Just right

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary with a relaxing weekend alone on the North Fork. None of the B&Bs or few hotel choices appealed to us, so I decided to look for a cozy cottage. I lucked out when I found this perfect cottage. It is very clean and comfortable with a beautiful kitchen and view. It had everything you'd need for a weekend or longer. We had Vintage wine tours (Joanne is the best!) pick us up right at the house for a four winery tour. We dined in Soutthold at Caci and spent a day on Sag Harbor and another in Greenport. The location is very central to the whole North Fork. The owner was very accommodating by rescheduling us when the weather washed out our plans. We hope to return !

Excellent getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My wife, myself and our friend stayed at the lovely cottage June 25 - 28th, and we had a great time. The house is well maintained, well stocked and very clean. The 2 kayaks provided were a blast to use on the Goldsmith Inlet which is right in the back yard. Sheri was very pleasant and helpful, and answered all of our questions, considering our booking was extremely last minute (same day!) Overall it was a perfect, peaceful and picturesque weekend getaway, and we would definitely do it again.

Great Weekend! Wonderful Sweet Cottage

  • 5 of 5

The house was great. Ken the owner was easy to deal with and the house is just as expected (true to the pictures) We didnt use the kitchen ( we ate out every meal), but it had most everything you could want. The house comes equipped with plenty of clean towels and a washer & dryer if needed.

The house was very clean and the sheets etc smelled (and looked) fresh and clean. The inlet is RIGHT OUTSIDE the sliding glass doors and made for beautiful sunsets!!! We made friends with the Swan that swam right up to the house by feeding it fresh bread. We saw turtles, egrets, frogs, deer and of course our pet swan! We loved the beach which was only about 1/3 of a mile away (you cant drive because you will get a ticket if you park in the lot without a town sticker).

Our dog loved the house too. It was an exceptionally hot weekend (98 degrees) and the house cooled off after we figured out how to use the AC, but if you are using the may get warm up there because the AC is not central and the second bedroom is VERY small, but perfect for a young child.

Once the heat wave broke we opened all the windows and it was GREAT!!!

The house is only about 15 minutes from Greenport and 7 minutes away from Southold. I reccomend you travel on 25 to see the selection of restaurants. Close by was Eriks which is open for Breakfast (great) and lunch (didnt try it). The Goat cheese farm about a mile or so away was great and the cheeses lovely! Please the goats are sweet!

Make sure you go to Greenport and try Billy's on The Bay (less of the crazyness then Claudios, but just as good) and Lavender on the Bay!

Perfect for a family

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here with our 6yo son for the July 4 weekend and had a fantastic time. The house itself is spotless, with a nice kitchen (I'm a food writer so I wished for more pots/pans, but it was fine for a short stay). We'd expected our son to sleep in the second bedroom, but once he got a look at the sleeping loft all bets were off--he claimed that space and had a blast, climbing the ladder & sleeping under the eaves. The back deck is right on the water, with a lovely view and more wildlife than this city family expected: Swans, a raccoon, and a turtle visited, and a fawn roamed in the nearby woods! The beach is a ten-minute walk and terrific for little ones, with a large tidal pool that never got too deep for our son to handle. It's a rocky beach, so bring water shoes. Pretty sunsets there, too.

Tons of farmstands all around, too. It was early in the season for a lot of local stuff, but there was still plenty worth buying.

One warning for families with little ones: There's no bathtub, only a (large, clean) shower stall. Our kid still isn't totally sold on the idea of showers, so this was a bit of a speedbump--especially after a day at the beach, when he *really* needed to get clean.

Charming Cottage

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I got married this past October and were not going on our honeymoon right away so we took an extended weekend out in Southold. This home is absolutely gorgeous. It is beautifully kept and the homeowners were a pleasure. The kitchen is great if you like to cook, the backyard is beautiful, it is right on the lake and it is a short walk/ride to the beach down the block, not to mention it is a short ride to vineyards, farms etc. We had a wonderful time at this home and would definitely come back!

Surrounded by the North Fork wine country. The cottage has complete privacy but yet close to shopping, movies, downtown Greenport. Come look at what Peconic looked like 75 years ago. Less than 1/4 mile to the private beach for Peconic renters.
