What a great place in an area you wouldn't expect! When we first drove the back way into this tiny town with abandon houses, etc, we were scared to see what we had gotten ourselves into. Boy, were we surprised. We found a very clean, well maintained and carefully-provided-for place. The owners obviously put a great deal of thought, preparation and upkeep into this rental. All new appliances, including an apartment-sized washer/dryer, a modern in-room air conditioner, new fridge, coffee maker etc. Things that can be annoying at rentals like a bad shower head and a rough bed were _not_ an issue at this rental. They hire a third party cleaning service which makes a difference. They invest quite some time in mowing a long, lovely walking trail around the private acreage in back of the loft. The "hill" of the "Hilltop" is not pictured and is really in back of the property that is further elevated and offers a nice view of the area. Then there's the central location. We managed the Arcadia nature preserve/dune, Frankfort, Traverse City and Interlochen all in 3 days. Crystal Mountain is down the street if that's your thing. Finally, you won't be stranded for breakfast even though you are in the middle of nowhere on route M115 -- there's a great little place, the "Bear Cafe", across the street. Also coming up to hear my daughter play at Interlochen, my folks took the route of paying $200ish/night to stay in the Quality Inn in Traverse City . . . I don't think so!

Very clean and well maintained gem!

  • 5 of 5

~ Our wonderful experience at George's Loft restored our faith in home rentals!! It was very, very clean, updated & well taken care of with no surprises! We loved the spacious acreage with miles of trails, the hammock, and the CLEAN (that's huge for me!!), updated and well maintained interior. It makes a great base for day trips to all the must do's in the area... Lake Michigan beaches, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Glen Lake, Crystal Lake... sooo much to do and see. We were lucky enough to meet the owners, who were spending their annual week at a neighboring property, and they could not possibly have been any nicer, just a wonderful family!! If you have kids, make sure you take them to the 50's themed drive-in in Honor, our kids loved it! A practical huge bonus for me was having a dryer to toss our beach towels into every night, sounds like a minor point but it was actually a huge help. You can't miss with this affordable and updated loft! We plan to return next season!

Private getaway with my family

  • 4 of 5

We had a fun time staying at the loft. It was the perfect space for my family of 3. (2 adults, 1 child and a dog) We had everything we needed to enjoy a 3 night stay. The property was clean and decorated nicely. We appreciated the dog run and the fire pit in the yard. We found the local market that had a great selection and the Bear Claw ice cream store! We found the location to be perfect for exploring Big Bear Dunes and Crystal Mountain.

This could have been a 5 star review if there was not a presence of small ants in the bathroom. A few other things to add. The loft was not equipped with dish soap or hand soap. We also could have used a guide on how to work the television in both rooms. We did enjoy the good selections of movies!

I would recommend this loft for a private stay!

Just what we needed

  • 5 of 5

We weren't in the area for vacation. We had come to Traverse City for a job interview after moving to Michigan. Well, our Plan A did not work out and we were scrambling. This place was just what we needed so that we could regroup and make a Plan B. This Loft was such a blessing to us. Room for us and our two children and even our two dogs. A kitchen where we could prepare our meals and stop eating out. And peace and quiet and area to explore. Just what the doctor ordered.

Quiet, Great location.

  • 4 of 5

The property was as advertised. The location for us was great because it was in a rural location but equidistant between Manistee, Sleeping Bear and Traverse City(all within 45 minute drive). Copemish is a very small town but has a Dollar General and a few restaurants and a small market. The loft was very clean with everything you need. It even had a washer and dryer which came in very handy! The air conditioner is a portable one that is in the bedroom. The kitchen has smaller appliances. Microwave, frig and stove are all smaller which we knew but worked out fine since we packed a large cooler packed with ice so everything that didn't fit in the frig went in the cooler. There is a HUGE yard including areas to walk, hike up from the loft and it was very well maintained. It has a nice metal fire pit which we used frequently and enjoyed the great view of the stars. It also has a metal patio set with an umbrella. My one complaint was that the charcoal grill that was included in the property listing was very dirty and I had to spend time to clean it and dump out a large pile of ash from the bottom of it. My other was that the windows were not very clean and the screens had a few holes in them so you had to be careful which windows we opened otherwise we got some decent sized insects in there.

Overall its a nice little place and if you wanna be away from the tourist areas I highly recommend it.

Cozy but...

  • 3 of 5

A weekend away was exactly what my boyfriend and I needed. It's about a 45 minute drive from Traverse City which is perfect for a night out. We headed to traverse first then to the house. It was nice with a futon bed for a couch plenty of pots and pans and kitchen ware and even a coffee maker, microwave, mini stove/oven and mini fridge. My only issues were it could of been a little cleaner. It wasn't disgusting; the futon mattres had alot of dog hair on it so I took one of the extra linen sheets to put over it and the cabinets had food crumbs in the bottom. Like I said nothing I couldn't live with but I did clean the crumbs out my self. So if it would of been cleaner I would of given in 4 stars instead of 3. However really comfy stay and private. Even a little bit of dirt couldn't ruin my stay cation
