About Rose & Gregg Dykstra

We moved to this beautiful lakeside community known as Beachwood-Bluffton and fell in love with all of the water views and opportunities for family visits with so much to do with children and grandchildren and friends. Visitors have commented that they were unaware that this beach area existed, and is one of the best beaches they've ever seen...anywhere.

Pere Marquette has been rated as one of the top beaches in the United States.

Rose & Gregg Dykstra purchased this house in 2014

Why Rose & Gregg Dykstra chose Muskegon

This property was so clean and well-maintained by the previous owners, that we knew it would be something we would appreciate staying in as a cottage/retreat. It is so close to the playground, boardwalks, lighthouses, beaches and the submarine, that you do not need a car. The restaurant Docker's Fish House has had rave reviews by boaters and beach-goers and is a favorite of ours to walk to. A new restaurant has opened on the beach (Called 'The Deck') and will be the perfect place to watch the gorgeous West Michigan sunsets.

The history in the area is well-worth exploring as you learn that Muskegon was once a dominant city in the nation with the lumber baron era. The historical section of downtown Muskegon is loaded with history and beautiful architecture.

The screened porch is so relaxing and will provide many hours of family and quiet time for your vacation.

What makes this house unique

Beautiful setting year-round for a get-away. Such a unique front porch and incredible access to Trails, fishing from the piers, serene beach walks.Very comfortable and cozy, the perfect setting for a summer retreat and great family memories. You can park your car, and walk and bike to so many amenities.

Awesome week!!!!

  • 4 of 5

We so totally enjoyed our stay at this cozy beach home. Was everything that it said it was. Home was very lovely and everything needed was there. Our family of 4 adults, 1 teenager and 3 children (1 an infant) had ample room. The walk to the beach was so nice. Litterly block at the most away. That was one of our main entertainment, and was great. The playgrounds were very nice also and right across the street.

A few questions we had while there was answered promptly by the property owners also. I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone.

Charming, Clean, and Comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay! This gem is in a wonderful location. We could easily walk to the park across the street, the nice restaurant on the beach (The Deck), and to the beach itself. Pere Marquette beach is just beautiful! We were also able to make this a home-base and go on some day excursions to Holland, Ludington, and the Double JJ Ranch. It was so nice to come "home" on these days to this cozy place.

This vacation home was spotless! No dust or sand anywhere! Thank you so much.

The kitchen was perfect. Lots of counter space to cook and plenty of room to eat as a family. (We have 4 teenage boys.) I planned out a menu just like I would at home, shopped at Meijer just like at home, and all of the tools I needed to cook were already stocked in your kitchen. All of the appliances were like-new. Every plate, glass, mug, pot or pan was spotess! This made us so comfortable, plus we were able to save money by eating out less. We did splurge almost every night to go to the Frosty Cove which is a great ice cream place nearby. Huge menu and huge servings!

I was able to do laundry. The washer and dryer were so clean. This was nice as my son was playing in a baseball tournament and we were able to clean his uniform. Thank you for the many towels provided, all stacked and ready to go in the linen closet. Also, I appreciated all of the storage. We had plenty of drawers to put our clothes and closets to store suitcases and other packing items.

Also, everyone loved being in the front sunroom. We would sit out there in the morning reading, watching the deer, doing puzzles at the big table, and eating breakfast.

I would highly recommend this beach home to anyone. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Great location

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. The beds were comfortable and the house was very clean and well appointed. The location was great, just a short walk to the beach, park, canal and Silversides museum.

A tidy, comfortable house close to the beach

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at this property for a long weekend with kids. The kids loved the bunk beds and proximity to the gorgeous Lake Michigan beach and playground (both a very short walk away, even for our 4 year old). It was easy to cook and relax. The house comfortably housed our party of 9---four adults and our 5 respective children.

The property was clean and well-appointed with necessities. As alluded above, the house is just at the edge of the lake and the canal from Muskegon lake, affording both beach views and access, playground time, close proximity to the submarine museum, and great evening walks. The Deck, a beachfront grill and bar, was a short walk away.

We would certainly recommend this house for a family or group looking for a quiet beach weekend.
