Quaint Village of New Harbor

Bedrooms 3
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

Delightful, Sunny 3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom New England Home

Welcome to this charming white clapboard house in the quaint village of New Harbor, Maine. It’s a true traditional New England-style home with all of the comforts and conveniences to make your vacation relaxing and easy.

The location is ideal. You are less than a mile from Pemaquid Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world with a quarter-mile of fine white sand and plenty of rocks and tide pools to explore at either end. You are a short walk from picturesque New Harbor with several great lobster restaurants on the local piers, and just a few steps to the stores in the village (including delicious Maine-made ice-cream and Reilly’s Market where you can get just about anything you need, including fresh local ingredients, prepared foods, and the newspaper). You are also just two miles from the stunning Pemaquid Point Lighthouse where thunderous waves crash down on sculpted rocks.

The house is tastefully decorated, comfortably furnished, has a well-equipped kitchen and two full bathrooms. The dining room table seats up to 6 people, and there’s a nice porch in the back.

With three bedrooms, the house can accommodate up to 6 people. Two of the bedrooms have a double bed each, and one has two twin beds plus a daybed which can be converted into a crib. All the sheets and towels you’ll need are provided.

I have made a little book of my favorite local activities, restaurants and sights so you'll have plenty to explore and discover.

The Perfect Place

  • 5 of 5

If we owned a vacation home, we'd want it to be exactly like this. Comfortable, sunny, spacious, clean, well laid-out, and everything we need is there. The kitchen not only has everything for cooking and serving, down to a complete array of spices, but also things like breakfast cereal, coffee, flour, you name it. With the complete market within walking distance, we're all set. Plus a washer and dryer! And wi-fi! Netflix (but who has time for that; we didn't use it).

Too many great places to eat nearby (The Cupboard Cafe, Muscongus Bay lobster pound, Shaws, The Anchor, then more in Damariscotta, especially Savory Maine and Larson's Lunch Box).

In Damariscotta, we love the used bookstore, the bookstore and it's cafe, the library, both Reny's, both Weatherbirds.

So much to do, and such a beautiful part of the world.

The handbook of local attractions and amenities that Natalie put together is very useful. We've barely scratched the surface of things to do (next summer - puffins!).

Great little place in a beautiful part of the world!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in New Harbor. Pemaquid Beach is beautiful and Natalie was a great host. The house is well-located- very close to the lighthouse, the beach and Shaw's lobster pound. It is also 20 minutes away from Damirascotta. Lovely coastal drives all around. Highly recommended!

Easy and relaxing. Can't wait to go back!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying at the Asta house, fleeing the summer heat from the Boston area. It was the perfect place for our first vacation away from home with our baby. Everything was easy and relaxing. We hiked and swam at different places in the area all within 10 minutes drive. It was just a few minutes walk to get ice cream down the street. All the necessary cooking and baking dishes we needed were there. There were only 3 of us, but there's plenty of space for a bigger group. Lots of board games and a large dining table are ideal for evenings. We would highly recommend this house for a family vacation with kids of all ages. We can't wait to go back!

Clean and Efficient

  • 4 of 5

A lovely stay at the Asta House. Just what we needed and the location worked well with our vacation plans. The house was clean and charming, and the kitchen was equipped for cooking. Natalie was a pleasure to communicate with and answered all our questions and directed us to 4th of July fireworks. Just a note, the upstairs bathroom, while being full size, had a hand held shower in the tub, which might be ok for bathing children but didn't work for an adult. Wish the lawn had been mowed, it would have added to the curb appeal, certainly not a deal breaker. Great little grocery store, ice cream and gift shop no more than a block away.

Ah, September in Maine...

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at the Asta House in early September and liked it so much we decided to go back for another week later in the month. September in Maine is just magic!

Natalie put together a book with great suggestions about places to go and things to do.The house is cozy and comfortable, and is in a great location. It took just minutes to get to the beach, Pemaquid Point, Shaw's and the Hardy Boat. Reilly's Grocery Store had everything we needed and is right around the corner. We had a great time and would definitely recommend the Asta House.

Great House in Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a week at the Asta House in New Harbor.

The house is in a very good location: close to everything New Harbor has to offer. The house is clean and nicely furnished. We had six people (grandparents, parents and children) and the grandparents enjoyed having a bedroom and bathroom on the first floor while the younger set shared the two upstairs bedrooms and bath. It worked out very well.

New Harbor is Maine at its best. Nearby are a sandy beach, rocky lighthouse outcrop, lobster restaurants, Monhegan Island and more. We enjoyed biking or walking to most locations.

We recommend this property without hesitation.
