This beautiful apartment in Iceland is located at the seaside in a quiet and calm area, Kopavogur, approximately 8 km from Reykjavik city center. The apartment is spacious, 140 square meters on ground floor in a two apartment villa, built 1960. There are two bedrooms, one with walk-in closet, the other one smaller, both have queen size beds. The two other rooms, dining room and the living room are spacious and comfortable. Newly modernized kitchen is loaded with a modern equipment and chairs and table for 6. The bathroom is very good, combined bathtub and shower, furthermore a small toilet close to the entrance. There is access to laundry with washing machine and dryer. The big and beautiful garden is a perfect playground for children. The sea-view is gorgeous
This flat is perfect for 4 people. At the oceanfront is a attractive pathway, perfect for persons who like to walk, run and ride a bicycle. It takes aproximatily 60 minutes to walk to Reykjavík city center, 25 minutes on bike, and 10 minutes by car.
The proprietor lives on the first flour and is is available whenever if assistance is needed, as for travel informations, finding restaurants and places to see etc.
I am Inga, the property manager of this house, and a school teacher. I live on the first floor in this nice house with my sister in law, Hildur, who is also a teacher and the 2nd property manager. My husband, the guy on my left, works as guide in Iceland.
Inga Sigurjonsdottir and Hordur Sigurdarson purchased this apartment in 2007
This property has belonged to my husbands family since it was built 1960 and he was brought up here with his sister who actually lived in this flat and is also a property manager alongside with me. My husband lived in this house when I met him first in 1985 and we have lived happily here ever since. It is simply a beautiful house with two lovely apartments. The location is perfect, only 8 km from the Reykjavik City center, with big garden and the Atlantic Ocean just in front of the window.
We call this a Family House, because it is perfect for families who needs space, good kitchen and a playground for the kids and others in the big garden. The gorgeous view from the dining room, living room and the modern kitchen is one of a kind.
We LOVED our time in this beautiful home, which is quite roomy, full of light, very clean and beautifully decorated. The location is perfect & there's a lovely walkway by the water you can access from the back yard, as well as quiet streets you can explore in this pretty town. We visited while the tulips were in bloom & enjoyed strolling through the neighborhood, admiring the flower gardens. The home is charming and very well equipped & the owners could not be nicer or more accommodating. We loved everything about our temporary home and this wonderful island. Minor items to make note of: there is a rather tall step down to the living area to be cautious of; there is no microwave, which was not a problem at all for us (the kitchen is very well stocked); and if you are visiting in the summer months, you might consider packing an eye mask, if you need a dark room to sleep in. You should rent a car to get around, but that's likely true for most areas in Iceland.
Our family loved staying here. It is so comfortable and welcoming, and the view is phenomenal. It has more than enough room for our family of four and it was a pleasure having the well equipped kitchen. We loved the location; relaxing yet so close to downtown Reykjavik. The hosts were gracious and very helpful.
We also enjoyed exploring the local area of Kopavogur including their natural history museum and the modern art museum. The priest at Kopavogskirkja gave us a tour of the nearby church to see the beautiful stained glass designed by Gerdur Helgadóttir .
We highly recommend staying here. We will fondly remember our time here and hope to return.
This is the nicest house we've rented so far. Beds were supple, living room was light, bright and comfy with a fantastic ocean view aND the kitches was well equipped. Hot tub was a great way to relax at the end of our stay and our hosts were kind, helpful and extremely easy to interact with.
I couldn't recommend this apartment or it's owners more highly. I was a little skeptical about staying in someone's home, worried that privacy might be an issue. Inga and Hordur (and sister, Hildur) are the perfect hosts. Not intrusive, accommodating, and so warmly friendly. They booked reservations for us at a fantastic seafood restaurant (Kopur) on our first night. On our last day I sent an email (although they made themselves available whenever we needed them), asking if we could use the hot tub. We arrived home to find the hot tub prepared and waiting for us.
The beds are so comfortable, we slept like babies (with sleep-masks!) The ocean was such a peaceful backdrop to the living and kitchen areas. 1.5 baths is nice - Most two bedroom apartments we looked at were only 1 bath. The location near Reykjavik was perfect. 8 minutes to the city but so quiet in the neighborhood.
We considered staying out in the country. Reykjavik is such a good central base camp for exploring Iceland. Grocery stores and restaurants are hard to come by once you get out into the rest of the country, so having the city so accessible was a good pick for us.
You won't regret staying here. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
As they say .. "You get what it says on the tin" ... but actually you get so much more! The pictures give you a good idea of the layout and facilities but once you're in the door the space and decor really stand out. The house is on a lovely quiet street and the view across the bay is lovely - the only house in sight is the Presidential home. Everything was clean and very well maintained. The underfloor heating was appreciated because we arrived to a week of storms, in a winter of storms. We had our own parking space off the street which was a nice touch. The outside grounds of the property were well kept even after a harsh winter and showed how much care our hosts put into maintaining the place.
Speaking of our hosts - Inga, Hildur and Hordur were so gracious, caring and supportive. We arrived with our 1 year old grandaughter and immediately had an extra basket of toys brought over. The morning after our arrival Hildur came to visit and made sure we were aware of the dangerous storm approaching, making sure that we were naively heading out until the storm had passed, later in the day. Whenever we had a question, one of the three were available to provide the answer and even led us to a nearby mall when we decided to visit. Parking in Reykjavik can be a nightmare but an insider tip from our hosts had us well placed at the head of downtown at no cost - and that parking came with it's own tourist 'mecca'.
Without a doubt we would recommend the apartment to our friends and family of they visit Iceland. The access to Reykjavik IS only minutes away by car and there is easy access to the main ring road for your further afield trips. The pool in the neighborhood is ranked in the top 5 for country and there are local bakeries and supermarkets near by when you need supplies.
The house is situated in a beautiful and quiet place near ocean. Beautiful house fully equipped. Very good internet coverage. Small garden with ocean view - ideal for famillies. Parking for car.
The hosts are wonderful people. Always willing to help.
We would definitely recommend this property to friends or famillies and hope to come back to visit again.
