About Rose & Gregg Dykstra

We moved to this beautiful lakeside community known as Beachwood-Bluffton and fell in love with all of the water views and opportunities for family visits with so much to do with children and grandchildren and friends. Visitors have commented that they were unaware that this beach area existed, and is one of the best beaches they've ever seen...anywhere.

Pere Marquette has been rated as one of the top beaches in the United States.

Rose & Gregg Dykstra purchased this house in 2014

Why Rose & Gregg Dykstra chose Beachwood-Bluffton

This property was so clean and well-maintained by the previous owners, that we knew it would be something we would appreciate staying in as a cottage/retreat. It is so close to the playground, boardwalks, lighthouses, beaches and the submarine, that you do not need a car. The restaurant Docker's Fish House has had rave reviews by boaters and beach-goers and is a favorite of ours to walk to. A new restaurant has opened on the beach (Called 'The Deck') and will be the perfect place to watch the gorgeous West Michigan sunsets.

The history in the area is well-worth exploring as you learn that Muskegon was once a dominant city in the nation with the lumber baron era. The historical section of downtown Muskegon is loaded with history and beautiful architecture.

The screened porch is so relaxing and will provide many hours of family and quiet time for your vacation.

What makes this house unique

Beautiful setting year-round for a get-away. Such a unique front porch and incredible access to Trails, fishing from the piers, serene beach walks.Very comfortable and cozy, the perfect setting for a summer retreat and great family memories. You can park your car, and walk and bike to so many amenities.

Location next to a. Playground and short walk to the beach. But ....

  • 3 of 5

It has a really great well stocked kitchen but the main bathroom inside the master bedroom made it quite inconvenient for showers and night trips to the john. Having air conditioning was soooo nice but the basement bedroom and bathroom felt like a dungeon.... very low ceiling.

We had a great vacation week !!

The open stairway to the basement not toddler friendly.😏

I loved it a lot. The house was neat, cozy, and so simple. I will never book another one when I go again to Muskegon. It feels like you are home

Great location, great hosts, wonderful family vacation.

  • 5 of 5

Our family of six loved our week in Muskegon. The house is within easy walking distance of the beach, the light houses, the submarine museum and the channel. We biked and kayaked and did yoga on the beach. We also enjoyed excursions hiking in the state park, going to Michigan Adventure, blueberry picking, visiting historic homes in Muskegon, Pokemon hunting, shopping in Muskegon and Whitehall, and a day trip to the Indiana Dunes, where we hiked and enjoyed the beach, water and nature center. The house is super well appointed with every kitchen item you could possibly need, including Keurig coffee, as well as plentiful towels and blankets, books and games. Everything was clean and comfortable. Rose is highly responsive and ensued we had a wonderful time.

Grosse Pointe/Michigan

Beautiful centrally located cabin!

  • 5 of 5

This was our very first vacation with our 3 boys. We were impressed with how clean and organized the inside of the cabin was! The 3rd bedroom is indeed in the basement but we made it work with the 3 kids in the bunk bed room. The beach, park, lighthouses are all a few min walk away. So nice to have two decent restaurants within a few minutes of each other. Also, snacks and ice cream available on the beach?! Yes please! We headed to Michigan Adventure (only a 25 min ride) and also Getty Drive-In Theatre. We all enjoyed our trip very much. The only downside was not having a fire pit in the backyard. There are a few on the beach but we weren't quick enough to grab one. :)

Great location

  • 4 of 5

We loved our time in Muskegon! Convenient to walk to the beaches on Lake Michigan as well as the (warmer!) beach on Muskegon Lake. Our kids loved the submarine museum just down the road (also walking distance), and the restaurant on the beach was a hit. Several playgrounds in close proximity as well. Only negative about the house was that the only main floor bathroom is inside the master bedroom, which means kids (or other adults) have to walk through bedroom during the night or go down to the basement. Steep basement stairs (difficult for older grandparents) and low basement ceilings (need to duck if you're over 6'2"). But all in all, we loved it and would definitely stay there again!
