High School English Teacher 20 years. Love to bike, eat at the local restaurants and refurbish furniture. I also like to use glass and tile in creating new works as well as paint. Traveling around the world is a dream of mine so I actively participate in travel experiences taking my students with me whenever possible.
Ann Rodgers purchased this cottage in 1995
The sunsets are incredible. The neighborhood is quiet. Close to everything. I came to the Outer Banks to regroup and it has been refreshing. I met my boyfriend here and am so glad that this is the place of our early memories.
Small beach at the end of the street, Canal in the back for crabbing and fishing, quiet street with wonderful neighbors, within miles of two of the best restaurants on the Outer Banks. House is set up just like a home away from home. You will be enveloped in happiness. Close to everything.
All of the guests who have stayed in the house since I posted it on VRBO have been outstanding. My guests leave the house almost as clean as when they received it and have respected all my little dodads that are in the house. I appreciate their kindness and their welcoming comments. I look forward to renting the house out to all of them again. Thanks.
We were so impressed by this amazing home and stunning view of the sound. The owner was so flexible and accomadating!!! We would highly recommend this place to anyone staying in the OBX.
We loved staying in Anne's home. It has lots of personality and has everthing you need just like home. Just down the road is a small beach area that we used to put our kayaks in and we enjoyed kayaking the channels behind the house. I will be booking her home again when we come back to the Outer Banks. You couldn't ask for a more accommodating home owner then Anne.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay...great location with all the comforts of home. Would definitely stay here again!
The convenience and hospitality received is simply unmatched by hotels or the like. Homey, clean, and nestled nearby to many hotspots in Nags Head, the rental house is a great choice! As it was my family's first time to the coast, having a house to return to after days of activities was more than welcome; we will definitely consider returning.
Ann shared her lovely Nags Head cottage with my wife and I to celebrate our 10th anniversary and this proved a great homebase for our travels north to Corolla to see the wild horses (Corolla Wild Horse Fund has GREAT tours) and all the way south to Hatteras to climb that beautiful and historic lighthouse. Ann provided great tips and recommendations in advance of our stay and her always-prompt responses to emails were sincerely appreciated. All the comforts of home are here if you want to cook and relax at home out on the deck or in the hammock or just hang out in the evenings in the family room and unwind. The cottage is in a quiet association where the few neighbors we encountered were friendly and we were so close to anywhere we wanted to be over our stay. Just a short drive from public parking and beach access made our beach days carefree. Lots of beach chairs provided to take along with us. The Outer Banks Mall is literally a couple minutes away with the Food Lion, The Fresh Market and multiple shopping and dining options. Be sure to check out Owens' Restaurant for a special dinner out (thanks for the tip, Ann!). When you're more in the mood for a laid back burger and beer right next to the surf take a short drive south to the Outer Banks Pier where Fish Heads will welcome you with acoustic music and a fun-loving crowd, especially during Happy Hour when the 15-cent steamed shrimp bring the masses of young and old to the shore. A great first taste of the Outer Banks here and we hope to return with family and friends someday soon!
Fun shops close in downtown Manteo, Roanoke Island Festival Park, Saturday Farmer's Market, Nags Head Open Air Saturday Night Movies, Outer Banks Hospital and Jeannette's Pier, plays, concerts, outlet mall shopping.
