This beautiful lakefront cabin was built in 2003 and is located in the heart of the Hiawatha National Forest (10 miles South of M28). It is conveniently located next to Pete's Recreation Area and Bruno's Run for great mountain biking/hiking trail access. The World Famous Pictured Rocks National Lake shore is only 13 miles from the cabin. Fish, canoe or kayak the nearby lakes and the Indian River or spend a day or two admiring the incredible waterfalls in the Munising area. Bike the cliffs of the Grand Island National Recreation Area or have a relaxing day floating and swimming in the sandy bottomed Town Lake. There is a deck off the cabin with a new gas grill ready for use as well as a deck at the lake shore with a canoe that is provided. Paddle across Town Lake to the general store for yummy ice cream cones and rentals of jet skis and power boats to be used on nearby lakes (Town Lake is quiet lake). The cabin has two bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and one with two twin beds. Additional sleeping is available in the lower level where there is a bunk bed and a full-size futon. High speed internet and local phone service are available. Full of beautiful views and amazing recreational activities, you will love your stay at the Town Lake Lodge!
There is a 12 X 14 deck right at the edge of the lake. The rest of the lakeshore is natural. The entire lake is hard sand bottom that gets covered in pine needles and leaves each fall. The water quality is excellent which makes for great swimming and snorkeling. We keep the bottom of the lake in front of the deck raked free of most leaves so it is nice and sandy. The lake in front of the deck gets deep pretty quickly, so small kids should be monitored closely. The first 10 feet from shore goes from 0ft to 2ft, the next 10 feet from shore goes from 2ft to 5 or 6ft. After that it goes to 12 feet pretty quickly. Swimming, float tubes, snorkeling and relaxing is great. As always, small kids who are without life jackets should be watched closely. If you want a more traditional shallow water beach with a big grassy lawn, it is less than a mile away at the Pete's Lake Day Use Area.
Fans: There are two box fans and a ceiling fan.
Firepit: There is a fire-pit with 6 chairs for you to gather around the fire.
Lakeshore: There is a 12x14 deck right at the edge of the lake. The rest of the shore is natural. Town Lake is a quiet lake.
Landline (telephone): Yes, we do have landline for you to use.
Pets: Sorry, due to allergies, we can not allow pets at the Town Lake Lodge.
Swimming: Not a traditional swimming beach. The entire lake is hard sandy bottom. You can swim here-but the lake does get deep pretty quickly, so small kids should be monitored closely. The first 10 feet from shore goes from 0 ft to 2 ft. the next 10 ft from shore goes from 2 ft. to 5-6 ft. then drops to 12 ft. pretty quickly. There is a more traditional shallow water beach less than 1 mile away at Pete's Lake Day Use Area.
TV: There is a TV connected to a DVD player. There is not cable TV.
Wi-fi: Yes, there is wi-fi here! Also, a landline phone for your use. It's a great feature with the unreliable cell service in the Upper Peninsula.

A classic cottage just south of the gorgeous National Park- Pictured Rocks.
1. Row over to the store for ice cream with a canoe that we provide with your cabin rental
2. Just a hop, skip and a jump to Pictured Rocks
3. A quiet, peaceful, small lake
We arrived on the perfect Fall weekend Colors were magnificent. House is just as described and well stocked. Property Management was very helpful when needed. Loved it!
Great property great location could use a paddle boat at the lake let the folks know there is a smart TV on location to bring along your Netflix or Amazon passwords
Such a great cabin! Not that we were expecting anything bad, but we were pleasantly surprised at how clean and nice this cabin was. The two bedrooms upstairs are comfortable. The basement was perfect for the kids (no spiders) with books and games to distract them when they woke up earlier than the adults. The location is great- just a short drive to Picture Rocks, but tucked away on a quiet lake. We thoroughly enjoyed the canoe, dock, and fire pit. We've already recommended the cabin to friends. Thanks for the perfect long weekend!
This cottage was as wonderful as others have stated! Very clean, well stocked, gorgeous surroundings. The lake was so clear right by the dock we enjoyed the fish that hung out there! It was a peaceful quiet area for the most part. Jet skis are allowed on the lake now so the noise factor that comes from them on a lake so small as this is quite noticeable. We took trips to Marquette, Munising area, Grand Marais, and even Mackinaw City! We appreciated the flatscreen TV and brought our own DVD's to watch, and loved the deck view looking out to the lake! Thanks for having extra fans available as we were there during the warmest part of summer this year! We were never uncomfortable as the ceiling fan and windows kept the cottage pleasant. I personally would have liked a light above the bathroom sink to see better, but appreciated the clean and comfortable sized bathroom. We would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a peaceful gorgeous UP destination!
The cottage was very nice, comfortable, clean and nice rooms. Even though the internet is DSL, it was quite good and we were able to watch streaming TV like Netflix no problem (not that you'll want to do that too much with all the great things to see!).
The water even tasted good, which was nice as travelling, that is not always the case. The pictures on the website don't really do the place justice, it is very nice and hanging out lakeside is super. The small fishes there made friends with my wife and daughter and would always show up when they went down to the dock. Nice touch, how'd you train them to be so friendly? ;) The fire ring was great fun and taking the canoe out on the little lake really nice.
The scenery all around up there? All I can say is WOW! The only drawback is I am a "sweet blood" and the state bird up there has got to be the mosquito! Not bad during the day, but early morning and evening, you will NEED some insect repellent! But the starry skies, the sounds and those big lakes... I'd stay with a bunch of leeches to see all that! What a great part of the country! We are so glad we decided to visit!
This cottage quickly felt like home. It was even better than the pictures. The cottage was clean and had a great layout. It was well stocked with most items you would need including lots of books and games for kids. The location was perfect. The view of Town Lake was amazing. It was quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed canoe rides, evenings outside by the fire, and biking and hiking on the local trails. The cottage was close to everything we wanted to do including Pictured Rock, Marquette, and Grand Island. We would recommend this place to anyone.
13 miles from Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
