Big house, Small kitchen.
The house was very nice, Comfy beds, lots of towels an sheets. The house is well stocked, With all your paper needs. The house is set up a little different, Master is big yet closet is tiny. House has a ton of living space, Yet a very small kitchen. The elevator was nice to have, As we were able to have friends visit who needed it. Only one TV in the house, Which made it hard with kids. House is ok for kids, But bring plastic cups and plates for them - Kitchen is all glass items, Also could not fine steak knife's.. Thank you
Great for families
Beautiful large space where our extended family could all have privacy. Can't give 5 stars due to weak wifi and non existent wifi in guest house and upper floors. For the price we expected better linens (our sheets had holes in them).
Beautiful home and setting
We had a wonderful time at this beautiful home during a family graduation. The setting is lovely and the house is spotless and well appointed. There are places for everyone to be together and places for curling up to read a good book. My only recommendation is to be cautious with young children, but the house is a delight.
We recently stayed at the Lighthouse so the whole family could stay together for our daughter's graduation from UNH. It was perfect for the whole family. The house was beautiful and we loved all of the little artistic details like the crown moldings, medallions, and the mantelpiece. We enjoyed the beautiful views, especially from the top of the lighthouse and from the dock across the street. We had meals together in the dining room and spent evenings chatting in the living room or watching TV.
The location is terrific. It is situated on Chauncey Creek and is a short drive from shops in York, the Kittery outlets, and the great restaurants in Portsmouth.
I do not recommend the house for anyone with toddlers because of the many stairs, but the elevator was a terrific help for Grandma and Grandpa, who have some mobility issues.
Ed and Rosie are excellent hosts and were very attentive to all our needs. Our arrival was delayed by several hours due to traffic on our drive to Maine, and they were very understanding and accommodating. We recommend their lovely home to anyone looking for a fun getaway.
Clean and spacious!
Our group of seven stayed at the Lighthouse for four nights in November. I'm picky about cleanliness and this place is spotless! The only exception would be some spots on the light carpet (but it's probably from renters not following instructions!). The location is beautiful and quiet. Just beware if you are crossing the street! The house is on a curve and someone in our party was almost hit by a car! The driveway is on a steep hill and it's a little tricky also. We did a lot of cooking during our stay and found most of what we needed. I would suggest better knives. I brought to the owners attention a problem with the coffee maker and the need for food storage containers for leftovers. A few in our party suggested the need for more TV's (but it didn't bother me). There are a couple of areas in the home without furnishings. The house could sleep more, maybe on airbeds, if allowed. It was a pleasure dealing with Edward and we will return if we visit again with a large group!
Perfect New England property
We settled into this wonderful home for the first week of October. The setting was pretty spectacular, surrounded by trees changing colors and overlooking beautiful Chauncey Creek. The Lobster Pier was within easy walking distance for the best lobster rolls we had on the whole trip. The house is even better than the pictures. Although it is large and roomy, it still felt cozy and was well appointed. The kitchen had everything we needed, and more, bedrooms and bathrooms completely comfortable, and we poured over helpful books and pamphlets with local information left on the coffee table in the family room.
The location couldn't be better: history all around us in Portsmouth, NH and Portland, ME, and the lighthouses and trails along the Maine coast kept us busy every day. You don't even want to know about the factory outlets! We spent one rainy day there and could barely get our suitcases closed going home. We had to ship our purchases home from Stonewall Kitchen and are now stocked for months! We had exceptional meals in local restaurants, but also stayed in and cooked, simply to enjoy the house. The caretaker, Julianna, gave us some great suggestions for restaurants and really went above and beyond the call of duty when we called her (on her wedding day, no less!) to tell her we left a Kindle behind. She had it to us just a couple of days later. The whole experience was perfect and we cannot wait to go back--as soon as possible!
