About Abigail Klamert

I grew up in Texas but my roots are in Deersville. This is my great grandparent's home and I spent every summer here until it was sold years ago. It is a dream come true to own my grandpa's house in Deersville!

Abigail Klamert purchased this house in 2012

Why Abigail Klamert chose Deersville

Hazel was my grandmother and she grew up here as did my mother. This house is beautiful and we restored her to original 1850's beauty but added our Texas touches. Fully furnished kitchen and bath, everything you need to relax or explore.

What makes this house unique

The 100 year old Deersville General Store is right next door. You will love the peace and quiet at Hazel's House. But this little village is a busy place in the summer with the Deersville Community Players theater productions on weekends and Tappan Lake and Clendenning Lake Parks literally just down the road! The Buckeye Trail loop is nearby and miles of scenic byways, Amish country, and check out the Train Museum and depot in Dennison, 12 miles west. Or you can relax on the porch swing and do nothing at all!

Lovely Historic Home

  • 5 of 5

We spent two nights at Hazel's House, and absolutely loved it! The home is so charming and cozy. It was just like spending the weekend at a friends house. Oh, and the steam shower was amazing!! What a wonderful weekend away for us, as well as our two dogs. Thank you for sharing, and we hope to stay again!

Lovely home for a weekend getaway.

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at Hazel's house. The house was beautiful, spacious, and equipped with lots of games for kids (and adults) to play with. It was also very close to Tappan Lake Park, which is a scenic park where we went hiking. Access to a washer and dryer would have been an added bonus, but we still had an excellent time without it.

Absolute blast...just what we were looking for!

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking to get away for a time, to relax, to reflect, to reconnect with yourself, this is the place. Myself, my wife, our two year old, two friends, a dog all stayed for two nights at this gorgeous home. Totally reminded us of an old-fashioned farm house and the perfect getaway from the city (of Pittsburgh).

Don't be deterred by the videos that show it right on the street. It's not very busy and extremely quiet, if that is what you are looking for. The rooms are all immense, stunningly decorated and have a quaint southern/Texan/farm feel. Made us feel right at home. The kitchen is spacious, has everything and more of what you need.

The bathroom is for sure the highlight - a steam room and shower all in one. Plus the floor tiles are heated! There is an excellent backyard where both the dog and our child ran around and had tons of fun. We played bocce, drank wine, grilled, and had fun on the back deck. Another huge plus was the hot tub out back.

Added bonus - the house is right next to the general store where you can literally get anything you might have forgotten as well as gas and ice cream. Of course, not to mention the house is a 5 min drive from the lake where we went hiking, swam and played on the beach.

Would do this again in a hot minute. Just a very special place that is clearly cared for with love and history. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed our time and especially loves the selection of games. We made lots of awesome memories. The backyard was perfect for our dog and the porch swings was always occupied. Thank you for sharing your home!

Overall, it was nice.

  • 4 of 5

Some small issues: When we arrived on Friday, the house was very warm. We turned the AC on and it cooled the downstairs pretty well but even on Sunday when we left, the bedrooms never really cooled down. We had to use the fans to make it comfortable. Also, it took quite a bit of fooling around to get the TV working. Also, there were a lot of small gnats around the kitchen. We only used the kitchen for making coffee so it wasn't a major deal. Lastly, the shower head is too close to the wall and only half of the jets work, so it made it difficult for a larger person to get a decent shower.

All that being said, the house was clean and nicely decorated. It is a cozy house.

Beautiful historic home with modern amenities

  • 5 of 5

Great spot for a weekend getaway with my girlfriend. The home was well maintained and we enjoyed the large back porch and back yard, especially that hot tub! Everyone we met in town was warm and friendly, and we were only a mile down from the beach. Highly recommend!
