Urban chic meets country living! The Wesson Barn Loft is an 860 sq. ft. totally unique, unexpectedly modern, studio style lodging on the second floor (20 steps) of our barn. We designed and built the space with great attention to detail and function; it imparts an open, but intimate feel. The Loft boasts a fully furnished, jazzy kitchen; just add food. The full bath has plenty of storage and full-sized laundry facilities. The open living area sleeps two in a queen-sized bed and also sleeps two in a queen-sized, trundle-style/pop-up (NOT hide-a-bed) couch. There is a spacious, relaxing, south-facing deck with the best views of our country property and our chickens and sheep or as a place to enjoy great views of the sunrise or sunset. Also furnished are high-speed, wireless internet, a big screen TV with Blu-ray DVD, CD, iPOD dock and Bose sound system. Parking is right outside the door.
We are located one mile from downtown Pullman, two miles from Washington State University and 10 miles from the University of Idaho just across the state line in Moscow, ID.
We are about 45 minutes from the Snake and Clearwater Rivers which offer boating and fishing as well as jet boat trips on the Snake River up Hell's Canyon.
There are extensive mountain biking trails on nearby Moscow Mountain as well as a 30-mile paved trail system that connects Pullman and Moscow and continues on to Troy, ID. This trail system provides easy-access, cross-country skiing in the winter time.
There is a tournament level golf course on the Washington State University campus plus two more golf courses in Moscow, ID (only 10 miles away).
In general, we offer a peaceful country setting with a twist. The Loft is a place to slow down and enjoy all that a small, university town has to offer.

I became a rental owner sort of by accident. I did basic research for 24 years at the University of Idaho and when an early retirement option became available, I took it. I didn't know I was going to learn so much about carpentry, power tools and finish work. My husband and I have designed and built three buildings on our four acres and gutted and renovated our 120-year-old farmhouse. We think we have an addiction to building! The goal now is to make our creations work for us.
We also enjoy backpacking, canyoneering, rafting and kayaking. In addition, I like to sew, bake, garden and be an engaged and happy Grandma to my two grandsons who live ten minutes away.
Carla Wesson purchased this barn in 2006
We offer unique lodging in a peaceful country setting. The landscape of the surrounding area of the Palouse is spectacular. Having two land-grant universities within eight miles of each other makes this a vibrant community.
What an incredible gem in the fields of The Palouse ...... Just outside of Pullman and WSU. Cannot wait to go back! Thanks to Rich and Carla for their wonderful welcome and attention to every detail, to accommodate your every need..... wonderful wonderful stay!
This is a simply beautiful flat, supplied with everything you can think of (e.g., pizza slicer!). We added a day to our stay because we loved it too much to leave as planned. The access to town and campus is excellent, walking the property is a real treat, and I fell in love with the chickens.
Not appropriate for people who have trouble with stairs, but the "loft" in the name probably makes that clear.
Our stay in the Wesson Barn Loft was fabulous! It is perfectly appointed, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed watching deer, owls, bunnies, geese and ducks, not to mention the Wesson's chickens! The location is close to town, but has an "out in the country" feel with walking trails nearby. The kitchen was easy to cook in, the television has a great sound system and the bed is heavenly. Rich and Carla are wonderful hosts! We highly recommend them and the loft!
My husband and I stayed at the Wesson Barn Loft for about 6 weeks while working on a project at Schweitzer Engineering in Pullman. We are true road warriors, moving all over the country from project to project with our construction business, so we have seen it all in terms of accommodations. The Barn Loft is, by far, the best place we have ever stayed while traveling for business! This studio apartment is out-fitted with everything you need to settle in. It was perfect for two people long-term, but could easily accommodate four people short-term. The urban decor is a delightful contrast to the country setting, and provides a relaxed, comfortable vibe. Other reviewers are correctin saying that the pictures do not do justice to the interior or outdoor scenery of this place. We really enjoyed cooking in the well-equipped kitchen and outdoor grill, and having cocktails on the private balcony overlooking well-maintained gardens. The owners have chickens (which are very entertaining to watch) and sheep on the property, both of which can be viewed from the balcony. The delicious fresh eggs were also a plus! We saw a lot of other wildlife on the property, like deer and many species of birds. The barn loft has an "out in the country" feel, but it is just a 5 min drive from downtown or 10 min from the University or SEL. The surrounding neighborhood is well-maintained with a lot of natural beauty and little traffic, so I enjoyed taking short walks in the cool mornings. The owners were very friendly, attentive, respectful of our privacy, and accommodating of our needs, especially since our departure date was a bit of a moving target. This gem was such a relief for us weary travelers. I wish we didn't have to leave!
We, four of us, drove 1600 miles to check out WSU, and this is the place we chose to stay. We didn't want to leave, and in fact when we make a return trip in the next 5 years, we will be staying again! You couldn't ask for a better place to stay, even home! The hosts were absolutely top notch and the place was impeccable in every detail. The pictures that they have posted online of this place don't even come close to doing it justice. I would recommend to anyone to stay here and enjoy it before you have to trudge back home again! Well worth it in any circumstance. Thank you so very much for a wonderful stay.
We drove to Pullman to visit our son, a sophomore at WSU. We were delighted to find this well designed and beautifully decorated space--so clean and modern with every amenity we could need. The loft has a unique feel with views of farm land and the hills of the Palouse, yet so close to the WSU campus. We sincerely appreciated the quiet and cool space after the 95 degree heat of the day.
You have done a magnificent job of creating a modern loft in the country. Thank you so much!

Good news for travelers to Moscow or Pullman - finally there's a terrific vrbo in the area. Say goodbye to the Quality Inn. The Wesson barn loft is beautifully designed and furnished. It has everything you hope for in a vacation rental : great location, wonderful views, comfortable bed, a fully stocked kitchen (with excellent pans), and gracious hosts who make you wish you could stay longer. Thank you, Carla and Rich!
