication while you are here. Fall asleep to the sound of frogs and crickets and wake to the whinnying of the horses across the way...

Gorgeous cabin where you feel immediately at home

  • 5 of 5

I stayed with three friends for a weekend and we absolutely loved it. Michelle and Tom are wonderful hosts and were so helpful from the very beginning. They greeted us with a bottle of prosecco and left some herbs for us in the fridge to use. Although they gave us some tips where to go and dine, we preferred staying in the cabin at night to take advantage of their beautiful kitchen and the outside porch. Entering the cabin we immediately felt at home, everything is decorated with so much love. We enjoyed every minute there and definitely want to come back. Plus if you are looking for a goodnight sleep, this is the place to be. Coming from the noisy city of NY, the only sound you can hear there is the sound of nature. It is a little paradise, fortunately not that far from the city. Thank you Michelle and Tom for sharing this with guests.

BEAUTIFULL COUNTRY SETTING!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Michelle and Tom's house for a weekend wedding at West Point. Conveniently located to Wappinger Falls and West Point (maybe 50 mins away to West Point). Beautiful country setting and the house is very cozy. I would imagine this place would be quite cozy in the winter as it has a nice wood stove. Michelle and Tom were very gracious hosts and had the place completely well stocked with EVERYTHING!!!.. Love the assortment of cookbooks only wish I would have had time to cook! - EXCELLENT place to stay in this part of NY!!

Terrific place. Terrific owners. Terrific time.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have rented before in both Dutchess and Columbia counties. This experience was the best. The place was clean, comfortable and really attractive. A garden full of tomatoes and fresh herbs was a bonus. The owners were responsive to the few questions and requests we had. The location is great -- near Millbrook, Rhinecbeck and Norther Dutchess. A good time was had by us.

Charming and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Lovely, charming place to stay. Rustic wooden home (even prettier than the pictures) with all modern conveniences and amenities, including internet that ALWAYS worked. Tom and Michelle sent us a 14-page document that told us everything we needed to know about the house, the area, and the local sites -- so we felt right at home from day one. We stayed for 3 weeks; it was hard to leave.

Yes, it is as good as it looks!

  • 5 of 5

This is a very lovely home, with emphasis on the "home" aspect because I felt like a welcome guest. This house has great energy and worked very well for us as a place to stay during our workshop at Omega. I wish we had more time to enjoy all of the lawn games and other amusements available at the house
