About Jeff and Lisa Nicely

My husband and myself left the busy city

life of Fort Wayne, Indiana and decided to

make a change. We bought this house

which use to be a barn, and converted the lower area into a vacation rental. We want our guest to see a little part of

God's Country. We are self employed,

we love animals and enjoy the wildlife.

We enjoy the lake, golfing, and our

inground swimming pool as much as we can. There so much to see and do

in Southern Indiana, its a hidden secret.

Jeff and Lisa Nicely purchased this lodge in 2004

Why Jeff and Lisa Nicely chose Indiana

We bought this home because of the location and Patoka Lake. We never knew how beautiful Southern Indiana

was, until we actually moved here. Living in the country is far enough away from the busy towns yet only 45 miles from majors cities like Louisville.

What makes this lodge unique

We enjoy watching a Bald Eagle, fly over the house, and then later discover his nest, and watch him feed his young, we love the water activities, swimming, fishing, boating, we love to play golf once a week, and take a deep breath of country.

Great times and tons of fun

  • 5 of 5

Jeff and Lisa's property was exactly as it was described! They have a wonderful area of land right off the lake. They were right there to greet us as we pulled up and were just as their last name says, extremely nice people. We were able to fit 6 guys in their 20's comfortably and the place was very clean, especially their pool! We had a great time and would definitely recommend it to anyone! Jeff and Lisa, thank you for having us!

Nice accomodations for 7 loud ladies

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this home in August of 2017 for our annual "nurses retreat." There were 7 of us ladies. We had plenty of room for all of our "stuff" (bags, coolers, food, beer, and wine) and enjoyed making breakfast in the spacious kitchen. The sleeping arrangements are not made for women over 50! The futon fold-out and the pull-out couch are better suited for children, but we made do for two nights. We decided we may have been more comfortable on air mattresses. One bathroom was not a problem. The pool is beautiful, the fire-pit is huge and amazing (firewood provided), and the combo gas/charcoal grill is fantastic. We hiked down the short trail to the lake (poison ivy sufferers beware!) but used a boat ramp a few miles away to launch the boat, as there is no boat ramp on the property. The owners live upstairs and were home off and on, but were very accommodating and did not intrude on our privacy at all, even when we were very loud all Saturday night! We took a short drive into French Lick for the casino, winery, and dinner. We enjoyed a day on Patoka Lake boating and tubing. The owners have the sweetest, large, fluffy dog named Kong who came to visit us. He is very well behaved, and he only came in when we invited him. I'm sure he smelled the sausage! One note to remember is that cell service is not reliable at this property, this includes GPS if you are using your phone for directions. You may want to print out a map to the property, as one member of our party got a bit lost. Wi-fi is provided, however. The owners also provide a land-line phone and we gave our contacts that number if they needed to reach us. We truly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this property. The only thing we would have liked was a hot tub when we got out of the pool! Thank you Jeff and Lisa for your hospitality!

Quiet, relaxed environment.

  • 5 of 5

The pool was the draw for us, and it didn't disappoint. It will be hard to go to a pool with chlorine again. Jeff checked us in and out, and he was very personable, helpful, and down to earth. Even though the owners were around, they totally respected our privacy, and we really didn't even see them. It's super quiet at the back of the house where we were, and there's a nice patio with an intimate feel to it as well as a grill and the firepit off to the side - a nice area to use and appreciate. We stayed 2 nights, and the TV was on for about 2 minutes the whole time. If you like outdoor pools and nature, this is a nice, clean property that we feel does both well.

Pictures don't do it justice, pool was awesome!

  • 5 of 5

We had 8 adults and 3 children under 6 so we we' re a little packed at night. The inside was open so we fit 2 queen air mattresses in there and still had room to move around. Lisa and Jeff were so accomadating. The patio/pool area/fire pit were awesome. Gas/charcoal grill combo was super nice also. 10 minute drive to painters creek ramp which wasn't busy at all from Sunday-Friday. Saturday was busy but the lake was still wonderful. We would definitely stay again. Thanks Lisa and Jeff for a wonderful experience!!!

beautiful, peaceful, a fantastic time

  • 5 of 5

This property is gorgeous. The house sits on bit of land at the end of a country road. The yard is well kept all the way up to the woods that surround Patoka lake. The salt water pool was cool and refreshing. Enjoying a roaring bonfire around the fire pit was a perfect and relaxing way to end the weekend. Jeff and Lisa were very gracious hosts and being able to use there basement room as a home base while we explored the Frenchlick resort and enjoyed a day on Patoka lake was ideal (not a far drive to either). The basement room is surprisingly spacious and easily fit 8 big guys in their early 20s comfortably. I would recommend this place and would certainly stay there again if the opportunity presented itself.
