Lake Lure Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

Call or email for Special Rates! This charming 1000 square foot cottage is private, quaint, welcoming and exceptionally clean. Come sit on the back decks and enjoy over 200’ of private creek frontage, cook hot dogs and marshmallow at the campfire, or sit on the double swing overlooking our two small waterfalls and relax on a half acre of frontage on Hickory Creek. We like to boast that we have one of the best view of the Creek and Hickory Nut Gorge and surrounding mountains. Discover the magic of Hickory Nut Gorge and Chimney Rock!

Chimney Rock Cottage is perfect for a romantic getaway or small gatherings of up to 6 people. The Cottage has one king-size bed, a double bed in the second bedroom, a queen-size sofa bed in living room, a Franklin stove with gas logs, three AC window units, Washer and Dryer, fully equipped kitchen (except no dishwasher), televisions, DVD players and outdoor grill.

Guests love to share breakfast on the deck at the intimate Creekside table for 2 and watch the sun dance over the small double waterfalls below. There's also a larger outdoor picnic table for additional seating. Beyond the deck, an inviting boardwalk beckons you to enjoy nature's playground of over half an acre of shady woods and creek frontage in a park-like setting. The crystal clear waters of Hickory Nut Creek are perfect for wading, fishing or just splashing around to cool off after a hot day. The less adventuresome can laze away the day in the hammock, lulled to sleep by the rushing water sounds of the creek, just a stone's throw away. In the evenings, it's a cottage tradition to gather around the fire pit for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows and sharing a picnic supper down by the creek.

We would also highly recommend that you visit Chimney Rock State Park for hiking and the town of Chimney Rock for gem mining, shopping, eating, especially ice cream, which are only a 3 minute drive from the cottage; Asheville, only 20 miles from the cottage is fantastic for shopping, dining and entertainment. Charming Hendersonville also has a quaint f=downtown and variety of shopping, dining and entertainment and is a quick 15 minute drive. Explore too while you are here the beautiful Lake Lure a 7 minute drive with 360 degree panorama views, fine dining, a manmade beach and water slide, rent a boat or bring your own and of course fishing.

Finally, after a full day exploring this beautiful area, fall asleep at the end of the day to the sounds of rushing Hickory Nut Creek which can be heard from every room in the cottage. As our guests often note at the end of their stay, 'Chimney Rock Cottage was all you said it would be . . . and more.'

This was a great place to stay. We will stay here again.

The Creekside Cottage was perfect. It had everything we needed and was located conveniently to Asheville, Lake Lure, and other cities. The creek with the eye waterfalls behind the property made it so clam and relaxing. We spent a lot of time on the porch just listening to the running water. Thank you for allowing us to stay.

Beautiful relaxing cottage

We liked spending time in Creekside Cottage in Chimney Rock. It has convenient location, very close to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. Very nice furnishing with cute funny little things. The river and waterfall near the cottage is amazing, we loved spending time outside, making barbecue.

Creekside Cottage is the perfect place!

  • 5 of 5

My family really enjoyed our stay at Creekside Cottage last week, the location right on the beautiful creek is second to none. There is nothing like coming back to the cottage after a long day of hiking and/or sightseeing to take a dip in the creek in your own backyard! Also, its location in Batcave is the perfect distance to Lake Lure as well as Chimney Rock Village, just a couple miles each way, it is also just 10 minutes to a huge Ingles Supermarket and several gas stations nearby; only 22 miles to Asheville and 15 miles to Hendersonville. The cottage is well appointed with a full kitchen, 2 bedrooms and large bathroom, it was the perfect size for our small family of 4, but I also noticed there was a sofabed in the living room, so this could comfortably accommodate a family of 6 max. One of the best features of this home is the large balcony which overlooks the creek, nothing like opening the kitchen door in the morning to the sound of the river while you sip your morning joe. The home has funny little signs posted throughout, you can tell a lot of time and thought was spent decorating. Also the outdoor area has a nice gas grill, plus hammock, chairs by the river and a nice rock fire pit for s'mores and ghost stories by the campfire. The property manager Jerry was excellent, with great communication before and during the stay. It was hard to leave this place, but we will definitely be back next year for another stay.

Bat Cave GEM

  • 5 of 5

Clean - Organized - Welcoming

These are words to describe our vacation in Bat Cave.

The location was perfect for exploring NC landmarks and natural beauty, especially on the HARLEY.

The cabin was well stocked with most of the comforts of home.

The creek is awesome.

The property smelled bad and had a rodent problem

  • 1 of 5

The single most horrible vacation experience of our lives. Upon sitting down to dinner a rodent ran out from under the stove and across our feet then into the bedroom and up into the A/C unit. The towels, & the whole house smelled very bad. My daughter thought the pungent odor was cat urine. They state it is an animal free house... with a litter box right by the front door? At first when I called Jerry, he was nice and we agreed to vacate by 11 and we'd get a refund; he would use the time to sort out his property. We were making our final walk thru at 11 to make sure everything was in order, when a woman showed up and suggested we were lying, (even though the property had mouse traps in the bathroom and kitchen area). They never offered to clean the house and in fact she took the keys. She approached my car and stated we would only receive a full refund if the exterminator was to find any evidence of a rodent in the house. She then walked away from me as I was trying to tell her I never intended to just lose from our investment - but she ignored me waving & got in her car and drove away with the keys. Then, I wrote an email saying "look, if you don't intend to give us our money back, get a cleaning crew and exterminator in there. Please - let us know what is happening - we are without a place to stay tonight!" Those pleas went unanswered, so we were forced to book other accommodations. They ran the clock out, not offering to clean and not having the exterminator there until the day before our rental ended. Jerry now confirms that the exterminator did in fact find evidence (he claims of one mouse... it must be a loner?), but now changes his tune again and offers only half our money back. We could not stay with the property in such poor condition...we even found rodent droppings on the rug. It's sad because we had stayed there once before and enjoyed our visit and expected to enjoy ourselves. This time, we found the cottage very poorly maintained.. it is deserving of a tear down. I suggest you don't stay here unless you're ready for hassle and the heartache of dealing with double-talking, unethical property owners. It is a waterfront cottage and I am sure that from time to time there can be problems with critters, but the multitude of issues made this property unlivable and instead of making it right, this property owner just took the position, "oh well, too bad, so sad" and kept half our money... even after locking us out. Despicable!

This was the best little vacation we could have hoped for.

  • 5 of 5

The property was in the perfect location, snuggled against a gorgeous creek. The cottage itself was extremely clean, and had many updated appliances. When I bring my family back to this area for another vacation, this is the cottage I will choose.

Though still somewhat of a hidden gem, Rumbling Bald Climbing Access is considered to be world-class bouldering and technical rock climbing with some of the best terrain in the Southeast. It contains an estimated 1,500 bouldering problems that are easily accessible in this non-fee section of Chimney Rock State Park. The most popular climbing seasons are fall and winter.

A new half-mile hiking trail from the parking area to the climbing area was completed in December 2012 with the help of a group of local volunteers, including the Carolina Climbers Collation, Friends of Chimney Rock State Park and Carolina Mountain Club. Visitors may park in the designated parking area located off Boys Camp Road. Cars should not be parked along the entrance drive, on the grass or along the wooden bollards. Additional parking is available at the Town of Lake Lure's municipal parking lot on Hwy 64/74A, from which you can carpool. For directions and the latest information, visit www.ncparks.gov
