What a great place in an area you wouldn't expect! When we first drove the back way into this tiny town with abandon houses, etc, we were scared to see what we had gotten ourselves into. Boy, were we surprised. We found a very clean, well maintained and carefully-provided-for place. The owners obviously put a great deal of thought, preparation and upkeep into this rental. All new appliances, including an apartment-sized washer/dryer, a modern in-room air conditioner, new fridge, coffee maker etc. Things that can be annoying at rentals like a bad shower head and a rough bed were _not_ an issue at this rental. They hire a third party cleaning service which makes a difference. They invest quite some time in mowing a long, lovely walking trail around the private acreage in back of the loft. The "hill" of the "Hilltop" is not pictured and is really in back of the property that is further elevated and offers a nice view of the area. Then there's the central location. We managed the Arcadia nature preserve/dune, Frankfort, Traverse City and Interlochen all in 3 days. Crystal Mountain is down the street if that's your thing. Finally, you won't be stranded for breakfast even though you are in the middle of nowhere on route M115 -- there's a great little place, the "Bear Cafe", across the street. Also coming up to hear my daughter play at Interlochen, my folks took the route of paying $200ish/night to stay in the Quality Inn in Traverse City . . . I don't think so!
Stayed here twice before with no problems. Then this last time was horrible. We arrived to find out that we were snowed out of the drive way, the owners weren't even aware it snowed there. We politely ask them to have some one come plow and they start getting an attitude, telling us we don't know how to drive in the and snow and there wasn't even enough snow to come plow when there was literally 4 inches. We were in a car and we weren't taking any chances. No salt on the steps either so I could have easily slipped and fell. I was calmly explaining to the owners why were upset and they got offended! They were going to make us leave because we insulted them. I don't know how we could have talked any nicer to them. They are so lucky I didn't fall going up and down those steps they would have a lawsuit on there hands for sure. Please do not support them and stay here!! They are rude and disrespectful for no reason. My grandma owned cabins up north for 30 years and always made sure everything was shoveled and salt and the heat was turned up. Again DO NOT STAY HERE! Worst vacation ever because of the owners.
We were so pleasantly surprised by this super cute and very clean loft. We came for New Years skiing at Crystal Mountain. We had two adults and two teenagers and it was perfect! We cooked several meals and found everything we needed. Can't stress enough how clean it was! We will definitely be back!
We have very much enjoyed our stay at this pleasant and well appointed loft. It has everything one may need for a comfortable stay. Thank you!
This is a nice, clean, and cozy place. The little house is not connected to the main house, offering a lot of privacy. There is a short flight of stairs to get to the entrance, so if you don't like stairs, that may be something to consider. Plenty of hot water, comfortable bed and furnishings, washer and dryer, and a well equipped kitchen. We had everything we needed. The only reason we would consider not coming back is to be situated a bit closer to Traverse City. If we were going to do a ski vacation at Crystal Mountain, this place is only five minutes from there. So, this would be perfect location for skiing.
It was the most amazing place. I had the best time running the trails with my dog. Very dog friendly, the only slight issue was during the day around 1 or 2 it was a bit warm inside the cot. Easy access to lake only a short drive away.
